Never seen this before: The head coach, Joe Judge, just broke down the pregame huddle. Would love to hear what he said, but not sure ESPN can afford the fines from the FCC.
A big “if” but this season will be a lot more pleasurable with some QB pressure!
Secondary has to hold up to see more of a respectable pass rush too. Let’s hope the secondary is better this year. I don’t think it could be worse then what we saw last year....hmmmm.
The guy does make an occasional nice play with his legs. However, it is not worth all of the bad plays we must endure in between those rare good plays.
He is not a real TE and he also is not WR. We need another guy in there at tight end.... period.
how many years can this guy have jitters? there is no excuse for jitters at this point. We have a QB with less starts and a big target on his chest and he has no jitters.
you get jitters when going through the airport with a kilo of cocaine hidden in your rectum....
wouldn’t be able to advance the ball on the fumble recovery? If that’s not the case it should’ve been reviewed, it was pretty obvious but maybe they felt they’d call it too close to overturn.
Engram just gave him the excuse needed to bench him for Smith. I think many of us were saying last year Smith was better than Engram. Smith must have had a shitty camp
Not many thought the same – none of the announcers and only two guys on the thread. You'd think Jones might have told Judge to challenge it, if he thought it was a fumble.
Play design that last one. One blocker? With all eyes on Barkley? Guy who dropped pass (again, as in last year), took a loss on third down, and is the great hope of the O?
at least he forced an incompletion. Defense played fairly well. Steelers got the one big pass completion with a push off that wasn’t called, but at least I could say the secondary didn’t miss an assignment.
I'm fucking impressed. Engram gets his head out of his ass we are
Lawrence was held/pulled down too, bad missed call IMO. I like this defense, very physical. Offense a little out of sync but the pass blocking is holding up so far.
a bit of pass rush through scheme. Combined with Bradberry looking extremely competent against number 1s I don't see us getting burned there. JJ"s play last year dropping off a face of a cliff was a massive issue as far as the potential of this defense.
I wasn’t optimistic about this game but the defense came to play and the offense should be able to make some plays against the Stealers. Not a bad first quarter. Let’s go O!
This is a brutal first test for them. No excuses, but I’d be surprised if we weren’t getting stuffed early
Yeah exactly I'm impressed they look like they are looking competent against Steelers D at all. That's an accomplishment and very awesome moving forward.
RE: RE: RE: Leonard Williams has an impact on defense..
People dig their heels in on this argument, but Williams likely better than anyone the Giants would have drafted with the trades picks.
+1

This is a lost argument. You could have kept the third and not be on the hook for the franchise and signed him outright. This has been discussed at nausea and we can agree at DT that doesn’t play like Christ Jones or the best Aaron Donald ain’t worth $16+ million

interesting front 7 looks so far. They've def. got me fooled. These looks with only 2 linemen with their hands in the dirt have been surprisingly effective
just can not cover which doesn't make sense because he's a plus athlete
Good throw beats good coverage to good route. Its' what happend there. I agree with you Peppers needsd to get better in coverage but using that is trash.
"He doesn't know it's a damn show. He thinks it's a damn fight." stage of this game. It's gonna be a slugfest from here.
Bingo. Steelers are shocked Giants are game to play. Which makes sense, outside of those blue tinted goggles we've been whatever the antithesis is of elite level. NFL views as a joke.
couldn’t get to it. He’s taller and the ball was away from him. Extremely difficult play for Peppers to make. You have to tip you cap to Ben R for putting the ball where it needed to be. Secondary hasn’t been too bad so far. They’re going up against a very talented receiver group too.
running is pointless. It's putting us in second and third and long, which is exactly what Pittsburgh wants. Now a penalty. Throw short passes on first down instead.
just can not cover which doesn't make sense because he's a plus athlete
To Herbstreit's point, he's 5 foot 11 covering a 6'4 TE.
It was very good coverage! Ben made a great throw! Fuck I hate people sometimes.
Agree... not only that but as a safety Peppers has potentially multiple assignments pre-snap. he had to react to what Pittsburgh did post snap and essentially had to "catch up" to Ebron. Peppers was lined up a bit deep and to the outside.
He had no idea who to block because the interior portion of the wine All blocked away from him and he had to deal with the B and the C gap.
They are cleaning that up as we speak
Steelers front is very good, you can see them get more comfortable and aggressive as the game goes on. Garret needs to counter that and take advantage of the aggression. Penalty killed that drive. Too many negative plays as has been usual for the Giants in recent years but the playcalling has been good.
But they need to cut down on the errors of assignments. Slow it down and add an extra blocker or something, Barkley and Hones are gonna get killed at this rate.
and not picking up Dupree leaving him unblocked to make a tackle
yup - that needs to be cleaned up one way or the other. When he has been on him he done a good job. Not sure if it is bad design and/or it is his fault.
Quote:
and not picking up Dupree leaving him unblocked to make a tackle
they tried to pull a gaurd and he was late
Overall I think Thomas is not doing too bad as a rookie going up against the Steelers in his first game. They're not running over or through him. He'll get better.

I agree. There’s a lot of confusion right now with a new rookie LT, new Center, first game ever, and new RT.
I'm sick of watching utter crap. Everyone on this site knew the Steelers were scoring 7 there. And it'll probably be 23-10 before we blink in the 3rd quarter.
Would be nice if we could run block and not be one dimensional. Also the secondary's inexperience was evident on that last drive. Couldn't cover a mattress smh
Totally agree, and was thinking the same thing, Effort is there, they seem to not be making silly mistakes, but they just don’t have the talent, particularly studs on the lines and secondary.
Last year guys were running uncovered all over the field
then that shitshow happened. Defense with a total disaster.
Holmes looks totally lost.
Love with a total garbage effort not he tackle there. Pulled up and it cost them a touchdown.
This team just lacks talent. There's some positives but they just are so behind other teams as far as talent goes.
I don’t think they’re that far off. There’s still holes, sure, but it’s a new scheme on both sides. They have to get more comfortable in the schemes and understand where they need to be on certain plays. This is not surprising.
justifying the dumb shit Shurmur was doing last year. That drive sucked shit and was way too easy for Pittsburgh. People just calling it the way they see it.

our secondary, oline, and pass rush are still one of the leagues worst units...he's invested a ton of of capital at all spots and has yet to put together even a league avg unit. He should have been shown the door 2 years ago.
Yiadom got burnt on the TD....you got to be better in the redzone. Graham has to be more bend than just break.
Engram and the run blocking just horrible.
Judge come on man didnt challenge that, cost the giants 4 points.
Not enough pressure in the 2 minute drill.
DJ has to be better cant keep making those dumb INT and dumb fumbles....although it should have been a TD.
Even if they did challenge that, it would have been a clear Giants recovery, but dead at the spot of recovery, right? Since they didn't let them play through it on the field?
and they can't afford to make mistakes. EE has crippled drives with drops, missed blocks, and penalties. this team is actually playing very competitive football
Totally agree, and was thinking the same thing, Effort is there, they seem to not be making silly mistakes, but they just don’t have the talent, particularly studs on the lines and secondary.
Yup, and this Steeler team is a legit SB contender if Ben is healthy enough.
Hope the Giants can score or it's the same as last year

I'm not so sure about that. Dupree is having a good game. I can't focus on him each snap of course but I can't see how he is holding his own with this rushing attack and the pressure I am seeing. Fleming got smoked a few times too.

Perhaps Peart is the starter by mid-season?
Dupree is not doing against Thomas when they are matched up. There have been some plays where one can question whether Thomas should have been blocking him when he blocked inside.

Thomas locked up on Dupree several times at stopped him. Dupree running free when a TE or pulling OL is supposed to pick him up

Dupree looks good against our TEs. Against Thomas... Not so much.
Kaden Smith replacing Engram is the easiest adjustement to make
We might get a FG with our offense but I think they will adjust and really put the heat on Jones.
We all knew the Giants OL would struggle against the league's best front 7.
I felt our defense would stop the run and they have.
We still have good special teams despite a few injuries.
But overall the Steelers are a seasoned system team and they will put it together before we do.
mmm i guess im the only one who feels good about the first half haha
the PI on engram was shaky especially since they didnt call it on claypool. we have to stop with penalties as they kill drives.
otherwise OL looks ok. Jones doing a better job protecting ball. thomas holding his own. I expected slaughter, we are actually in the game against a team much better on paper than us while we have a new coach, new scheme second year QB with less than 16 games under his belt, a TON of young guys all over the team.
Everything is good so far fellas...breathe
RE: Gates and Fleming look to be a stop gaps at Center and RT
pleased overall, especially with the defense. Our coverage has been good. Ben has just made some terrific throws. We've also gotten pressure, stuffed the run, tackled well, and Ballentine has held up despite them throwing at him a lot. We just a lot more disciplined. The Steelers did have a lot of success using rub offs as someone noted against our man coverage at the end of the half.
The problems with the running game are more about missed assignments than being physically overmatched, but Gates and Zeitler were definitely having some problems. We need to throw short passes on first down instead of trying to run. Barkley also needs to stop hurdling.
We need more from Engram. I'd also like to see Jones move more, and get outside of the pocket.
Peppers had some nice punt returns.
We're still in it, but the offense has to do something or the defense will just run out of gas pretty quickly in the second half.

The biggest problem with the Giants O-line seems to be communication. The Steelers Zone blitzing will do that. But I’ve only seen 2 plays where a guy was just straight up beaten. Gates once in the middle and Engram vs Watt.
I'm sick of watching utter crap. Everyone on this site knew the Steelers were scoring 7 there. And it'll probably be 23-10 before we blink in the 3rd quarter.
Agreed I already like Judge, Garrett, and Graham. But good god this is DG’s 3rd year and we’re still okay with being completely devoid of talent?
What was the timeframe BBIers were saying we’d have to give him to build a competitive squad that isn’t the dregs of the league? 6-7 years? Damn can’t wait for 2024 then
RE: We expected steelers dline to dominate giants oline
So no surprises I guess. And the domination seems to be getting more complete as the game goes on.
I think fourth quarter will be a different story. We’ll see how conditioned they are in game 1 after playing a whole game. Oline needs to impose its will and right now it appears they are being outmaneuvered.
Everyone predicted theyd get hammered but down 6 at the half against a superior team and people are acting like nothing has changed.
The INT was bad. D struggled in the 2 minute. Run blocking really poor.
Also...D playing physical. Fundamentally sound. Carter and Martinez look legit. Theyre rushing the passer. DL solid. Thomas looks great. Peppers poised to break a punt.
Stop acting like this is the same old team. Pretty sure someone actually said that. Im sorry, but fuck off lol...
We can't run block for shit. Sure pay him 99 million. Not his fault but this team's inability to field an offensive line is approaching Browns-level garbage.

This is a really bad team with a new coaching staff and a weird off season. I don't what you idiots expected but we're playing actual football against a seasoned Super Bowl caliber team and we are giving them a fight. We're tackling better save Love's bad attempt, the pass rush is making Ben speed it up and we're stopping the run. Building blocks folks, we are playing an outstanding team and we're hanging in there. Don't give up on the season one half into a game.
This doesn't feel like a hopeless team right now, and we felt hopeless most weeks under Shurmur. It's frustrating but come on damnit, we have to make progress and we are.

Agree. It looks like Zietler missed that block twice on what should have been the weak side. They need to take that play out of their playbook. They’re better off having Thomas pick up the man on the inside and have Hernandez counter to pick up Dupree.
“Saquad” runs with the physicality of Tarik Cohen.
Engram has been a disappointment since the day he was drafted.
Sheppard has been a ghost.
The guys people were concerned about heading into tonight have actually held up ok.
Giants have the most over rated playmakers in the NFL.
Barkley hasnt been the same since his rookie year, Engram is garbage, and Shepard is a possession receiver not anywhere close to a number 1. The only weapon Jones has is Slayton
RE: RE: Hope the Giants can score or it's the same as last year
^^ This. And it's against the Steelers D. As expected he's misread some plays but no one's getting through him or pushing him back. When he learns more technique and how to read the defense, watch out.

Barkley is hit in the backfield on every play. How would you even know what physicality he has since he's not even moving forward before getting hit?
And? He’s a shitty runner between the tackles and does a terrible job turning a loser run into zero or a 3 yard gain. Go watch Zeke in Dallas. Dude is a clown but he’s exceptionally good at that specific skill.

This is how I feel too.
More and More i feel like Patrick Graham was the wrong hire
... A new feel it's important to post that this is the same old Giants, You clearly have no idea what you are watching.
Hopefully Colombo makes the necessary adjustments and I'll take the way every other Giant is playing, with the exception of the dropped passes.
Yeah but..... -2 yard rushing with a RB who is supposedly among the best this league has to offer. Please explain why Gettleman, aka the Hog Molly whisperer, is given a pass for still having the worst o-line in football in his 3rd season.
(I actually give Garrett a TON of credit for what he’s been able to do offensively despite this o-line.)
It was his 2nd big embarassment, earlier in 2Q he stood still while the WR juked and adjusted in the middle of the field, leaving Love 10 yds in the dust. I have never liked his game, doesn't have enough twitch/reaction or top-end speed, and he's not a good tackler.
I don’t discount Williams makes plays time-to-time, but overall he gets handled pretty easily and ends up on the ground a lot. He’s also off the field a lot tonight.

Really? Zeke couldn’t have punched it in at the goal line after the muffed punt?
The Steelers have decided smartly they aren't letting Barkley
Jones tried to get the ball out before Dupree got there but couldn't and the ball took a bad bounce. Not putting that on Jones, just a great play by Dupree and a bad bounce.
possibly throwing it away into the back of the end zone. Do you really think he knew his arm was about to get hit?
just flip it out of bounds he is out of the pocket no reason to load up he has to have better awareness dupree was there. Flip that out and play 3rd down.
last year, then I don't know what to say. We are going toe to toe with a SB contender. Yes we make mistakes, we are the youngest team in the league, but the effort is unbelievable.

Part of playing QB is knowing when to just throw it away.
RE: That was a great drive that ended with a very bad mistake.
played hard. We've made mistakes, but the effort is real and undeniable.
This is a different team than we've seen in years. Even with that interception there is no f**king quit in this team. We may lose as expected but this team is going to come out meaner in a few games.
But he does more bad then good.. I don’t put the blame on Daniel Jones there at all too! That is all on the coaching staff!!! IMO they are not doing their job! You have to tell Daniel Jones not to do that bullshit especially in critical moments like at the goaline?!?!! Come on man teach the kid something fuck!! Teach coach do something to make sure he doesn’t do these critical mistakes?!?!

The team didn't quit under Shurmur either. I need to see more.
It happens - Brady threw a pick 6 on the 5 yesterday
INT was a backbreaker. It took 15 or so plays and a crazy fourth down conversion just to get into FG range. That's how good the Pittsburgh defense is right now. We have on big plays except for the TD to Slayton.

He's still trying to do too much. Give up the down, move on to the next play. Don't try to make something out of nothing.
Is that a microcosm of things to come early in the season with this offense? I mean, this OL will struggle early for sure and the Bears, 49'ers and even Rams have rushers.
young QBs do dumb things. He single handedly drove them 90y against top 5 D.
And 0 points. What is he your kid?
kes is right, this guy doesn’t have half the weapons and line Eli had after less than a season in the league. This is an excellent defense, what do you expect?
away and his feet came out from underneath him and it came out awkward. He was putting on a masterful drive with some incredible throws moving around the pocket.
Can we talk about the number of plays where they leave Dupree completely unblocked? One chip would have taken him right out of the play completely. And why run Jones left where he has to throw across his body. Not a good play. Saquon also left a huge hole to the left a few plays before.
If you aren't happy with Jones, I suggest you have your pick from any of the vaunted Darnold class.
So much talent, but the light bulb has not gone on yet.
Jones is hardly the problem tonight. That was a bad play but he’s basically the only guy who has shown up.
That's not fair..I think the wideouts and OL are playing tough, but outmatched. Saying the rest of them didn't show up is disingenuous considering who the opponent is.

you can like Jones and still think that was a dumb play because it was.
Still, I will take his willingness to make a play, and the mistakes that come with it, over Darnald playing scared or the twilight Eli checking down all game long.
I'm really encouraged by what I'm seeing, and I'm not some die hard, ride or die Jones fan.
He does great and then he doesn’t just make one little mistake. He makes huge mistakes at critical times. Throw it away, get the 3. He didn’t need to be a hero.

It was one bad play after an excellent drive which he showed some guys and drive to get the first down. Think they can feel the weight and pressure of this defense constantly suffocating them. I don’t. Fault the kid he has shown some amazing stuff so far.
Jones made some great throws and runs. So the kid made a stupid mistake? He’s young a learning and he will learn from that mistake. I’m impressed with the way their playing in their first game with a new coach.
a lot of Jones mistakes are having an overmatched OL in front of him who have been incapable of getting a run game going tonight. What QB can overcome that? Very, very few.
This thread reminds me of the Minnesota game last year. Blah blah blah.
This is a good team we're losing to and people explaining that we'll be fine and then it quickly turned into a good moral lesson. Losing by 9 to a team with a 59 year old quarterback and we have 0 running game is something to be proud of.

I'm impressed as well. The difference in this game however is two turnovers that are both squarely on Jones.
and yeah he made 2 big mistakes while giving Barkley a pass is laughable. 15 carries for 6 yards while his pass blocking is shit and no not every carry did he have nowhere to go but he takes way too long to accelerate through a hole that6 by the time he is finished tip toeing in the backfield they pounce on him

This is a good team we're losing to and people explaining that we'll be fine and then it quickly turned into a good moral lesson. Losing by 9 to a team with a 59 year old quarterback and we have 0 running game is something to be proud of.
Big Ben is old but he is playing a grwat game. this is what high level QBing looks like. when we blitz, he makes us pay.
Jones made some great throws and runs. So the kid made a stupid mistake? He’s young a learning and he will learn from that mistake. I’m impressed with the way their playing in their first game with a new coach.
I'm impressed as well. The difference in this game however is two turnovers that are both squarely on Jones.
AND when he makes a mistake it’s big. He takes away everything that he did right. He makes huge mistakes at critical times and loose a ball game. That’s the issue
a lot of Jones mistakes are having an overmatched OL in front of him who have been incapable of getting a run game going tonight. What QB can overcome that? Very, very few.
Pittsburgh converts a 3rd and 4 on a crossing route and I'm telling you the Steelers will now dominate the rest of the way. Sad that we stood strong for much of the game but you can't lose the turnover battle against good teams.
As you get older. I could handle the 1970s as a young kid, but I just cannot stand the thought of another year of poor play while we wait for Gettleman’s latest plan to pan out. I actually like these coaches and these players but watching this garbage is just a reminder of what a pathetic team this has become and how far it is from being competitive with good teams.
is a below average player on defense. If he's hurt the impact will be felt on special teams more so than defense because he quite simply isn't very good.

1. martinez. wow he makes plays at POA
2. OL looks solid in pass pro when you cnsider who we played and its their first week together
3. jones looked solid and made a bunch of plays
4. defense looks pretty good vs run, i think secondary(ballentine) needs some work but overall, i think the defense looked good early
5. i didnt see any bone head play calls (saw a ton with shurm and mcadoo)
A lot of ppl said that they dont mind a loss tonight
they just want to see if the team is competitive. Does that have to be for the entire game? What if they compete for almost 3 qtrs but fold in the 4th?
Gettleman. Mara was an idiot for not firing him and cleaning house completely
Yup. Completely blew 3 years of premium assets. Hopefully we have a QB is only positive. The rest of his picks are JAGs. And Barkley at 2 was and is malpractice.
all that talk about understanding that this is a team with an entirely new coaching staff and several new players and no preseason games and to take whatever happens with that understanding......thats all out the window now???

Is that we've definately taken steps to improve a horror show of a roster. Thomas looks good, Blake Martinez is a tremendous upgrade at Mlb, Slayton is a stud and Lawrence, Williams, Tomlinson and Carter can be damn good. Can't solve all your problems at once. We're getting there off season by off season.
Whole play seemed rush with 20 seconds to go on the play clock. You’ve got an opponent who’s been out there for 15 plays. Make them stand out there for a bit. Rushed it and made the game killing mistake.
satisfied with this "progress", what exactly has been encouraging?
Jones is a QB. He's operating under extreme pressure. That's it. They lack playmakers on offense and the O line is not there yet. One game against a very good D, can't get too down on them
satisfied with this "progress", what exactly has been encouraging?
Yeah i see a team trying hard with no talent.
I am wondering who that is dupe of as only came September 2020 to bash Giants. Nobody expected a win, but to be within a TD for 3 quarters to a playoff team is a significant step forward.
all that talk about understanding that this is a team with an entirely new coaching staff and several new players and no preseason games and to take whatever happens with that understanding......thats all out the window now???
It's BBI, the site has become rife with morons
Its more frustration with the little things that could have been controlled. Jones had a Mahomes style drive only to make a mind numbing decision, he could have thrown it away. Barkley misses blocks again, Oline cant block on a straight ahead run. Some of these things are controllable and dont require scheming.
RE: Barkley is living off his repuatation from his rookie season
this team has a lot of developing to do. I’m not giving up on them. We all knew it was going to be tough sledding, yeah it’s frustrating, but this team and HC need time to improve and develop into a better product
I don’t think the Giants look any more organized, tough, better in the trenches, or committed than the last couples of goes.
The Giants have a couple of high quality young players. But they still have a really bad offensive line, not nearly enough at WR, and a really ugly secondary.
I think Judge is going to be fine, but the talent gap remains steep.
The OL looks just as bad as the last few years , which is saying a lot. The secondary is bad. The D can't make a stop when they need one and have an inconsistent pass rush. What exactly is the positive to take away? They played hard and were in the game for most of the 1st half?

yeah their great. That’s we’ve been outscored by 23-0 since Slayton scored and Pittsburgh’s second banana rb ran for a buck ten.
Set of guys. Boring and predictable. Plus, get used to the fact that, as a player, Barkley is ordinary.
Ever notice how slow this game is? I mean huge globs of time pass and nothing in the way of football play actually happens. A drag.
NFL ball has become a drag.
Browns . Mara is one of the worst owners in the NFL and doesnt have a clue what he is doing. The only brightside is they might have a shot at Trevor lawrence and this team might be bad enough to clean house in the front office and bring in a real outsider
It was a bad decision. He also had a Mahomes style drive the previous 18 plays. He basically drove the team 90 yards himself. Gotta relax a little there. Kid can play.
but if this team is bad enough to get the number 1 pick you take Trevor Lawrence and you dont think twice
No question
we wont be pickin #1. and IF we were, we would trade down and take the picks. jones is the goods. you guys just hate gettleman, its almost like youre rooting for jones to suck. kid hasnt even started 16 games in his career and he runs the offense like a seasoned vet. his INT in redzone was FIRST EVER. he was trying to make a play that wasnt there. he will learn. he faced a great defense tonight with a young and raw OL.
The OL cleaned up the blitz issues in the 2nd half
Right down to the garbage time drive that makes the game look closer than it actually was.
OL is still garbage. Secondary is still garbage. Defense still can't get stops when they need one. And as far as "oh, they competed!" goes, they have played a lot of games just like this over the past three years including against good teams.
Three Dave Gettleman offseasons and the talent level still sucks.

i swear you are the MOST NEGATIVE dude ever
the OL isnt "garbage" they are a young unit in their first game together. thomas looks like the goods. the OL is a sum of parts, takes time to gel. the secondary you HAD to know was gonna struggle. they have 4th and 5th rounders starting. they are missing 2nd and 3rd corner and starting FS.

If we are picking #1, we have way bigger problems than qb. I like Jones quite a bit. I'm a big fan and I like what I've seen from the kid. He is not the problem. The problem is what it's been for quite a while. The Oline needs to be better.
That being said, if the giants do find themselves in that position, you take Lawrence. That kid is a generational talent IMO. You deal Jones for pick(s).
He is an example of why we are a bad football team. We hold on to players who on paper show talent like speed but when they step onto the field they shit the bed. He shits the bed and or gets hurt. Enough is enough. How is he even in uniform. He sucks
New OC
New DC
2nd year QB
Rookie OLT
Sortend off-season
They play a SB contender hard till the 4rth
And you ain't excited? Yoy are fucking crazy
FACTS. i have no ill feelings about tonight. keep grinding and get better
Exactly how I feel....week 1 is always a crapshoot anyhow, ESPECIALLY with the circumstances as the are this year. Just want to see improvement from week to week, correct whats correctable, keep competing. Gonna take some time to work all these new guys in.

its still doesn't fix the giants need at least 2 more top tier OL, an elite pass rushing, and at least one more good player in the secondary.
Jones is fine (he isn't going to be dominant) but neither was Eli. The giants won because they had good O-line and a dominant pass rush. We need those.
The only thing I require is DG doesn't make those decsions he clearly has no ability to build an NFL roster. 3 straight years we have the same problems.

How can you actually watch that game and think Jones isn’t good? Zero running game. Zero. A great play by Watt on the first int on a designed quick read pass, and just a bad decision on his last one. He threw a 3rd and 13 laser to get them off the goal line to start that drive! Without that they would have been punting from the back of their end zone And likely would have resulted in the same thing

There were a couple of drives where he looked elite tonight. But I also understand the argument for rebooting with a chance to upgrade the most important position in the game and in professional sports.
Is the real deal I like what I see from this young defense and if we can move the ball verses that Steelers defense then im not worried about the Giants we are on the right track.

he will be a good NFL qb. I don't think he is the issue. That was my arguement. He makes enough good plays to make you think he will be fine. Lawerence still doesn't fact we can't run block, we can't guard any WR's, or we can't sack the QB.
All those posistions of need require high draft picks to get good ones.
The truth of the matter is that Big Ben looked extremely competent and the rest of the AFC is in trouble. If DJ doesn't throw that terrible pick after like `12 passes everyone is talking about this differently. Fumbles? Against the elite defense of the NFL? We all know it was one thing he needed to clean up and it didn't happen tonigth. And he got hit tonight so where are the haters?
The defense looked great for 2 quarters. They run out of steam. Some great plays. Lost their confidence with the second interceptions. Jones makes BIG mistakes at critical times and the team just quit after the 3rd quarter. Understand that OL takes time but fans can only have patience for so long. At the moment is average. And a little sarcasm, I think we would hear from the coach that we had a great practice. Lol

Eli was dominant. I'll point out 2 reasons why:
* Literally every WR and TE the Giants had during the Eli tenure except Visanthe Shiancoe left the Giants and was nowhere near as good.
* The 2011 Giants were 26th in defense, 32nd in rushing yards, 32nd in yards per carry, and 32nd in giving up QB pressures. Eli threw that team into a ring.
RE: If you come across this game as a negative, don't know what to say.

The team looked improved. The defense looked good. DJ makes HUGE mistakes at critical times. It’s like he chokes at a very critical point of the game. He takes away all the good things he does throughout the game. Is that a hater or just a fact? The team also looked as the game was over at half time. It’s an observation. Did you see anything different? Fans are tired for loosing year after year.

Never seen this before: The head coach, Joe Judge, just broke down the pregame huddle. Would love to hear what he said, but not sure ESPN can afford the fines from the FCC.
Just wanted to get that out of the way early.....
Sorry.
:-)
It's been talked about on BBI for the past couple of days. This is no surprise.
7:15...at least that is what they say.
Just wanted to get that out of the way early.....
I’ll give it till late fourth quarter......🥴
Wisniewski (sp?) is filling in.
Tonight and for the rest of the season.
A big “if” but this season will be a lot more pleasurable with some QB pressure!

Secondary has to hold up to see more of a respectable pass rush too. Let’s hope the secondary is better this year. I don’t think it could be worse then what we saw last year....hmmmm.
Ballentine according to the depth chart, but Im guessing several guys get a shot.
Ballantine.

I'm sure the Steelers will pick on him quit a bit.

"quite"
One camera is weird
like most fumbles go
I would bench this mother fucker on the next drive..
drop pass
missed blocks
doesn't run the 3rd and goal route well
all the talent in the world, nothing upstairs
Two drops
cuz he sucks
Miss block on run
Miss block on pass
Lazy ass route on 3rd and goal
I was ready in 2019.
The guy does make an occasional nice play with his legs. However, it is not worth all of the bad plays we must endure in between those rare good plays.
He is not a real TE and he also is not WR. We need another guy in there at tight end.... period.
Evan Engram hat-trick?
does Judge have guts to do that?
how many years can this guy have jitters? there is no excuse for jitters at this point. We have a QB with less starts and a big target on his chest and he has no jitters.
you get jitters when going through the airport with a kilo of cocaine hidden in your rectum....
been awhile
Nice series by the d
No he missed 2 big blocks and didnt make an effort at all on the 3rd and goal. Hes a lazy POS

Engram just gave him the excuse needed to bench him for Smith. I think many of us were saying last year Smith was better than Engram. Smith must have had a shitty camp

It's 5 minutes into the season. Stop being a baby.
Haha how long have we been hearing this? Sadly, how long are we going to hear this?
I can't believe this - wait all off-season and now this
Please help
evan engram has made enough bad plays for an entire game in the first 5 minutes. man he is brutal
Not many thought the same – none of the announcers and only two guys on the thread. You'd think Jones might have told Judge to challenge it, if he thought it was a fumble.
Stellar running game, btw.
We can't run at all. Might help if block Dupree.

See?
Sorry, I missed that. Just caught up in the ineptitude I guess.
Yup, clear. Hope they call it both ways
In the right place and kicking ass!!!
Me too.
Yup. It looked like Conner had a lot of room to run.
Blake Martinez stands out
Big IF there
Ben has barely tried downfield.
Are they always this brutal?
We have to start running the ball which is going to be tough sledding against this D. Short passing game
Williams is getting some qb hits and been good v the run
Are they always this brutal?
So far this is a tame one. Just wait.
Are they always this brutal?
Haha this is tame so far! They used to drive me nuts, but I enjoy the banter now
Some serious pressure and penetration on DL and LBs. Secondary did not seem to understand where the ball was a couple of times, though. It's early.
This is a very encouraging start.

This is a lost argument. You could have kept the third and not be on the hook for the franchise and signed him outright. This has been discussed at nausea and we can agree at DT that doesn’t play like Christ Jones or the best Aaron Donald ain’t worth $16+ million

Smith is just such a classic move the chains TE.
DG just so great at picking those hog mollies!
tiful
Let’s go Giants!
Way to go DG!
I hope this was a joke
What a phenomenal throw by Jones, and a great catch by Slayton, who knew he was going to be blasted. The protection was also excellent.

This offense is going to be dangerous as fuck.
Yes he did. That was an unnoticed part of the big play, but I bet the coaches see it
DG just so great at picking those hog mollies!
Yes sir. Thomas ate up Dupree that time
Yes he is😄

Bad read/great play
The fans sound deflated... lol
Definitely not open.
Pittsburgh will score a TD here and get untracked. No way the Giants can hope to mount consistent drives on Pittsburgh if they can't run the ball.
Yup looked like Jones just keyholed him instead of going to next read
Good throw beats good coverage to good route. Its' what happend there. I agree with you Peppers needsd to get better in coverage but using that is trash.
Giants can't go 3 and out here as Pittsburgh has found some groove now.
Even when we do get pressure, we are gonna have trouble in coverage.
Hope the offense can regroup.
Gotta shake that sequence off.
To Herbstreit's point, he's 5 foot 11 covering a 6'4 TE.
That wasn’t Holmes
Bingo. Steelers are shocked Giants are game to play. Which makes sense, outside of those blue tinted goggles we've been whatever the antithesis is of elite level. NFL views as a joke.
Isaac Yiadom. Not the rook
Early in the game yes, but that was a killer.
Technique
That wasn’t Holmes coveting Juju on that TD, it was the DB they got from Denver.
Is Holmes 27? I thought Yiadom is 27, Holmes 30.

Agree... not only that but as a safety Peppers has potentially multiple assignments pre-snap. he had to react to what Pittsburgh did post snap and essentially had to "catch up" to Ebron. Peppers was lined up a bit deep and to the outside.
Good job by Jones securing that ball.
how many years does DG get to build this group up. They are going to get Jones and Barkley killed back there
Highlight of the game so far.
Not with the same amount of obvious arm extension.
agree
There is never a scenario where he should have to block both of those guys. We have a serious issue with the blocking scheme
Yeah, I'd like to see him move a little as well.
This is exactly the protection that Barkley picked the player up on the Slayton TD
He had two rushers and had to pick the inside guy, but froze
Agreed and never go back on the field.
Yup. Overall the Giants came to play tonight, but this OL still has a way to go.

Right, he picks up one and the RB or TE (in this case RB) gets the other
He had no idea who to block because the interior portion of the wine All blocked away from him and he had to deal with the B and the C gap.
They are cleaning that up as we speak
Fleming keeps this up... Peart will start wk 2.
Yes!

Again, Fleming can't pick up 2 guys. Someone missed an assignment
just a bit of an exaggeration? This is not even in the top 10 worst halves for a GIANTS player...
Gonna day the same. Thing. Best I’ve seen Carter ever look.
Yup, Carter has been a presence so far
Great time for a 3 and out

Overall I think Thomas is not doing too bad as a rookie going up against the Steelers in his first game. They're not running over or through him. He'll get better.
This game has been a rock fight.
The speed, anticipation and tackling all seem vastly different than last year.
Agreed. He’s making those first people miss in really close quarters.

I agree. There’s a lot of confusion right now with a new rookie LT, new Center, first game ever, and new RT.
He can take a deep set, What he needs to make sure nothing gets inside.
The issues in the running game have nothing to do With Thomas but rather with the blocking scheme .

They seem confident as hell too.
They tried to slow down pass rush with play action. Didn’t work
Why is Engram still on the team?
Giants can't run the ball at all. Otherwise, they aren't all that bad.
Kind of easy when nobody is blocking him!
Quote:
Thomas has to look outside first, and the RB or TE needs to pick up the second rusher once Fleming/THomas gets the first

Yup, that’s really a function of 3 new starters on the OL and no preseason games, IMO.

Fact. But when they have guys unblocked on multiple plays it’s assignment mixups too
Is it the Giants front 7 or the lack of Pittsburgh execution?
Peart will be the RT sooner then later and I think we’ll see Fleming go to the bench later in the year.
+1.
He is going to get hurt eventually behind this terrible offensive line.
Works against man coverage. Seems like they’re mostly playing zone against us
All those DBs and he was wide open.

You are going to hurt yourself.

8 carries for -8 yards. No RB in the league is taking this kind of punishment.
Holmes looks totally lost.
Love with a total garbage effort not he tackle there. Pulled up and it cost them a touchdown.
This team just lacks talent. There's some positives but they just are so behind other teams as far as talent goes.
so was our DC
its clear we don't have the corners to play man 2 man every play and he didn't change it up. Horrible coaching
Defense looked gassed, plus the slants were beating them on that drive.
We have a superstar RB who could break loose at any moment.
Fucking chill
Plus offense is now playing dead and defense is on field too long so last drive looked like a foregone conclusion
dude thats every team in the NFL
There was no way we were going into the half with the lead. Same old team.
Chill. We may not win but they are fighting...against a "better team".

Give it a couple of weeks to gauge talent. Lots of rookies and second year players, everybody in a new system. Nobody's playing instinctively yet.
The light will come on for some guys, but not every guy.
I'm sick of watching utter crap. Everyone on this site knew the Steelers were scoring 7 there. And it'll probably be 23-10 before we blink in the 3rd quarter.
they scored
Engram and the run blocking just horrible.
Judge come on man didnt challenge that, cost the giants 4 points.
Not enough pressure in the 2 minute drill.
DJ has to be better cant keep making those dumb INT and dumb fumbles....although it should have been a TD.

I don’t think they’re that far off. There’s still holes, sure, but it’s a new scheme on both sides. They have to get more comfortable in the schemes and understand where they need to be on certain plays. This is not surprising.
That first half would not have been different if Lawrence was QB
Not too sure about that. The defense is excellent, but the offense is average. Can’t compete with KC or Baltimore in the AFC.

our secondary, oline, and pass rush are still one of the leagues worst units...he's invested a ton of of capital at all spots and has yet to put together even a league avg unit. He should have been shown the door 2 years ago.

Even if they did challenge that, it would have been a clear Giants recovery, but dead at the spot of recovery, right? Since they didn't let them play through it on the field?
Yup, and this Steeler team is a legit SB contender if Ben is healthy enough.
That’s Giants D for ya 🤦🏾♂️
Perhaps Peart is the starter by mid-season?

I'm not so sure about that. Dupree is having a good game. I can't focus on him each snap of course but I can't see how he is holding his own with this rushing attack and the pressure I am seeing. Fleming got smoked a few times too.

Thomas locked up on Dupree several times at stopped him. Dupree running free when a TE or pulling OL is supposed to pick him up

Dupree looks good against our TEs. Against Thomas... Not so much.
IF they dont start running the ball they have no shot. You cant have negative yards rushing and expect to win
“Saquad” runs with the physicality of Tarik Cohen.
Engram has been a disappointment since the day he was drafted.
Sheppard has been a ghost.
The guys people were concerned about heading into tonight have actually held up ok.
We all knew the Giants OL would struggle against the league's best front 7.
I felt our defense would stop the run and they have.
We still have good special teams despite a few injuries.
But overall the Steelers are a seasoned system team and they will put it together before we do.
the PI on engram was shaky especially since they didnt call it on claypool. we have to stop with penalties as they kill drives.
otherwise OL looks ok.
Our "blocking TE" got abused by Dupree too.

+1. This is something we have all known for a long time. Evan Engram is a losing football player.

Dupree is not doing against Thomas when they are matched up. There have been some plays where one can question whether Thomas should have been blocking him when he blocked inside.
Question:How many times will we leave Bud Dupree uncovered to smack Saquon in the backfield in second half?

Agreed I already like Judge, Garrett, and Graham. But good god this is DG’s 3rd year and we’re still okay with being completely devoid of talent?
What was the timeframe BBIers were saying we’d have to give him to build a competitive squad that isn’t the dregs of the league? 6-7 years? Damn can’t wait for 2024 then
I think fourth quarter will be a different story. We’ll see how conditioned they are in game 1 after playing a whole game. Oline needs to impose its will and right now it appears they are being outmaneuvered.

shep has been fine. and barkley has too. he's getting hit 5 yards in the backfield

This doesn't feel like a hopeless team right now, and we felt hopeless most weeks under Shurmur. It's frustrating but come on damnit, we have to make progress and we are.
Hopefully Colombo makes the necessary adjustments and I'll take the way every other Giant is playing, with the exception of the dropped passes.
Agree...a Pitt TD here and this one’s over.

Agree. It looks like Zietler missed that block twice on what should have been the weak side. They need to take that play out of their playbook. They’re better off having Thomas pick up the man on the inside and have Hernandez counter to pick up Dupree.

Graham is getting a bit too cute with some of his formations....

Seriously. Let’s not start firing coaches just yet
now we need to move the ball about 25 yards before we punt again...
Hope the offense finds a way to run the ball themselves!

I do not think you can really compete in the league today without a QB who can run for the sticks
"playing"
1st and Goal inside the 5. I see 3 TE sets down here. Exhausted defense.
Can’t do that young man.
throw it away live to fight again
He was trying to throw it away
You’re right, the OL isn’t great. But he needs to tuck that away. That one was on DJ.
My complaint is that he waited too long to throw it away. Either get rid of it sooner or take the sack.
You're an idiot
just flip it out of bounds he is out of the pocket no reason to load up he has to have better awareness dupree was there. Flip that out and play 3rd down.
that is a rookie move
He was near the sideline, he threw it downfield.
Yes, but still nobody was open anyway
This is what young and inexperienced teams do. They beat themselves.
No TD off the Pittsburgh muffed punt.
Engram's miscues.
Missed assignments by the OL.
Jones's INTs, especially the second one.
Part of playing QB is knowing when to just throw it away.

This is a young, rising team. Surround him with real blockers and playmakers.
Turnover?
Nope! Bummer!!!!

Sure, but he still has a long way to go to be a good QB. The hope is he gets more experience and gets better. But he's not a good QB yet.
We pretty much had to play mistake free football to have a real chance to win.
OK!! There you go.
give DG an extension!
Great recognition

I’ve seen Eli make those mistakes too. It worked out pretty good with him. DJ is still learning. This is only his 14th game IIRC
Saquon finally finds a lane and you play action on the 7. It's insane
That was a horrible decision by Jones. You can’t blame Garrett there.
Saquon finally finds a lane and you play action on the 7. It's insane
I hate the rollout to the left, just too difficult to can the ball off quickly
Key to 4th quarter: freaking score a TD! I mean unreal how we can execute so well for 18 straight and then "DUCK" into the endzone.
That coverage sack was nice though. Showed we had guys covered and Ben got cocky thinking he was 28 again.
Me too, I amazed at the response (but I guess I shouldn't be since its the same old game thread). I think Jones has been our best offensive player
Like trying to throw it away and getting your arm hit? Are people on drugs?
He tried way too late. And theres no excuse because he was just in his field of vision. He's gotta feel that.
If you aren't happy with Jones, I suggest you have your pick from any of the vaunted Darnold class.
Jones is hardly the problem tonight. That was a bad play but he’s basically the only guy who has shown up.
i agree. i think he was tryin to do too much... he is young shit happens.
we are down 9 points in the 4th quarter.

Yup. We wouldn’t have even been in the red zone if not for Jones having a great drive. I agree with your perspective
You realize the defense made them right? He didn’t throw it at a wide open defender like Winston did 2-3 times per game.
16 off turnovers
Watching the game with my dad and he's yelling the same thing
He does great and then he doesn’t just make one little mistake. He makes huge mistakes at critical times. Throw it away, get the 3. He didn’t need to be a hero.
Quote:
Can we talk about the number of plays where they leave Dupree completely unblocked? One chip would have taken him right out of the play completely. And why run Jones left where he has to throw across his body. Not a good play. Saquon also left a huge hole to the left a few plays before.
If you aren't happy with Jones, I suggest you have your pick from any of the vaunted Darnold class.

It was one bad play after an excellent drive which he showed some guys and drive to get the first down. Think they can feel the weight and pressure of this defense constantly suffocating them. I don’t. Fault the kid he has shown some amazing stuff so far.

This is a good team we're losing to and people explaining that we'll be fine and then it quickly turned into a good moral lesson. Losing by 9 to a team with a 59 year old quarterback and we have 0 running game is something to be proud of.
running out of chances now.
you guys expected to win? i am SHOCKED our defense has done this good lol
This team just lacks talent. I think the coaching last year was shit, but the talent on the team is just not good.
If D can’t hold them here, then it’s all but over. We did a decent job most of the game until the Steelers D woke up.
you guys expected to win? i am SHOCKED our defense has done this good lol
You bleed blue, but when you're watching you expect them to lose? How odd.

"Fuck this! Thanks Gettleman! Jones is Jameis Winston! Same old Giants!!!"

That’s not what I’d hoped for tonight. The loss matters less than those two stat lines, because they are so familiar to us.

This is competitive?
Really? He’s been the lone bright point on offense.
Not with Gettleman making the decisions.
He has no running game, the OL is shit , and his weapons are Slayton and scrubs.
we need to go corner in round 1 come april
Thank You ^^^^^^
LMFAO. dupree would have 6 sacks vs last years giants. last years defense would give up 40 to ben.
the team is CLEARLY improved. you guys need to think about who we are playing...their front 7 is top 3 in all of football
Yeah he's having a really rough night.
he was a late round pick....
Some of this shit is hilarious. Even for a game thread. Just fucking pathetic.

I hear you. That's how I think at the start of the game. But then I get caught up in the game and all reason goes out the window.

Bench the kid. Let’s get Cody out there
Really? He’s been the lone bright point on offense.
Who is Codu. Ask him.
Yup, he’s a huge upgrade at MLB
Pittsburgh converts a 3rd and 4 on a crossing route and I'm telling you the Steelers will now dominate the rest of the way. Sad that we stood strong for much of the game but you can't lose the turnover battle against good teams.
That should be enough.
We gave the game away. We beat ourselves. No mortal victories because it was "close."
We've got to get our run game going, but I'm not sure we got a great snapshot tonight against THIS defense.
Hard to tell still just how good or bad we are there, because the Steelers D is so good.
But saying that Jones sucks, or Barkley sucks, or taking out your drunken emotion on Gettleman... Give this season a chance to breathe.
6th round, what you expect
Comments like this, you'd think the score was 190-10.
It's Reese's fault.
RB's mean sh*t if you don't have a good offensive line. It's why drafting a RB that high never makes sense...like ever!
Agreed.
several positives
1. martinez. wow he makes plays at POA
Impressed with his play today. He’s a huge upgrade. Unfortunately our secondary is still suspect at best.
Quote:
Gettleman. Mara was an idiot for not firing him and cleaning house completely
It's Reese's fault.
No it is not. This is DG's roster and has been his roster.
Barkley's best years are being wasted on this team.
Yup. Completely blew 3 years of premium assets. Hopefully we have a QB is only positive. The rest of his picks are JAGs. And Barkley at 2 was and is malpractice.
Pathetic

the man has had 3 straight years of top 6 picks...and the team still clearly lack high level talent.
enough of reese fault DG has had ample timme to at least put a competitive team out there.
You just started watching football last year?

By the time the OL is competent and the roster is playoff worthy, Barkley will be on another team...
Carter needs to stay off the ground.
Ballentine has no confidence and isn’t good with the ball in the air.
Hexed!

It's Reese's fault because reasons man. Gettleman is a better GM and Eli would've won 5 rings if a guy at the bus station was GM.
^This.
He wanted to be different. I think that DG is the biggest mistake.
Yes he did. But the refs called it incomplete.

I was being facetious, sorry.
It's BBI, the site has become rife with morons
agreed. both are very good signings
that was the true turning point.
Hung around until they woke up and choked the life out of them.
Yeah i see a team trying hard with no talent.
Game has been over for about 10 minutes unfortunately.
On to Chicago.
Hes not a guy who adjusts his system to his talent. I can see that after one game.
thats what i was hopimg not to see. the laughing how easy it is
The Get Right Team
Jones is a QB. He's operating under extreme pressure. That's it. They lack playmakers on offense and the O line is not there yet. One game against a very good D, can't get too down on them
Quote:
.
that was the true turning point.
Noooo. All rainbows and roses. He's only 12 years old and it's the first time he's picked up a football. Eli had a bad 3rd year, you know.
If they can keep progressing we have some hope.
Martinez looks good.
They are lost on these crossing routes.
Hes not a guy who adjusts his system to his talent. I can see that after one game.
His defense has been awful. I do not understand what they are trying to do. Ben cannot throw downfield, why are we leaving slants open
because John Mara sucks at owning a franchise
Yeah, most 6th round picks are. Who knew baker and Beal would be out
Like a couple of us having been saying, RB's are a dime-a-dozen in this league. Don't waste your cap space, or your high picks on them.
Quote:
satisfied with this "progress", what exactly has been encouraging?
Yeah i see a team trying hard with no talent.
I am wondering who that is dupe of as only came September 2020 to bash Giants. Nobody expected a win, but to be within a TD for 3 quarters to a playoff team is a significant step forward.
Quote:
all that talk about understanding that this is a team with an entirely new coaching staff and several new players and no preseason games and to take whatever happens with that understanding......thats all out the window now???
It's BBI, the site has become rife with morons
Its more frustration with the little things that could have been controlled. Jones had a Mahomes style drive only to make a mind numbing decision, he could have thrown it away. Barkley misses blocks again, Oline cant block on a straight ahead run. Some of these things are controllable and dont require scheming.
No running back could get yardage with the way the Giants run block.
The Giants have a couple of high quality young players. But they still have a really bad offensive line, not nearly enough at WR, and a really ugly secondary.
I think Judge is going to be fine, but the talent gap remains steep.
Another first round bust . This sets us back another 8-10 years
So what. This is a 3 score loss.
Hey but to be fair he only had 30 draft picks to work with
the giants are embarrassing
keep them out of the endzone if you don't want to see them celebrate
What do you expect him to do? Make five guys miss behind the LOS?
Yeah he missed a block in pass protection. But uhhh, everything else isn’t his fault.
Quote:
His play last year and tonight he is nowhere close to a top RB in the league .

He can’t even get to the line without getting hit. Run blocking is pitiful right now

It was a bad decision. He also had a Mahomes style drive the previous 18 plays. He basically drove the team 90 yards himself. Gotta relax a little there. Kid can play.
I'll post it tomorrow. Only 5 offensive holding penalties called across all games this week

I doubt they'll be that bad. But yes.
Agreed on that. He is a special talent at qb.
Quote:
but if this team is bad enough to get the number 1 pick you take Trevor Lawrence and you dont think twice

we wont be pickin #1. and IF we were, we would trade down and take the picks. jones is the goods. you guys just hate gettleman, its almost like youre rooting for jones to suck. kid hasnt even started 16 games in his career and he runs the offense like a seasoned vet. his INT in redzone was FIRST EVER. he was trying to make a play that wasnt there. he will learn. he faced a great defense tonight with a young and raw OL.
You sound like the Fire Coughlin "fans" from 06
Yeah that was not great game management. Had to burn a time out on defense too. Not a crisp game by the sideline.
OL is still garbage. Secondary is still garbage. Defense still can't get stops when they need one. And as far as "oh, they competed!" goes, they have played a lot of games just like this over the past three years including against good teams.
Three Dave Gettleman offseasons and the talent level still sucks.
Only Mara knows

i swear you are the MOST NEGATIVE dude ever
the OL isnt "garbage" they are a young unit in their first game together. thomas looks like the goods. the OL is a sum of parts, takes time to gel. the secondary you HAD to know was gonna struggle. they have 4th and 5th rounders starting. they are missing 2nd and 3rd corner and starting FS.
we all knew that unit would have growing pains
Stop. The fire Gettleman guys might put their pitchforks down.
Ahh who the fuck am I kidding. They are superglued to their hands...

Okay, but they still had to drive the field and Jones had to make some plays. Do you think Pittsburgh wanted them to score?

Exactly how I feel....week 1 is always a crapshoot anyhow, ESPECIALLY with the circumstances as the are this year. Just want to see improvement from week to week, correct whats correctable, keep competing. Gonna take some time to work all these new guys in.

Engram is not good at football
its still doesn't fix the giants need at least 2 more top tier OL, an elite pass rushing, and at least one more good player in the secondary.
What a find

There were a couple of drives where he looked elite tonight. But I also understand the argument for rebooting with a chance to upgrade the most important position in the game and in professional sports.

he will be a good NFL qb. I don't think he is the issue. That was my arguement. He makes enough good plays to make you think he will be fine. Lawerence still doesn't fact we can't run block, we can't guard any WR's, or we can't sack the QB.
All those posistions of need require high draft picks to get good ones.
I was disappointed in the run-blocking mostly

Eli was dominant. I'll point out 2 reasons why:
* Literally every WR and TE the Giants had during the Eli tenure except Visanthe Shiancoe left the Giants and was nowhere near as good.
* The 2011 Giants were 26th in defense, 32nd in rushing yards, 32nd in yards per carry, and 32nd in giving up QB pressures. Eli threw that team into a ring.
