The Steelers are an elite defense and arguable a Super Bowl contender. The Giants played tough. Not converting a TD after the muffed punt and the Jones red zone pick killed us.
But, this team was scrappy tonight & may have faced the toughest defense they’ll see all year.
Improvement is key in the next few weeks. But, it isn’t all bad.
Plenty to clean up, plenty to feel good about.
There's a few positives, but not a whole lot.
Still one of the worst rosters in the sport. Barkley's talent is immense, but with the state of the roster most of his prime is going to be wasted away on a garbage team.
As bad as Fleming was, Gates was the weakest link tonight. Getting driven into the backfield on every play. Want to cut him some slack though since its a new position with no game-reps going against a strong DL.
Hernandez continues to be uninspiring. May not be worthy of a second contract at this rate.
At least Thomas has looked solid in his debut
Plenty to clean up, plenty to feel good about.
This is the NFL. Not a MAC school traveling to Columbus, ohio.
They're down 16 points with 5 minutes to go.
If we're encouraged because they didn't get their doors blown off, then this fanbase has become so accustomed to losing they're just happy if there's a second half to watch.
Daniel Jones is the one promising part about this team. Maybe Slayton too. Not much else
There are some pieces on this team..
Offensive line held up passing, thomas looked pretty good

If you cant even post under your real handle why should anyone take you seriously? Socrates AND Plato sign up for accounts this month. Helluva coincidence.

I mean we got our asses kicked but two fluky turnovers. Gotta play better. Who knows. Just get better every week or month. Please.
They weren't fluky. The first was a great read by Watt, but it was a bad read and throw by Jones. Without Watt, that would still by a bad throw behind Engram.
I have been done with Evan Engram for 2 years so nothing new there.
The Good:
Jones has all the potential in the world.
Pass rush looked more active.
Logan Ryan will be a big help.
agree, same shit
I feel more indifferent than encouraged. Hopefully they improve.
The OL still looks among the worst. The secondary looks bad. The pass rush is inconsistent. The couldn't come up with stops when they needed them. We got a gift on the muffed punt and settled for 3 when the ball started on the 3. We handed the ball back after a Peppers PR gave us excellent field position. We allowed the score before the half. We allowed the drive after the 2nd INT and then immediately gave the ball right back for another score.

The majority of posters here said they hoped for competitive football. Well, they played competitive football against a good team. Yet the whiners are out in force.
Plenty to clean up, plenty to feel good about.

Thomas played well, big deal for a rookie LT. Martinez had a really good game. Carter took a step. DL looks very good. We had a pass rush. The start of the 3rd quarter was a big difference from last year, getting the stop and moving the ball on the most methodical drive Ive seen in years. Special teams with a turnover and solid punt returns.
Its not a finished product, clearly. And hey, if you want to be miserable by all means, you're entitled. But there are positives if you want to acknowledge them.
Plenty to clean up, plenty to feel good about.
Screw that! Competitive football without Ws sucks as bad as getting your butt whooped. It's early, but seeing signs of the last 3 or 4 years still showing up is not encouraging. Sloppy win over a competitive loss works for me all day, because that leads to meaningful games in December.
lets fix things and beat the bears
You must not have watched them play. They may not have as dynamic a pass rushing group as Pitt, but that's only because Chase is a Rookie. Their interior line is stout and Ryan is a very good pass rusher. Chase showed signs that he's very much worthy of the #2 pick. Secondary is garbage, but that Line is good.
OL looked better at pass pro, but the run blocking is atrocious.
You guys might disagree, but the coverage looks much improved to me. We aren't seeing a lot of blown coverages or miscommunications.
Defense showed good signs, need to find another corner on the outside, wouldnt be shocked to see ryan out there next week..
This team will beat Chicago by 10 points. And I never make predictions like that.

A ton of ppl here thought this is a 3 win team, but now you’re all bent out of shape for losing to a top 5 defense and arguable SB contender?
I did not think this was a 3 win team. I was not sure what it would be, but was expecting better than the 4 wins last year and 5 the year before. Tonight, they didn't look significantly better than those teams, in my opinion. Most disappointing is how bad the OL looked.
They looked bad running, but pass blocking Jones had plenty of time
As you often say, it won't make a difference in the outcome.
Complain or get behind the team it makes zero difference.
It may be tedious to listen to, but it changes nothing, so why does it matter?
Pass blocking was good.
Defense did a good job stopping the run for 3 QTR's.
I really like what I saw from Jason Garrett's playcalling.
2nd year QB with less than 16 starts
NEW scheme
NEW LT
NEW OL working to gel together
YOUNG defense with a NEW captain, 4th and 5th rounders starting in secondary
GOOD steelers team with a GREAT front 7
They have had the same HC and QB for a LONG time
The giants had a good showing considering NO preseason, limited camps, covid, etc. we have to have some patience.
The positives:
1. martinez and bradberry look like really solid adds. martinez is GREAT at POA
2. thomas looks so legit considering his first game against a stud front
3. the pass rush actually did okay, williams and d law looked awesome
4. slayton is an ABSOLUTE #1. I have no clue why people dont think the giants have a #1 WR. the guy does it all.
5. Jones looked good, he runs the offense well. throws a sharp ball with great accuracy. the redzone INT was his FIRST EVER and i think it was a result of him trying to make a play that wasnt there and throwing it away too late.
overall, i feel good. we beat the bears next week
Even though that 19 play drive ended in a mistake how do you not watch that and realize we have something here with this kid?

Tonight was telling for the fanbase here. Nearly *everyone* called this a 3 to 6 win team and said they wanted competitive football. Then they play a competitive but surely flawed game against a really good team and a lot of people are freaking the fuck out and claiming nothing has changed. When plenty surely fucking has.
People can say they have low expectations but a lot of them are full of shit. Im not saying you should like losing. But if you cant see past your disappointment and see the differences from last year until tonight you need to take a breath and step away from the tv for a minute.
He was sacked 3 times and hit 8 more.
11 times out of 41 drop backs and that doesn't include the hurries or plays Jones used his athleticism to avoid a sack and there was plenty of those.
