The Steelers are an elite defense and arguable a Super Bowl contender. The Giants played tough. Not converting a TD after the muffed punt and the Jones red zone pick killed us.
But, this team was scrappy tonight & may have faced the toughest defense they’ll see all year.
Improvement is key in the next few weeks. But, it isn’t all bad.

Chicago next Sunday.
This team will beat Chicago by 10 points. And I never make predictions like that.
If they don’t, we might not see a win until after Columbus Day...

D is very solid and we got a lot of early pressure on Ben.
OL looked better at pass pro, but the run blocking is atrocious.
You guys might disagree, but the coverage looks much improved to me. We aren't seeing a lot of blown coverages or miscommunications.
Tonight was telling for the fanbase here. Nearly *everyone* called this a 3 to 6 win team and said they wanted competitive football. Then they play a competitive but surely flawed game against a really good team and a lot of people are freaking the fuck out and claiming nothing has changed. When plenty surely fucking has.
People can say they have low expectations but a lot of them are full of shit. Im not saying you should like losing. But if you cant see past your disappointment and see the differences from last year until tonight you need to take a breath and step away from the tv for a minute.
it's the way it goes. Hell, Washington went from a doormat to having the most fearsome pass rush in NFL history in the span of 60 minutes.
Weak link which is no surprise.
I’m encouraged by that. Wouldn’t happen under the last two coaches especially after halftime. Need continuity to be better on the line. Give it a few Days and you’ll feel better about this performance if you’re one crying about it right now.
But that said, they played Pitt tougher than I thought they would. OL did better than I thought it would, gotta figure they'll get better. Jones with a dumb mistake that really took us out of the game. Still, he showed signs. Just gotta keep improving.
One thing I'll complain about... Engram. This guy will never show up when it counts.

time to quit complaining about the talent and get behind what we’ve got.
As you often say, it won't make a difference in the outcome.
Complain or get behind the team it makes zero difference.
It may be tedious to listen to, but it changes nothing, so why does it matter?
It matters because constantly reading the same things are tiresome. Sure, I can ignore it but it isn’t insightful, brings nothing to the table.
So I guess keep repeating it?
Yes, I want to see some competitive football and this game was for a half. Then Roethlisberger got into gear, drove for that TD before the half and then it started to unravel. Even that 90 yard drive...it was looking like a thing of beauty, with some adjustments made at halftime. Then Jones tries to make an ill advised throw and the D allows Pitt to drive most of the field for a FG. That felt like the game slipping away right there. Then they follow it up with another quick drive and allowing Roethlisberger to take them right down the field again for a TD to put it away.
This game felt like a ton of games over the last few years.
And, I am not blaming Jones or worried. I truly like what we have in him. I just saw enough today from the OL to be disappointed not just for tonight, but for what comes after.
All I will say in addition to all this, is with Peart active tonight, I take that as a promising sign. I would have Fleming on a short leash, because if this team is going to suck, then what do we lose by playing the rookie, who is likely to be our RT for a number of years?
There’s no moral victory but that doesn’t mean every loss is created equally. I’ve seen worse than tonight. I’m curious to see this team going forward. I think there could be some questions we really were unsure of that we see answered in a positive light this season.
How could you be surprised that they would disagree with your positive take, or better yet, why would you care.
2nd year QB with less than 16 starts
NEW scheme
NEW LT
NEW OL working to gel together
YOUNG defense with a NEW captain, 4th and 5th rounders starting in secondary
GOOD steelers team with a GREAT front 7
They have had the same HC and QB for a LONG time
The giants had a good showing considering NO preseason, limited camps, covid, etc. we have to have some patience.
The positives:
1. martinez and bradberry look like really solid adds. martinez is GREAT at POA
2. thomas looks so legit considering his first game against a stud front
3. the pass rush actually did okay, williams and d law looked awesome
4. slayton is an ABSOLUTE #1. I have no clue why people dont think the giants have a #1 WR. the guy does it all.
5. Jones looked good, he runs the offense well. throws a sharp ball with great accuracy. the redzone INT was his FIRST EVER and i think it was a result of him trying to make a play that wasnt there and throwing it away too late.
overall, i feel good. we beat the bears next week
Dude...WTF!!!
You know this is no place for rational thought!!!
