Could Judge have challenged the play that Jones actually fumbled? If so would that have been ruled a TD or we can't advance a fumble? It was glossed over pretty quickly during the broadcast.
I didnt think it would have been a TD bjt we wohld have had ball at inch line and a jones sneak probably scores. Def could have changed things some. Also would have help me because i had watt in fantasy haha
(Just kidding. Would have been a strange challenge. "My player absolutely fumbled! This is Jones we're talking about, he's a fumble machine. Ref: You have a point...TD Giants." Papers tomorrow: "Jones keeps fumbling, Giants love it!")
1) Not even the announcers questioned it in real time, and only two BBIers claimed that it was fumble. It looked like a pass, as it went forward 6-8 yards, and
2) If anyone knew it might have been a fumble, it would have been Jones. He didn't say anything or encourage Judge to challenge it.
And it looked that way in real time and on the replay it was very clear. There was time before the snap to replay. That was my perspective. And we do have Amos Jones who I believe is supposed to be on that sort of stuff.
More about the incredibly high expectations that that sort of detail wouldn’t go unnoticed, and the fact there is a special projects coach, it’s the sort of thing his mentor would have caught. But, totally nitpicking a minor, nuanced point that will leave a lesson, on an otherwise extremely impressive Head Coaching debut.
His first game ever as a head coach. Well done, just to be clear overall.
Didn't get both feet established in bounds when he recovered that fumble? I thought that was worth a challenge.
I don't think that gets the Giants anywhere because it would just mean the ball was dead when JuJu touched it and possession reverts to the last player who had possession, the ball carrier.

This is correct. I don’t think you challenge that play, but the right call should’ve occurred.

but if the Giants are like most teams, the HC has to rely on people watching replays to communicate to him when he needs to challenge a play. And I'm guessing nobody did.

I'm sure i heard one of the announcers questioning whether it might have been a fumble. And losing the timeout if the play was not overturned would not be that harmful in the first half.
but it would have been interesting for a coach to challenge and say my qb actually fumbled.

It still would be 4th and goal. Why waste a challenge on that?
This is my memory, haven’t rewatched.

3rd and goal.
Then pass went incomplete to Engram.

It happened on second down and would have been third and goal, maybe inside the 1 if not a TD.
The third and goal play was the pass in Engrams's direction that he only got a finger on.
My bad

Ah. My bad
Would have been a strange challenge, but they probably would have won it.
Good learning moment for Judge and getting someone to track these things to help out.
The problem is, the coverage of these games has SUCKED! You don't see a replay until it is too late most of the time.
Or, you just don't see one at all. Not just this game, all the games are like this. I guess the NFL is trying to save money...
