That means we had 16 designed rushes for a total of 7 yards. Not gonna win many games if DJ is gonna have to carry the team throwing the ball and running for his life.
Defense was credible for most of the game, so that’s something to build on, but the hat O line had better shape up or it will be another very long season.
6 receptions for what, 60+ yards? That's an extension of the run game. And SB was targeted a lot more than that.
They tried to get him the ball, Steeler D had a good plan and adjusted to our adjustments. In so many ways the Steelers dictated to us on both sides of the ball what we did. That's why they won. They had answers for our plans, we really didn't. The 19 play drive was the best effort and to me, that was the game. Not getting 7 there, and not getting 7 off the special teams blunder put way behind.
They often lost track of Steelers receivers and on one Steeler touchdown, ran into each other. Losing Baker hurt (not saying he should come back), and we won't see McKinney until week 12 at the earliest.
As for the running game, it may not improve unless Judge/Garrett decide to play Penny on running plays. Takes away a receiver, but Parcells had great success running the ball when the FB blocked.

How exactly did losing Baker hurt? He wasnt any better

Losing Baker hurt because Ballentine doesn’t even look like he belongs in the NFL at this point
where are you getting the week 12 info from on McKinney? The McKinney fracture should not be a really long injury. He could be back in 6-8 weeks from the time he injured it, which was August 26.
RE: I am.not sure Tate changes things that much....
The defense bottling up Barkley and with Engram so so play, Shepard with 6 quiet catches....
The Giants need more weapons....
Slayton can not be only playmaker, which seemed like the case last night.
The Giants need to pick an offensive philosophy and build on that. They spent the 2nd pick in the draft on a rb and won't commit to getting him run blockers and become a hammer and tongs running team. They then go and spend the 6th pick in the draft to run a dink and dunk passing game with slugs for receivers (Slayton excepted). They didn't need to spend the 6th pick for that; they could have taken Mineshew or Lock or signed the Beard for that matter if that's what they wanted to do. If you are going to spend the 6th pick in the draft on a qb, then go and get him some speedsters and guys who can pass block and attack the field.
This team is a mess philosophically and is not putting either of these draft picks to their best use.

Stay healthy, fix the mental errors, keep focused, and good things can happen.

Not sure how shiny he really is anymore. Cant block, mediocre hands, really a WR who has never played WR.
One of the beats said it was likely just cramps, and he was back out on the field afterward.
