so if he's traded he's going to either want A. and extension or B. future salary converted into guarantees. That's the risk trading for him from a financial standpoint.

a weapon. he is a guy that demands a lot of looks but doesn't do his part.
Not true at all. He isn't the weapon he once was but he's still got plenty. The question is about motivation and attitude which is completely different and justified.
As far as comp Cooks was traded (along with a 4th) for a 2nd - so I'm guessing that it would have to be atleast be in that range.
but at least he isn't a malcontent. So, I wouldn't do that trade straight up. In fact, I can't think of a reason the Giants would want Beckham back even if it was in exchange for a bag of kicking tees.
“I’m going to have to get adjusted to the speed because he has an arm,” Beckham said, according to Cleveland.com. “He throws that ball hard. Just catching from him the first day, it was like, ‘Wow! This is completely different.’”
Loads of talent, could have been a NY icon, forces his way out because of his ego and ultimately becomes an afterthought. Id say it a terrible shame but he got a huge contract out of the deal!
the Browns should trade Odell because Mayfield sucks and can't/won't get the ball to him down the field. He's wasted on the Browns and the Browns might as well trade him and get something they can use
with $0 guaranteed is a worthy gamble for somebody. I wouldnt give up a lot, but an exchange of broken toys or a mid/low draft pick wouldn't be a bad move, even for the NYG.
I'm sure I'm in the minority on that view, but to me the upside well outweighs the downside given the ability to cut financial ties cleanly at any time.
Beckham to rebound some this year. He's not who he was but he has enough to become relevant again for another season or two. I'm starting to think that Baker Mayfield is what will hold him back from that. Look at the stat line from Sunday. No way OBJ dropped all those passes. If he is traded, I would expect him to produce better.
RE: RE: Ha ha ha ha! Will everyone who knocked DG when he traded OBJ
I'm here to take my whuppin' but lets not pretend that DG hasnt been a disaster.
Maybe a little to early to say for certain but all signs point to that they seemingly have transitioned from one franchise QB to another. That isn't common, or easy for a GM to do, and even that alone would make it plainly clear that DG hasn't been a disaster.
Only time will determines how good a job he has done as the Giants GM. If he gets the QB, head coach, and a few other pieces in place that go on to compete for championships, then he will have been a very good one.

He may have gotten the QB right which is obviously a feather in his cap but his FA moves have been atrocious and we have already cut a 1st round pick whom he used 3 picks on. He has squandered assets and this team still looks woefully deficient in talent despite having almost 30 draft picks the last few years.
I’d like to see him moved to the slot where he may still show off elite short area quickness. The sooner that happens, the better. Those soccer skills could be very handy and he can still get his numbers.
According to overthecap.com, OJB's current contract counts about $14-15M against the cap over the next 4 years. That is pretty reasonable for #1 WR in the NFL. I don't want to trade assets to get OBJ back, but I can imagine that playoff caliber teams with holes at WR would probably take look. The 49ers seem to make the most sense from needs perspective, but Browns would probably have to eat $6-7M of his 2020 salary to make it work with their current cap number.
like SF may have to decide whether Odell the talent is worth the disruption that comes with it.
Just being able to catch a ball is one thing - doing it while not derailing a team atmosphere is another
What coach would want him? He could have went to the Patriots with Brady, I think they could have handled it. I don't think the Patriots would want to mix him with Cam. What has he done since his injury? If he was open, he would be posting it to Twitter. I don't think he is the same guy anymore. He had elite separation...had.
just about everyone hates spending money on players but now you want to trade back for BEckham?
I wouldn't trade anyone for him. He isn't a bargain anymore even if he plays well, and i'd love him here if he was still a great player. He isn't. And he's expensive. Don't get me wrong I love a good make up story and I think Beckham's rap here is more myth than reality, but this is a business. We traded him at the right time.
.... he's not the same player he was or at least the same player they thought they were getting.
He's been banged up a bit - admittedly defenses were taking borderline cheap shots at him the first two years - and he also had the couple of other injuries which have slowed him into a good receiver - but not top echelon anymore.
And now you get the weirdo attitude BS w/ the guy.......not worth it.
Probably a joke but no thanks.
Why?
You could get OBJ just with one E now probably.

49ers have nothing at wide receiver.
Browns ask for a 2nd rounder and settle for a 3rd rounder plus a non starting player.

But I would LOVE IT if they did.

Or New England. The land of the misfit WRs!
"Can the Browns win the SB?"
Can they get to the fucking playoffs first?

I agree, I think it could happen. They have some cap room and can make more if need be.

Also, let's not forget that there were a few people who proposed trading Beckham well before DG actually did, and they were treated like Galileo.

I would do that trade. Beckham is just a guy now, but EE isn't even that.
