I'm here to take my whuppin' but lets not pretend that DG hasnt been a disaster.
Maybe a little to early to say for certain but all signs point to that they seemingly have transitioned from one franchise QB to another. That isn't common, or easy for a GM to do, and even that alone would make it plainly clear that DG hasn't been a disaster.
Only time will determines how good a job he has done as the Giants GM. If he gets the QB, head coach, and a few other pieces in place that go on to compete for championships, then he will have been a very good one.
He may have gotten the QB right which is obviously a feather in his cap but his FA moves have been atrocious and we have already cut a 1st round pick whom he used 3 picks on. He has squandered assets and this team still looks woefully deficient in talent despite having almost 30 draft picks the last few years.
I’d like to see him moved to the slot where he may still show off elite short area quickness. The sooner that happens, the better. Those soccer skills could be very handy and he can still get his numbers.
According to overthecap.com, OJB's current contract counts about $14-15M against the cap over the next 4 years. That is pretty reasonable for #1 WR in the NFL. I don't want to trade assets to get OBJ back, but I can imagine that playoff caliber teams with holes at WR would probably take look. The 49ers seem to make the most sense from needs perspective, but Browns would probably have to eat $6-7M of his 2020 salary to make it work with their current cap number.
like SF may have to decide whether Odell the talent is worth the disruption that comes with it.
Just being able to catch a ball is one thing - doing it while not derailing a team atmosphere is another
What coach would want him? He could have went to the Patriots with Brady, I think they could have handled it. I don't think the Patriots would want to mix him with Cam. What has he done since his injury? If he was open, he would be posting it to Twitter. I don't think he is the same guy anymore. He had elite separation...had.
just about everyone hates spending money on players but now you want to trade back for BEckham?
I wouldn't trade anyone for him. He isn't a bargain anymore even if he plays well, and i'd love him here if he was still a great player. He isn't. And he's expensive. Don't get me wrong I love a good make up story and I think Beckham's rap here is more myth than reality, but this is a business. We traded him at the right time.
.... he's not the same player he was or at least the same player they thought they were getting.
He's been banged up a bit - admittedly defenses were taking borderline cheap shots at him the first two years - and he also had the couple of other injuries which have slowed him into a good receiver - but not top echelon anymore.
And now you get the weirdo attitude BS w/ the guy.......not worth it.

I would do that trade. Beckham is just a guy now, but EE isn't even that.
