NFT: Bud Dupree as a 2021 FA target?

rasbutant : 9/15/2020 9:23 pm
Seems like a Patrick Graham type of player, capable of playing multiple positions, high motor, high effort guy. I've never noticed him before so I thought he was overrated, but not after last night.

It will be interesting to see what the Steelers do next year.
Big Ben is a 41mil cap hit, 22mil if cut.
Conner is FA
Juju FA
Alejandro Villanueva their LT is a FA
Chris Wormley DT
plus a bunch of other role players.

Right now they are projected to be 16.8 mil over the cap. Big Ben is a big reason for that, so if they want to create space they have lots of variables there. But still, that's a lot of star players to sign in one year, with not a lot of money. If i was them i would prioritize Dupree, but they may not. There would be heavy interest from other teams, might have be make a trade like (Dee Ford, Frank Clark).
Is he worth 25mil/yr average plus a draft pick???

Good DE's are expensive.

Something to keep an eye on as the season progress.
Bud Dupree is

very good. Giants will not be in the market, I think.
Either way

why is this
Giantsfan79 : 9/15/2020 10:48 pm : link

IMO Conner & JuJu are as good as gone

.
Terrific player

Not blocking him and giving him a free release on numerous plays probably made him look a little better than he is.
I think JuJu stays

Conner is gone, just can't be counted on for the season. Its a shame too since he's such a good guy but he can't ever stay healthy.

Bud Dupree isn't a guy I want to pay top dollar for, let alone give up a pick for as well. I'm not sure how he'd do on a lesser talented team - maybe 80% production? He isn't a game wrecker in the mold of Donald, Mack, Watt (peak), etc. I'd rather have Watt but no shot he becomes available.
Dupree is a bit of a tease
j_rud : 9/16/2020 9:44 am : link
He'd been pretty inconsistent and had below avg production until his contract year, which is why he is on the tag now. He did look really good the other night but how much was scheme/focus on Watt? Classic buyer beware FA who feels destined to disappoint if made the focal point of a defense.

this, IMO it's too risky to bet on him being a great player when offenses focus on him rather than TJ Watt.
we are talking FA

too soon. Carter might be the answer. We need attackers but it's still too early. We don't know what we have here yet.

Excellent point. Lots of football to be played and the example of Bud Dupree is an excellent one. He was disappointing until last year. I"m not even going to get into the premise of a contract year but he was probably considered a disappointment until then. That was his 5th year and he was 26.

Carter is entering his 3rd year and 24. Ximines is entering his 2nd year and is 23. Even Leonard Wiliams is entering his 6th year and is 26.

Buyer beware

he was inconsistent and disappointing until his contract year. Make no mistake, the Giants are a team good teams will exploit. He had one good game. Dupree needs to show a ton this season, and even then I wouldn't hand him open market dollars. He's an expensive gamble.
Dupree is a good player
giants#1 : 9/16/2020 10:43 am : link
I wouldn't pay him top ER $$ but he's likely in that 2nd tier. It's not a coincidence his sack #s surged last year with Watt getting more attention from Ds. But if he's you're second best ER, you're going to have a great pressure D.
JuJu is getting paid $$$
GGGGmen : 9/16/2020 11:18 am : link
HE GONE. They drafted Claypool to replace him.
Dupree was good on Monday except for the time
