not something I thought about at the time or since but that tackle by the LS on Peppers was a huge play in the game. If he had shaken loose he probably scores and they go up 17-3.
Instead the next play was the TJ Watt INT which led to a short field TD making it a 10-9 game.
so much thought goes into everything. I would like to see some failures but i doubt a coach would want to do that since it is throwing his own players or coaches under the bus.
Lotta doom and gloomers here, we all know that. But I really believe with Judge and his staff, the arrow is pointing up. We all know the bad plays from Monday, but it's a new energy and roots are being laid down. We're not going to be a pushover team for much longer while he's at the helm.
Of all the film breakdowns I've seen, that was the most
plays. Like for example a play where Pitts had 3 DL players in the backfield waiting for Barkley as he took the handoff
Dont recall the exact saying, but I believe it is something along the lines of "Praise in Public, Criticize in Private". So yeah, wouldnt expect or want the head coach to be calling guys out in public.

Yeah I struggled to get points across early when I was coaching and I had a mentor that would always say "shout praise, whisper criticism". Great advice, not just in coaching either
Punt return then I ever knew. Interestingly I don't remember any penalties on returns Monday night? It use to be every return, I would look for the penalty flags.
that Papa was impressed throughout it. But that was the best breakdown of a special teams play I've ever seen. Really liking Judge so far, I'm actually a little excited for next week now just to see if he get this team to get better as the season goes along..
This is good stuff but do we really need to divulge to our adversaries how we design all our plays. Reminds me of CNN breaking down every move the military makes when we are at war. I know many will think it does not matter but I think it is an unnecessary exercise. How we design our plays and run our offense should not be for public consumption. Why not just put the play book online. Are all teams around the league doing this?
I like to pic of Parcells on the side ... almost like he’s giving his
approval of what’s being said ... but, geez ... JJ talks fast, hope the players can understand what he says ... also, not 1 little slip of an F or MF .... which means most of what he says to the team is intentional and pointed.

I think most NFL coaches are aware of what teams are trying to do with play designs. These guys watch so much film I doubt anything he's saying here isn't basic x's and o's. Judge mentions here what the Steelers do on defense whenever they are in Cover 1. Most teams run the same concepts, it's all about execution in the end.

It’s pretty basic stuff that every team tries to do, I’m more impressed with how Judge communicates rather than the content. There’s no filler words, there’s no stuttering, just clear and concise communication breaking down the plays.
I'm sure Judge knows how not to give away any secrets. These are probably bread and butter ideas to NFL coaches, just not things fans necessarily know. Agree that he's very good at communicating.
This may be master level stuff for fans, but it's preschool for nfl coaches. This isn't any behind the curtain stuff. Can we just enjoy and appreciate the fact we have a coach who isn't a blithering idiot?
that he has to be roughly 5,000 times more charismatic than Pat Shurmur.
It may be superficial, but I think it's reasonable to think that his approach is much more likely to be absorbed, understood, and retained by the players.

He explains it so well that I can understand what he says! Surely the players can too.
No need to worry. He put words to film. If it’s on film, anyone who
breaks it down can do it. Brian Baldinger got re-employed because of his ability to break down tape. Also, this Coach is too detail oriented to allow any sort of information he doesn’t want in public, to be in public. The scrimmages were edited, the press conf vids seem edited, etc.
Major caveat that he needs to win HERE being made, this guy is a winner and a champion and exactly the infusion this org has needed for many years. Formed under the highest pressure, an excellent teacher, passionate about the material, it is easy to see why the team is buying in, as well as the staff and org...
He’s building a program, not just putting a team together for the season. Top down, the organization feels fresh, and I bet it feels pretty damn good inside the building compared to the last few years of starting 0-1.
... that the Giants didn’t hire Ron Rivera and really surprised and disappointed after all the rumors that the Giants didn’t hire Matt Rhule.
Who is Joe Judge?
It’s still very, very early, but right now I believe the Giants made the best head coaching hire not only in the post 2019 hiring, but probably going back a few years before then.
The video is another example of why I think Judge will be successful and the Giants head coach for a long time.
He clearly is very smart and also a great teacher.

I'm shocked. This is the most excited I've been about the Giants since 1984. Unfortunately this year is probably going to be 1983 but that's ok. Hopefully he gets some help from the front office and some good health for his QB and LT. Joe Judge is a keeper. The last time a Giant team looked that well coached was 2008.
than O or D? Maybe more ST coaches should become head coaches.
In some sense it is - you are playing on the entire field versus a LOS primarily and you also are flipping possession in the play. That's a lot of moving parts.
As a Giant fans I am grateful to Little Bill for heads up.
Don't be surprised when Little Bill becomes our next GM. He basically sent Judge to the Giants for a reason.
Bill is great but not really a great GM. People are killing the Leonard Williams trade. Look at the Sanu trade. Brutal. Belichick's drafts aren't better than anybody else if you look at his misses. He misses a ton. Where they do excel is manipulating the draft. Also, they excel in contracts. But this only works because of their reputation. Players know they can compete for a championship so they sign for less. It is basically the only team in football that consistently can do that. Many teams try but fail.
I understand not going over the bad plays -- why tip our hand to other teams about what we're focusing on improving?
Are you talking about going over our good plays such as the TD pass?
Naw, just referring to the posts asking why he didn't show "negative" plays and explaining why things didn't work. I'm sure the rest of the league sees the same videos, but no need to give away what they're focused on improving. And as people have said, Judge doesn't seem the type to call out his players in public when they screw up.
far the best segment we've seen for a NYG coach ever. Part of that is the way modern interviews are done, but Judge just seems to have such a feel for the game and how to analyze it.
I really hope the results follow because even though we're 0-1, I've been extremely impressed with Judge
I believe that the deep safety in the middle of the field moved forward because Engram was breaking free from his coverage. Say what you will about Engram and his ability as a tight end, just his presence can provide openings for other players in the passing game.

Aside from the PR aspect of that, he's not going to go on the Internet to break down his guys' bad plays. He just won't throw guys under the bus that way — and really, no coach should. He might cuss 'em out in the film room, but that's not for public consumption.
Instead the next play was the TJ Watt INT which led to a short field TD making it a 10-9 game.
If coaching doesn't work out, TV could sure use him.
I can see him being the next Madden when he retires from coaching.
Dont recall the exact saying, but I believe it is something along the lines of "Praise in Public, Criticize in Private". So yeah, wouldnt expect or want the head coach to be calling guys out in public.

The wins may not come this year, but damn I’m impressed with Coach Judge.

Leave that to guys not on the NYG payroll.
I really look forward to seeing this every single week. Good job Coach!

Everyone in the facility is tested daily.

Yeah I guess, plus it would have taken too long. The video would be about 48 hrs long
About that...
