Maybe it was discussed and I missed it, haven't been around much lately....but it's revolting:

Ugh.
Manfred also said the expanded, 16-team postseason is likely to remain beyond 2020, adding that “an overwhelming majority” of owners had already endorsed the concept before the pandemic.
“I think there’s a lot to commend it,” he said.

Disgusting
It blows my mind how much I actually miss Bud Selig. It's amazing what a terrible Commissioner Manfred is. 16 team post-season for a sport like baseball with a 162 game reguar season is just about the worst idea ever. Just purely based on financial interests. It would ruin the sport.
If the regular season is meant to be meaningless, then chop it down. Some team is going to win 105 games and then lose a stupid best of 3 series in the first round to some 85 win team, and it's going to be a joke.
then the glut of talented guys who are getting the axe this summer have a place to play, and there remains a reason to play 162 games.
Otherwise, this is only about money and as a fan, i'm really tired of the game being tinkered with in favor of the owners and at the expense of the players.
in each league is enough, meaning 6 teams in each league.
I am not a fan of 8 teams in each league, just a joke.
You know who is in favor of it among owners, small market teams with a chance to make playoffs...
And analytics have ruined baseball, nerds behind a desk have reinvented new ways to measure a player, so lets just go for homers, instead of rewarding unselfish players that can handle the bat, can't handle shit the way they are taught, the game is BORING.

It’s turning into the nba. The 3 point shot ruined the nba just like analytics has ruined baseball. Also, banning the shift would be a nice start.
Do you say that when DJ or Urshela slap the ball into the holes in the shift with a RISP? It is not bunting people around the field. It is finding gaps in the shift; not K'ing with people in scoring position. Productive outs...we all like bombs and we all like getting the ball in play.
the desire teams have to win being greater than their desire to entertain you is what's "ruining" baseball in your view.
what's interesting is that MLB juicing the balls and condoning steroids in the 90s to increase HRs was specifically to increase ratings. Now the "swing for the fences" approach is affecting enjoyment the other way.
I prefer watching baseball when there are more steals, triples, speed on the bases, and "live action" than I do to the current style of play.
But the way baseball is played, with the surplus of quality pitching arms that all seem to throw upper 90s, and an understanding on run values and what types of actions lead to the highest nubmer of runs scored, and the realization that a strikeout isn't so bad when it is actually analyzed, I'm not suprised that teams have valued guys who can put numbers on the scoreboard with one swing.
Teams have 27 outs and are trying to score as many runs as they can in that span over 162 games. Stringing together hits and "manufacturing runs" is less efficient and harder to do then, say, a walk and a home run.
Only needs to make it ~6 weeks.

Welcome back Judgey
:-)
And his inability to address the Stros.
What a failure he's been.

His track record to stay healthy is awful.
Only needs to make it ~6 weeks.
6 weeks?
More like: Can Judge keep it together for 6 days?
The odds of him and Stanton staying on the field for the rest of this truncated season are near zero.
