How will Jones perform vs Chicago?

Route 9 : 9/16/2020 7:35 pm
Let's get the pot boiling. I thought he played OK vs Pittsburgh, great defense. The huge drive I was impressed but it was cancelled out with the interception in the redzone, of course. That one is in the past.

Jones saw Chicago last year and I was just curious about what my friends at BBI thought about this upcoming matchup vs another good defense.

Daniel Jones is 3-10 as a starter thus far in his career.

is about the offensive line than it is about Jones. Jones will perform fine but can the Giants get the running game going? We don't have the weapons to just be a throwing team.

But not from me. I wanted them to draft him. I m thrilled with the results and what could be with this kid.

but it shouldn't cancel your opinion of everything that transpired up to that point. He showed steel balls and got caught trying to make a play. I bet Pitt doesn’t allow a drive like that the rest of the year.

Just based on what I saw on TV, I can't fault DJ on the interception. It was a well called play and Slayton had gotten behind the mass of Steelers on the goal line.
Given he had to throw across his body, a QB has to assume he is protected from what at that instant was his blind side. If his arm wasn't tipped that was a TD.

One play canceled out the previous 18; which is crazy but true. At the end of the day this is not just about DJ’s progression. In the words of Herm Edwards “you play to win the game”. We need a W this week.

He is not allowed to turn the ball over. EVER!

In fact, he's not allowed to even make a throw that simply results in an incompletion, because the decision is poor.

And if the final stat line doesn't resemble something out of Madden, he's just simply not the guy to be running this ship.

Interesting take in both posts. I've gone back and forth on whether he attempting to throw it away or whether it was a throw to Slayton. Would have been cool to see him hit Slayton in the back of the end zone.
He turns over the ball, plenty. Lol.

I think the game itself on the whole is going to be ugly (for both teams).

Prob the same sort of game as last year in Chicago.

I remember thinking that Denver was going to obliterate the Giants in 2017 and I went to that game. Eli did a nice job of reading the defense until the very last second and you couldn't tell if it was a run or pass and the Giants had some nice runs. Hope we can get into that sort of thing. Run. Run. Run.

like others mentioned, it comes down to the OL. they've had less than 20 practices together and the Bears DL has continuity. you know they're looking at the Steelers tape and going to do the exact same thing they did by shutting down Barkley.

Every team to some degree was thrown into a cold start, so I’m not taking much from week one.

I expect the Bears to have a good defense, and I’d expect them to attack the interior of the Giants line because that’s been their weakness and they have an inexperienced center.

Jones’s performance will be a reflection of how well they can run the ball and how well they can pass protect. The difference between a good and pretty good performance is a few plays. If he’s forced to do it through the air and he’s getting harassed, I expect just an average game.

Somebody will want him. Quite frankly I am so down on him right now I might take anything.

Sadly though, we actually need him as a target with no WRs drafted last spring and Tate injured. But this is on the Judge/coaches to get him involved and productive. Judge gave him plenty of compliments this summer, he wants more team speed and keeps quoting its their job to put guys in roles to make them successful.

So go do it.
I think it's pretty clear at this point
djm : 9/17/2020 5:34 pm : link
that Jones will go as as far as the team around him goes. We don't know how good Jones will be in the championship or clutch moments, but we have seen him drive the team down and score the winning TD in the limited number of chances he has had.

Jones really is the least of our worries. Yes we need to know more about Jones and winning big games and moments, but that's really putting the cart before the horse. We know the guy can play. HE's deadly accurate and gutty and smart. The team is another story. How does the OL play? How does Barkely and the running game fare? Critical drops? Hows the D looking next week? Those are the real questions. Jones isn't.
Jones will be fine and he will make plays
SGMen : 9/18/2020 2:25 pm : link
But will he be able to make enough plays?

Lets face it, we need to run the ball effectively for Jones to be at his best. Pittsburgh was a tough test and Chicago is only a notch below them so it will be interesting.
