but TB also hasn't had anything resembling a stinker yet. They have been very good and haven't allowed any soft goals like we have. So head says perhaps they just can't skate with a more talented TB team. Especially in their 4th series coming off a tough 7 gamer with Philly, with some guys banged up.
Heart says maybe the OT win can give them some momentum, they find their legs, and maybe they are due for TB to have a bit of a stinker. Varly is back on track too.
I just hope they get it to game 7. Will be interesting to see what lineup Trotz throws out there. Boychuk played well but I gotta think he's pretty beat up after his first game in months being that kind of marathon. Maybe MDC goes back in? They could use his forechecking. I doubt he does it but Dobson's skating and offensive abilities would add something.
If the Islanders can be as efficient clearing out of their own end
like Game 5, they can win tonight and force a game 7.
I think that OT win was a big energizer for this group! When Varlamov took the belly flop slide into the celebration, it brought this team further together than they had been. I think that energy will come out tonight.
They need to play within themselves, clear the puck effectively, limit man down situations and try to be more efficient on the power play when given an opportunity.
The Flyers forced the Islanders to a game 7 and we can do the same with Tampa. But it will take the whole team.
I am excited about tonight and the future! Go Islanders!!
This has been a fun series to watch, and I think Tampa closes the door tonight, especially if Point plays. They are the far better team, and while the Islanders have had a pretty good showing (game 1 notwithstanding) they're pretty fortunate to have made it to this point. Coming into this series, I said to my Isles fan friends that Varlamov was going to have to steal at least 2 games. He stole game 5, I think he'll have to steal this one too. I think Tampa wins fairly convincingly tonight, 4-2/5-2 kind of game. None of this is a knock on the Islanders. I actually picked them to win the Cup before the season started. I just think Tampa is a machine and they've proven to this point that they're the best team in hockey. Whoever wins this series is going to be a heavy favorite over Dallas.
the isles have desperately needed the stretch pass and more guys who can skate, and those are 2 things he can really well.
am not excited about the Pelech loss but I think he was banged up last game because they commented at one point that he missed some shifts. Greene and Boychuk will hopefully be able to combine to fill those defensive zone minutes (especially on the PK).
still haven't seen a replay of the fucking goal. The only thing they showed was in the goal cam of the puck hitting the one post and deflecting across into the net
Tampa was the better team but isles put enough out there to give themselves a shot at the series. I think we could’ve taken Dallas too. This won’t be the last people hear from the Isles. Looking forward to next year.
Part of me thinks a Coliseum crowd tonight would’ve been enough to push us through.
they hung in there and at times got the better of play but they looked out of gas this entire series.
Glad to see Dobson play well in his first playoff game. He and Sorokin are the 2 guys with a lot riding on them to get this team to another level. A couple times Dobson started scoring chances but they just couldn't get close to the net in the offensive zone. Tampa's D was suffocating. Hedman is just insane.
this group gave us a really awesome couple months we weren't expecting. The loss was disappointing but somewhat expected once they went down 3-1 and it felt like a sure loss starting each OT on a double minor. But more disappointing is that this is may be the end of the line for a few guys who have been here for a while, saw the depths of the Wang/Snow years, and were really close to going out on a very high note.

Need another big game from Varly. Expect Barzal to play 25+ minutes. Maybe eberle goes on a streak after scoring the game 5 winner.
Fuck
What about the stars aligning and a fanned shot?

This looks like it'll be a nail-biting 3rd
You've got to be kidding me.

This a helluva a 3rd period. So close so many times for each team..

What am I "kidding" about.
Right there with ya
You're such a cuck, Lil' Greg.
Oh please, NY needs some sports excitement and this Islanders team is a gritty one that has been fun to watch
Barzal stick handles too much on PPG
