When I consider the year 5781 and the previous 5780 now (almost) behind it, I am amazed at the longevity of our belief system and the core values that enlighten it.
Why have we survived? I have one answer (aside from the hotly debated topic that there is, or is not, a monotheistic G_d) only. That we are still here to teach our core values of respect and decency to our fellow human beings. Not to forget, the love of learning itself.
My mother is 95. She is an amazing woman. She lives alone and cares for herself. Her mind is fine. She face times her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She said that this is the first high holiday that she has spent alone. We attended services on line last night and will tune in again in a few minutes. We will have shofar blowing in the parking lot of the temple this afternoon.

2020 was SHIT to me .....
