Giants’ WR Golden Tate, listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, is on track to play Sunday against the Bears, per source.
Does a 90% healthy...
Kev in Cali : 9/20/2020 12:28 am : link
Golden Tate help our offense in some way tomorrow?
A 100% healthy
KWALL2 : 9/20/2020 12:51 am : link
Tate doesn’t help.
Tate is pretty good
santacruzom : 9/20/2020 1:17 am : link
at making contested catches. My guess is we'll need that as Quinn and/or making pass right through Engram and Fleming.

Yea yac and reliability plus his excellent blocking doesn’t help. I’ve heard it all on bbi.
Considering that the baseline is C.J. Board and Damion Ratley...
Big Blue Blogger : 9/20/2020 5:45 am : link
... a mostly-healthy Tate is a big upgrade.

If he weren’t able to run full-speed, I doubt he’d get a shirt. The concern with a hamstring is re-injury. But the team is 0-1 and needs this game desperately. No point saving Tate. He’s already had one year where the Giants’ season was down the tubes before he was able to contribute.

is very good after the catch.

You lose credibility with that post....
So, if Tate plays today,
Dave in Hoboken : 9/20/2020 7:18 am : link
this will be the first time in Jones' career where he's actually gonna get to play with ALL of his starting offensive weapons in a game. Only took almost a full season into his career (I believe today's game will be Jones' 15th start of his career).

If only Tate was as good as Coleman...then we'd really have an impact player!

Who was missing during the redskins game last year
Jesus now Golden Tate isn't a good player
Zeke's Alibi : 9/20/2020 8:26 am : link
He adds a reliable 2nd chain mover in the passing game because our tight end is so unreliable. Daniel Jones has been killing on 3rd and long because of guys like Shep and Tate who make tough contested catches in the intermediate. If our run blocking is as pitiful as last week, we certainly do need him, especially against that shaky Bears secondary. Oh yeh he'll help our our run game too!

This doesn't get mentioned enough. Not sure, but I heard that last week was supposed to be the first time until Tate was a late scratch.

What are you talking about? Almost 14 ypc last year, is a good blocking WR and gives Jones a 3rd reliable option in the passing game.
The Tate hate on BBI is Ridiculous
ZogZerg : 9/20/2020 9:25 am : link
Of course this is good for the offense.
You guys are clueless!
Why..
FatMan in Charlotte : 9/20/2020 10:08 am : link
do people act like Tate is a poor player??

You see this same terrible take week in and out.

By some posters who should know better.

It is really bizarre.

Tate will probably never redeem himself for the suspension last year. The Giants may have known the suspension was coming when they signed him, but the fans didn’t.
When Slayton, Tate and Shepard are healthy on offense
SGMen : 9/20/2020 10:18 am : link
our 3 WR sets are exponentially better cause all three guys are "above average" for their positions and roles.

However, I do believe we will use a lot of two TE sets and FB today, trying to get Saquon untracked.

I despise Tate and the type of receiver he is, but it’s clear as day he’s the Giants second best WR and the Giants need another reliable downfield option.

If he's not an athletic freak that was made in a lab that wasn't exposed to football till he was a sophomore in college KWALL doesn't respect you as a football player. You've been here a long time, I'm sure you are aware of that. Or went to Rutgers.

The worst is people acting like Tate getting hurt is something that happens all the time. Can't be anything to do with a record number of soft tissue injuries.

Out of curiosity, why do you “despise” Tate?

Well there's a ton of stuff there if you know anything about the guy. Plus the way he showboats rubs some people the wrong way. Honestly, I love the dude. Give me guys like him when push comes to shove.
I Think the Tate Hate...
Jim in Tampa : 9/20/2020 10:41 am : link
Comes from the "look-at-me, Diva-style" way he plays sometimes...like when he backpedals into the end zone on a TD.

It doesn't bother me that much, but it appears to annoy others.
Does a little bit too much show-boating for his talent
LBH15 : 9/20/2020 10:57 am : link
but who cares. Thought he made a decent amount of plays last year including yards after the catch.

Obviously really only an average WR at this stage of his career, but at least he gives a decent effort on the field.

Giants clearly need to add to the WR corps next offseason.
