Fought their asses off.

Would’ve been nice to get that one.

Get Judge on the board and get DJ another game-winning drive. Fuck.
Horrible officiating on the last play
glowrider : 9/20/2020 4:05 pm : link
Team is on the right track. Keep the faith.
I like the fight we showed, but we're 0-2...again
Anakim : 9/20/2020 4:05 pm : link
We just don't have the talent. And now, we're going to be without Saquon for the rest of the year. Shep we'll have to see.

I'm encouraged and discouraged. I like how we're playing hard and playing for Coach Judge, but this looks like another clunker of a season. I didn't have high expectations going in per se, but it really, really sucks that we're looking at another season where we won't sniff the playoffs...and if we do, it's because the NFC East is awful.
They fought back
Lines of Scrimmage : 9/20/2020 4:05 pm : link
OL seemed to make progress as the game went on.

Two big weaknesses the team has. No pass rush and not enough threats at the WR spot. With a good run blocking OL they could manage but they are not at that point yet.
They were in it to the last play
US1 Giants : 9/20/2020 4:06 pm : link
that is something.

Of all the games in the early schedule this looked like the winnable game. The 49ers are next so the Giants are likely looking at 0-3.

Not a good indictment of DG
This is not a moral victory
Bramton1 : 9/20/2020 4:06 pm : link
The team played like crap for the first 30 minutes, and didn't have enough to come back in the second half.

Should have got for it on fourth and goal midway through the fourth quarter. A field goal didn't improve anything. Only thing it did was give the Giants a chance if Bears made the field goal. But they didn't. So the Gano FG was pointless.
They fought. That’s encouraging.
The_Boss : 9/20/2020 4:06 pm : link
But as the losses mount, and they will, and the team’s best player gone for the year, these guys will be demoralized by Columbus Day. If not sooner...
Same thing

I saw holding and def pass interferance
Twtunes : 9/20/2020 4:06 pm : link
on the last play, crappy way to end a very competitive game
The OL improved by leaps and bounds as the game went
PatersonPlank : 9/20/2020 4:06 pm : link
That was a good Bears D. Offense showed great character.

Defense was good and hung in there. Only 14 pts given up, only 7 after the 1st drive.

Always a tough game, but you have to love how it finished. The team is getting better.
I get it
madeinstars : 9/20/2020 4:07 pm : link
It's nice to see the team play hard for a coach. But Gettleman once again failed to field a team that has the talent to win NFL games. Will the team still fight when they are 0-5?

Except the 49ers got killed with injuries today.
Defense shut them out in the second half.
RDJR : 9/20/2020 4:07 pm : link
That’s the biggest positive IMO. Our offense, now with SB and SS down, is not good.
Still a play away
lax counsel : 9/20/2020 4:07 pm : link
From being a play away. Fought hard but still 0-2. Nice drive at the end. Barkley injury sucks but can’t be surprised, running backs get hurt much more than any other position. Everyone warned about this risk when picking at #2.

Statistically, we're the worst team (worst W-L record) in the NFL since when? 2015? 2016? Enough is enough.

Exactly. Every team fights hard to not be 0-2. Now we'll see especially without SB
I’m so sick of losing
BlueManCrew : 9/20/2020 4:09 pm : link
Had a chance to win a game, to show the fan base that they could get it done against an average Bears team. Failed. Now Barkley’s gone for the year, wins aren’t on the horizon and I’m tired of it. 2011 seems like a lifetime ago and it almost was.

0-2.

So is Dallas and Philadelphia.
The TO gave them 3 points, cost us 3 points. Made this a TD game.
nym172 : 9/20/2020 4:09 pm : link
Also that 3rd down before the half gave them 4 extra points. But Jones just couldn't make the play at the end. Drops didn't help, Slayton was shut down by fuller and had a key drop.

But TOs...those again were the difference, we always always come back to these with DJ, these cant continue. If we are in position to draft Lawrence we should, I cant take a QB who turns the ball over 2-3x a game.

Without Shep/Barkley, way tougher to come back......

Makes not activating Gallman even worse.

They have to let Engram switch to WR and go with Kaden at TE. They need to open this offense up and go with Gallman.
Another loss.

We've been down this road many times where the division stinks but those less shitty teams set things straight against the Giants.
I'll give this to Judge
AcesUp : 9/20/2020 4:11 pm : link
Two weeks in and his team doesn't quit. After that awful start and Barkley getting carried off, it would have been easy to pack it in.

That said...we're in for another really long season.
Ugh another tough loss
Jim in Forest Hills : 9/20/2020 4:12 pm : link
They are tough to watch.
Pain
Oscar : 9/20/2020 4:13 pm : link
0-2 on the way to 0 and a lot I think, unfortunately. I don’t know why I have any expectations with this team. They draft in the top 5 or so every year for a reason. We are in the traditional Browns, Bengals, Cardinals, Jets tier.

Count up your moral victories if you want but 0-2 is 0-2. Scored 13 lousy points, haven’t broken 30 total in two weeks combined. Good teams score 30 weekly as a matter of course.
Wow lots of unrealistic around here today.
Johnny5 : 9/20/2020 4:13 pm : link
Honestly I think people are insane with what they are expecting out of this team with a new staff a new set of schemes and a ton of new faces. Especially on the OL. And with basically NO PRESEASON.

If you are thinking we are going to go out looking sharp and crisp under those circumstances, against established teams.... guess what? This team was in the game against another top ten defense (YES the Bears were a top 10 defense last year and basically returned EVERYONE) with a chance to win up to the last play of the game.
I’m trying to be positive and patient for first month.
Fritz : 9/20/2020 4:13 pm : link
But it’s not easy and if they go 5 or 6 weeks without a win it becomes hard to find positives. Jones had his ups and downs but at some point he has to stop turning it over so much or he’s never going to be a winning player.

You can make progress without winning games
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 9/20/2020 4:14 pm : link
Obviously we all want the to win, but they are making progress IMHO. It is about getting better. We still have a ways to go.
Sick of moral victories.
redwhiteandbigblue : 9/20/2020 4:15 pm : link
A loss is a loss.So many issues beyond personnel here. Schemes outright sucked. I see no growth so far from DJ.I have been a big supporter but he either locks onto his #1 or tries to thread the needle into tight spaces which gets him in trouble. On the defensive side, what happened to the pass rush that seemingly put good pressure last week on Big Ben. They should have blitzed the shit out of Trubisky. And don't get me started on the ridiculous play with 8 seconds for 4 yards instead of taking a shot into the end zone. No moral victories today.
