I assume it will be a veteran FA. I'm sure there isn't much, but who do you think are the leading candidates? Or is there someone on a PS you'd like the Giants to sign?
What's wrong with that? After all that's what all the "you don't draft a RB in the 1st round" crowd wanted anyways. You don't need a high draft pick at RB right???
Hasn't been effective for 3 years and he wants more $ than any team has offered him thus far, no thank you. I want young, fast and hungry, go find the next Raheem Mostert or someone with blinding speed to threated the edges. Lewis and Gallman can fill in fine for now.

whenever Freeman has been healthy he has been effective. He is faster than any competent back presently available, if you want fast.
I'd still like to know the story behind Wayne Gallman
With the high attrition rate for running backs, and lots of space on the expanded squads, I figured more teams would have a Rod Smith type. Anyway, here are some names:
Elijah McGuire (meh)
C.J. Prosise (always hurt)
Kenjon Barner (small)
Wendell Smallwood (small)
Theo Riddick (small and always hurt)
He’ll get you 2 or 3 yards on average, but he’s not game changer and he’s not going to force Defenses bringing an extra body into the box. It’s going to get harder for DJ to pass now too.
It’s a shame that DG did not really load up on RB depth. Lewis is too small to take on a full load week to week. Gallman may be it right now?!

I'll add some guys to this list and to the other guys people mentioned:
Josh Adams
Kenneth Dixon
Jonathan Williams
Alex Collins
D'Onta Foreman
Rodney Anderson
Jeremy Hill
Jordan Scarlett
Brian Herrien
Zach Zenner
Trey Edmunds

Jonathan Williams might be the best option. He averaged 4.8 YPC last year. I'm not sure if he's on the Lions roster or on their practice squad.
Rodney Anderson is REALLY talented, but he's coming off back-to-back ACL tears on the same knee.
Josh Adams is underwhelming.
Dixon is coming off a fractured knee.
Foreman is interesting. Supposedly he's in amazing shape. He missed the entire 2019 season with torn biceps.
Prosise, as BBB said, has durability issues. He also has fumbling issues (at least he did at Notre Dame)
Reggie Bonnafon is another interesting name. He averaged 7.3 YPC as the backup to CMC last year (albeit on 13 carries).
I'd be most interested in Bonnafon, Williams, Prosise and Foreman
I think he was left unprotected in Week Two. He might be better than what we have, but he's neither a special player nor a quick fix, coming from another team (his fifth in five years, BTW).
The likely stopgap measure is to promote Rod Smith. He was with Garrett for nearly four years in Dallas. He knows the offense, he's in football shape, and he can earn a shirt on gameday by contributing on specials if Gallman is the primary back.
Another possible Cowboys retread is Darius Jackson. Dallas drafted him in 2016, lost him to the Browns in a December waiver maneuver, then brought him back twice in 2018. So Garrett saw something he liked. He's currently on the Colts' practice squad. It's his third stint there; he's as well-traveled as Williams, who got the nod over Jackson when Marlon Mack was hurt last year.
Did Leake get picked up by another team?

Why would you make your 3rd RB inactive? I could see not playing him but putting your self in a position that Lewis has no one to spell him?

He signed with Detroit as soon as Washington released him.
Fmic’s choice for certain.

Remember the COVID protocols. Anyone signed probably won’t be able to practice.
A lot of the veteran names being thrown around probably decided to turn down practice squad offers.
