Is turnovers. He has all the strengths necessary to be a top 10 qb. The turnovers are a major issue and cost the giants games. His pocket presence has improved, which is good. I’d like to see him tear into a good defense though, which we haven’t seen. I think his ceiling is Matt Ryan with mobility, never top 5, but in the 5-10 range. You can win multiple super bowls with those guys. Right now though, we’re seeing Kirk Cousins and not Matt Ryan.
Shaky offensive line... hardly any running game.. not a great WR group. Most are slot WRs with no speed. Slayton only guy that can run. We need more speed and better line play to take the next step on offense.
Other than that, have to be impressed he was able to move the offense with zero threat of the run..
It’s still early, but I sure hope we aren’t still saying this about him by the 2nd half of the season. The fact that we came into this season saying his biggest challenge is overcoming TOs seeing 4 TOs in two games is not encouraging.
A banged up 49ers team coming to Metlife without their starting QB and possibly two impact Dlinemen is an opportunity to get a W.
This is based on so many years of inept football. Too many are satisfied with signs of improvement. I just don't want to be 0-6 or 1-5 yet again....I like Jones and think he could be an above average QB, but we sure have surrounded him with mediocrity across the board
16 & 13 points to start the season is not close to enough.
Not coming away with TD’s in crucial game situations to often. It’s a legitimate concern imo.
Daniel Jones is tie for 12th for passing touchdowns in a QB's first 14 starts since 1950. He is fourth among starting quarterbacks for their first 14 starts. Last season he was 11th in the league in passing touchdown percentage. Jones scoring points is not a problem.
I don’t see it. He’s mediocre and very turnover prone. And no where near Eli because that argument seems to come up.
He looks better 14 games into his career than Eli did 3.5 seasons into his career. He's not as good as Eli in the 2 playoffs, but neither was Eli this early on into his career. Also Eli threw more red zone TDs and fumbled a bunch himself.
You mean like Eli right? QBs fumble on blind side hits all the time. Remember Brady in SB 42 when Osi got him. The INT was because Engram slipped and fell. DJ isn’t the problem. There is a lot of development that needs to happen on both sides of the ball.
I’m more concerned with the fact the defense still can’t stop the run.
No one should love him just yet. Love means you know for certain he’s the answer here. We don’t know that no matter how pretty the ball looks when Jones throws it.
If you’re hanging 26-30 pts a week you can live with the turnovers. That’s why eli held a well earned starting job for 100 years. Hang 17 pts a game with 1-2 turnovers? You’re not going to hold the job for very long.
It’s amazing the scrutiny Eli endured here in 2005-2006-2007. Yet he won and scored points. Jones does neither and he’s fine. I like him, he should be getting some slack right now but it’s weird how fans and media treat players.
forget what Eli looked like early on. I wish he looked this good. I was AT the game vs the Ravens where he had a 0.0 QB Rating.
Jones has, what, 1 year starting experience, and is in week 2 of a new system. He's had exactly 0 run game. He's had exactly 0 full games with all of his (cough) weapons (cough).
He shook off some adversity early and pulled the team down to position to win vs. a good D.
What do I like? He's tough. He's poised as the game comes down and overcoming bad start for the team, he's not panicking. He's reasonably athletic. He is pretty accurate. He's having to fit the ball in to some tight friggin' windows with pressure because we get no separation. He's not doing the young QB tuck 'n go, he's hanging in to distribute the ball.
Improvement I saw tonight - he threw a ball into the dirt and threw one away when it wasn't there. That's a sign he's learning when to give up on the play if it's not there and live to fight next down.
Things he has to still do better? Speed up the clock in his head and less the pumping the ball, secure it better in the pocket.
The EE pick to me was normal course of action, not some egregious error. EE slipped a bit, tight window throw, guy made a play. If you can show me it was a terrible read, and Ratley was springing about like a young gazelle on the other side wide open, I'll change that opinion and say bad read. Otherwise, I'm not too exercised about it.
No guarantees. Development has to continue. He's going to face a year of adversity as having no Barkley means we don't really have a home run hitter. It's going to be on him to manufacture offense with limited weapons and run game, behind an OLine just trying to find itself in the early going of that process.
Other young QB's in the league are outplaying him on similar skilled teams with flaws.
He just isn't much better than average QB right now. Shows promise at times. Then major flaws.
He will probably always be more like a Tyrod Taylor or Fitzpatrick level than a Mahomes or Brady level.
You're hoping for Mahomes or Brady? I mean, that's your comparison? GTFO!!!!
COMPARING anyone to THE GOAT, and the current Wizard of War (the WOW) is simply ridiculous. Let's say Matt Ryan or Josh Allen are more realistic comparisons?
Jones stunk today and has been unimpressive this season. 6 yards an attempt, 13 points and two TO's today= yawn. Herbert got thrown into a game against the world champs and looked like a better player. The shrimp Murray has been a much better player this year. Jones was the second qb and the 6th player taken in the entire draft; time for him to step up and play like it. We didn't need to spend the 6th pick to get a guy that would throw 5 yard passes.
You saw the last two weeks; no defense gives a shit about Daniel Jones. They stopped Barkley and let Jones complete all the 5 yard passes he likes. The result has been 29 points in two games. Barkley's not here now. Time for the 6th pick to step up.

Just a completely absurd silly take on today's game especially given he lost his two best weapons and still brought us back to be in place to win the game,.

Lawrence may very well end up in NY with the jests as they could not beat a 49ers team with everyone including their quarterback injured.

You're wrong. The fumble was bad. The INT wasn't his fault. Jones might've won us the game had he had time for one more play.
