I doubt we get the #1 pick but many here seem to be at least entertaining that thought. But am I crazy if I prefer Sewell + what we get in a trade back + Jones is better than Lawrence + what we get for Jones. I have to assume the #1 pick is going to get us more than Jones. I would then move Thomas to RT.
Which is quite conceivable, say good bye to Daniel Jones and say hello to Trevor Lawrence.
it's certainly a fair question. some rather pedestrian QBs have won Super Bowls. But in the last 20 years I would only count Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco and Nick Foles as pedestrian. That's 20%. The other 80% or all active (except the Mannings) and are likely future HoFers.

But rather supposedly a generational LT and Jones is better than Lawrence. And we'd get more in a trade back than we would trading Jones.

just to elaborate, I mean pedestrian QBs have won because the rest of the team was very strong, which is the proposal on the table.
Jones has talent, but he is far from a sure fire franchise QB.
They played Citadel, give me a break
In reality, Giants probably don't end up with the first overall pick...right?
Lawrence is a once in two decades prospect at QB. You don't even think of doing anything besides taking him if you have the 1st pick. Passing on him for any reason would be a fireable offense

The Williams trade should have been a fireable offence. I think you'll be surprised what DG can survive...because when/if he stays...he's not drafting Lawrence. He tagged an average player to save his ass...no way he's embarrassing himself drafting 2 top 10 QBs.
Sadly, I completely agree with this. Even more sad...DG probably won't be able to figure out how to trade down. He'll use the #1 pick on "his guy."
So it's an assinine suggestion. When trading back you have a few players in mind as the likely target.
I probably don't see Gettleman as GM next season, but if he is then he will finally agree to a trade down for extra picks.
Why? Mostly because everything else he has tried has failed so this must be correct.
That said, this team is better than a number of teams, including the one that plays in the same stadium.
I think we can be a good team under Jones but we need a lot of other pieces to fall in place as well - more wiggle room and room for error with a top tier QB.
Have you seen the Jets play this year?
They WILL have to make this decision. Darnold vs Lawrence
Good luck with all that.
From their off season behaviour, I really thought the Jaguars were setting themselves up to tank, but now I'm not so sure and maybe the Panthers are doing that.
Either way, I doubt we'll be picking first next year and I'm pretty certain that whoever has the #1 pick will choose Lawrence and not trade down.
Oh, and Adam Gase is almost certainly toast.
Look at our schedule and then try to find 5 teams in the league that are worse than us.

we are not picking in the top 5, much less #1.

We are going to win games which you would not expect. And, I would not be surprised if most of our wins are inter-divisional. I think we only lose 2 after the bye and people are talking about us as a easy playoff participant in 2021. I think that this team grows big time.
Just looking at their schedule:
Jeff Driskel and the Broncos in two weeks
They play Miami back to back
I can see them beating the Browns, Chargers and Raiders too
The AFC is horrible
I don't see 3 wins on the Giants schedule and I'm an eternal optimist

So Jones isn't a top tier QB?
A lot of posters on this board spent the summer complaining as to why the rest of the football world gives Murray so much love versus DJ after their rookie years.
