CJ Board

Tuckrule : 9/21/2020 8:50 am
Lost in all the crap of injuries and poor offensive coaching was the play of board. He didn’t do anything spectacular but he looked very fast and quick and he’s a young guy only 26. We may have found something to work with here. Anyone else get that feeling?
Oh yes
HomerJones45 : 9/21/2020 9:06 am : link
no doubt the 32 teams that left him undrafted for 6 rounds in 2017, and the Ravens, Titans, Browns and Jaguars missed this diamond in the rough.

He is now up to 7 catches in his burgeoning NFL career for a monumental 80 yards. He looks forward no doubt to breaking the magical 100 yard career barrier.

The mere fact that we are playing this bum says volumes about the talent level on this team. This is getting to be more and more like the 70's all the time.
Nah

Scrubs getting chances
NoPeanutz : 9/21/2020 9:21 am : link
is a hallmark of thin teams. Good teams are healthy and deep, with talent and experience all over the place- and scrubs don't get to sniff the field.
In 2007
Burress
Toomer
Steve Smith
Tyree...

In 2011
Nicks
Hixon
Cruz
Manningham...

Can Board be a significant contributor of the offense going forward? Maybe. But the odds are that there are a lot of scrubs who could be inserted there when the Giants are behind who would not attract (or warrant) any attention from defenses- and would therefore find themselves open fo opportunities in the passing game.
So I think it's just bias.

I saw the same thing. A burst, which I havent seen from a WR here since OBJ. However, I'm not sure what Judge thinks since Ratley got more snaps. That could just be a product of Ratley knowing Sheps position better. I'm with you, I'd like to see more of Board.
1 can hope
SLIM_ : 9/21/2020 9:27 am : link
Smaller school player who has gotten many 'chances' due to his athleticism. Chances are in quotes as he has shown enough to make team's practice squads but UFA's often take a back seat to draft picks.

He will get some time along with Ratley. The hope being that 1 of them could become an outside receiver and push Sheppard/Tate off of next year's roster. Their is a lot of cash ($15M) tied up in 2021 salaries for those guys. I like them both but they both are best in the slot. Tate may be older but I prefer him (tougher and stays healthier).
It seemed especially odd

this year when we cut some recently drafted guys and FAs who had been discussed/anticipated. And then picked up guys I have NEVER heard of and, to boot, made them STARTERS. Who the hell are CJ Board, Adrian Colbert, that Ratley (Rantley?) guy, etc.?? Says a lot that you can pick up no-name castoffs, have 'em in your building for a week, and then start 'em.

It isn't unusual for a guy like that to take awhile to develop.

You would have enjoyed the late 60's and 70's.

Hes fast and at 6 2 he’s got good size. I don’t care if he’s undrafted or bounced around the league like homer has said. That’s all irrelevant. He’s going to get a chance now because it seems shep is due to miss a few weeks with his toe injury. In the little I’ve seen of him he looks to be our second most explosive WR Behind slayton.

Just the latest in the long line of Cory Coleman, Cody Lattimore, Bennie Fowler, and many more to finally put it all together and break out with the Giants.

Hope for the best of course, but he was brought here for ST after Core went on IR. It's just that with Shepard's injury, he's been forced into receiving duties.

Dude stfu the kid look decent. You probably said similar about slayton too
They wanted him and Ratley over Coleman
BillT : 9/21/2020 10:03 am : link
That still confuses me but I don’t think anyone has picked up Coleman so maybe they were right about that. Doesn’t mean those guys will succeed though.
Am I being critical...
BillKo : 9/21/2020 11:01 am : link
...that not getting that first down near the end of the game was HUGE.

That's the difference between being a winning team and where we are, treading water..........
