Anyone else watch the Chargers- Chiefs? Pretty impressive performance from Herbert yesterday. He only found out he was getting the start a few minutes before the game when Tyrod Taylor was ruled out with chest pain. Therefore, he didn't get meaninful snaps prepearing for the World champs, yet the moment wasn't too big for him.
300 + yards passing, one rushing TD, one TD pass. Kis showed alot.
He's going to have to learn not to expose himself like that.
He played pretty well and the Charges have to be excited about his future. Quietly they have some nice young talent- Reed at WR, Kelley at RB and Herbert at QB.
As did I. But since he was picked, I'm all in on DJ
I think there was a rumor that the Giants liked him more than Jones. DG went to see him IIRC. But he didn't come out last year because he wanted to play with his brother.
Thanks for chiming in, loser.

Yeah he's not going to last long in the league if he plays like he did yesterday. I think he's getting adjusted to NFL speed, wouldn't worry about it if I was a Chargers fan
Like you, I wanted him as the Giants QB in the '19 draft. Fell in love with his arm and athleticism. He decided not to come out, and the Giants went ahead with Jones.
I'm good with the decision, if for no other reason than there are some personalities that fit and work in NY (Eli, Simms...and I believe Jones), and from what I've read, Herbert is an incredibly good guy, bright, and well rounded, but is an introvert by nature. I don't know how that would work around New York.
W/O better O-Line - Giants weren't going anywhere. We finally appear to have gotten 1st round value with our pick.
Jones will be fine - Shrumur and Garrett both build off the run. Won't know how good Jones can be until Giants have a respectable run game. Not great - just competent NFL quality.
On a side note, Shurmur seems to be doing pretty well as an OC with Denver. Up ain't always better.
Damn it! He does seem like a good kid, but now that you've backed him he most certainly will turn to shit...
You can never truly predict these things.
All that with no running game(sound familiar?) and constantly under pressure (sound familiar?).

That hook and ladder was there for the TD. And would have been the play of the year to date.
Herbert is a big strong athlete still learning to play QB. I could see him advancing in a similar fashion to Josh Allen.

I like Herbert, but to say he had an amazing game today was asinine. I caught bits and pieces of it, but a stat line you just named with 1 td to 1 pick is about as mediocre as it gets. Less than 7 yards an attempt? I saw the pick he threw and it was bad.

35-49, 330 yards and a dropped lateral away from leading a 99 yard drive with a minute and a half left with no timeouts to win the game.

Threw 1 pick, BFD. You need to watch the WHOLE GAME. Then get back to me.

Their 2 running backs ran 20 times for 102 yards and a TD. The Chargers scored 7 more points than the Giants today. Calm down.
The best thing for Herbert may have been getting out of Eugene and away from Mario Cristobal.
Ekelar's out today and Herbert is 11-14, 148 yards and 2 TD's at the HALF. Amazing so far.
Yup...agree 100%. Why my answer to the "which QB should the Giants select" question in 2019 was "none of the above, get another year out of Eli and wait for the 2020 class". This is not to say that ive given up on Jones, but really liked the qb prospects from the most recent class (which at the time didnt include Burrow) more than the Jones/Haskins group.

per attempt didn't have an amazing game regardless of the shit situation. And by all accounts the running game was pretty good.

Yeh he’s playing well today. I’m actually local watching this game. Not sure what that has to do with last week?

Had Giants been patient, he could be starting for them now.

Josh Allen rushing the passer and Herbert at QB
You would figure a QB with a deficit in the intellectual part of the game would take more time to develop.
