I have seen this take on here from multiple people that there is a silver lining in that Barkley will take 1 year less of hits. The tread on his tires will will be 1 year fresher.
An ACL tear is the exact kind tread destroying hit people talk about regarding RBs. This argument makes no sense. It's like saying "Good thing I totaled my car. Now I don't have to worry about it getting dinged up."
I completely agree, that's the point of my post. Maybe I worded it oddly, but I've just seen too many people argue that we are saving him from hits with the ACL tear, which makes no sense, because this is the exact kind of hit you want him to avoid.
Re-upping Saquon before he plays next season would be a huge mistake. Will he hold out? demand a trade?
everything is on the table for a rebuilding and terrible team and that is what the Giants are.
It's really hard to spin any positive out of this. This is terrible for the Giants there is no debating that.
For example, we signed Cruz to a big contract then he got hurt and wasn't the same. But we were still on the hook to pay him, I know we restructured him but we still had dead money to deal with. At least we can avoid that if Barkley isn't the same. Sucks

Don't they have to decide on his 5th year option this offseason?
The reality is, if the OL doesn't do its job, it will hardly matter if Barkley returns to top form or not. A quality OL that can block effectively and consistently can make an average back productive.
