I'm seeing a much lighter hand by officials this season.

Watching games this season, including non-Giants ones where I can be objective, I'm seeing a lot of non-calls in situations where flags could have been thrown. The refs seems to have received some directive to "let'emplay."

Do you agree with my assessment?

If yes, is this lighter touch a good thing? Do you like it?
Yeah and

we still got screwed on the last drive, Boards catch was a first down. Why was that not measured or challenged from upstairs?
I do,

I thought yesterday’s giants games was well officiated and only clear cut flags were thrown, except the last play of the game which didn’t matter
I agree

Collinsworth quoted a stat last night that there were only 13 offensive holding calls last week and 2 or 3 of them were against a rookie G on the Seahawks. That's a penalty that seems like it's called once a game or so on every team, so that struck me as an incredibly low number. Through 2 games I don't think we've had it called once against us despite playing 2 very disruptive defensive fronts (which tend to draw penalties more frequently).

For the most part I think this has been a positive.
The biggest non-call for me was a pretty blatant hold on Kyler Fackrel

in the 4th quarter, which allowed a big rush to his side. The OL had his jersey in his mitts in the open field - no call.

But you know what, I like it. Penalties were dragging down the pace of the game the last few years and the constant defensive holding and pass interference calls were... whatever the opposite of entertainment is.

That was an awful missed call. That's a penalty 99/100 times.
