Need some 2x4 x 8ft studs to do a project I'm working on. Expected to see them for the usual 2.99 per board at Lowes. 7.99 per piece now. WTF? Is it due to the fires in the NW? ANyone have any suggestions where to get some cheap 2x4s?
Anything involving home improvement is stretched thin.
I work for a supplier that sells to the Home Centers (Lowes, Depot, Menards) in a pretty big category, and we've been operating with a supply chain that's been operating +75% over prior year demand since May. All unforecasted.
It's been a screwed up year to say the least.
Home building surged the last few years, crashed in April-May timeframe, shot up again in the summer. Mills slowed or stopped in initial Covid phase and haven't caught back up with the recent surge. They didn't expect this fast a recovery in home building. Low interest rates are exacerbating the situation and driving the demand.
Has increased tremendously. My brother is replacing cedar siding on his home and price Is stupid expensive. Food too. Time to rip off the average citizen.l I just bought some treated 4X4x8. Over $20 a piece. Salaries going up that fast?

Whoa - WTF?
Same prices here in MA - if you can even get it.
And not just home improvement projects, but construction in my area is out of control.
