One aspect not discussed (or maybe it has been I am not sure) is the arthritis that may develop in Barkley's knee post surgery. Could he come back like Adrian Peterson in 2012? Sure it's possible. Barkley is a freak athlete. But the real concern is what if Barkley begins to suffer some arthritis condition. Look at Todd Gurley and his surgery was from college..
We may not be offering that second contract at this point due to this injury..
Additionally, what does this mean for Gettleman if we bottom out once again? Do we draft Trevor Lawrence? I was hoping we would draft Chase pre-injury but now we have a real shot at pick 1.. We could also get the most lucrative haul of draft picks/players in possible history if we are confident in Daniel Jones. Do we trust Gettleman to be the GM to make this deal?
I asked the first doctor about whether I should have the meniscus tear debrided. He said I'd get less arthritis in the joint than if I left it alone. I think once you go down this road, arthritis is inevitable — eventually.
I have had bad arthritis in that knee since my late 30s. I had X-rays at UCLA when I moved to LA in and the doctors said "Your knees should look like this at your age." They thought I would need knee replacement in my 50s, but didn't. I'm 61 and it's getting to that point, though.
One of the things that my doctors told me is that simply having an arthroscopic procedure damages the joint, separately from the nature of the repair. Flushing the joint with saline "drowns" the cells, they said, and the living cells in the joint can only bounce back from that so many times. So they discourage having a lot of arthroscopies. I know there are linemen who have many arthroscopies; maybe the doctors were wrong, I dunno.
Even with Cam?
and then what if Lawrence busts?
Id rather trade the 1st pick for crazy package..

When a team such as the Giants are able the land the best QB prospect in 25 years ( Peyton/ Luck) without trading up and giving up resources, you don’t think twice. If Daniel Jones performs this year, you trade him for a late 1 or early 2. Heck, if NE is picking early to mid 20’s- they would happily give up that for Jones. That would give us a generational QB, an extra 1st and the first pick in the second round. Who wouldn’t sign up for that?
Even with Cam?
Doubt BB views Cam as the future, but the original quoted post is spot on. However, I doubt they end up with first pick.
As for SB, hard worker, good guy, not a diva, hope he comes back hard

What about Cam's usage suggest that Bill is thinking of him as a long term option?
2-4 weeks is a typical time to let the swelling go down before surgery. Nobody knows how Saquon's body will respond nor do we know the details around the meniscus damage which is the biggest wildcard. Partial or full ACL tear they are still going to replace with either a cadaver ACL, a patella tendon or a hamstring graft; the hamstring graft is more likely I'd assume because it is typically stronger and less risk associated with his body rejecting.
My bet is that his biggest risk is the meniscus tear, second is the infection post surgery. If all goes well and the meniscus is only a bucket handle tear my bet is that he's back for week 1.
