Sy's Review talked about the season and still being alive

jvm52106 : 9/22/2020 11:53 am
and it is because the whole NFC EAST sucks. Sy's review mentioned possible positioning coming these next few weeks and look at these schedules:

Giants- 49ers, Rams, Cowboys and WFT

Cowboys- Seahawks, Browns, Giants and Cardinals

Eagles- Bengals, 49ers, Steelers and Ravens

The Football Team- Browns, Ravens, Rams and Giants

When you look at those next 4 games the Cowboys would seem to maybe have the better shot but, the Boys defense is putrid and they should be 0-2. The Seahawks will put points on them and I would think the Browns will too. The Cardinals are a team to watch as they can play physical defense and their offense is starting to really gel.

Eagles can get better against the Bengals and beat up 49ers but, the 49ers may be getting their offensive guys back by that game and the Egales problems are fairly wide spread. If they don't win both of those games they will be facing a very tough task the next two weeks with the Steelers and Ravens.

WFT- they look to have the hardest road as they get the Browns coming off a bit of rest having played Thursday and then the Ravens. The game against the Rams will not be a good matchup either as the Rams defense and solid offense will pose problems for the Skins.

We get the 49ers right off their costly win over the Jets and seriously banged up. Then the Rams who actually worry me a lot with Aaron Donald coming after Jones. Then we get two division games that we have to win. Win those and assuming the others in our division struggle still and suddenly we are feeling a whole lot better.

The NFCE

Has been horrible the last 3 years. The only problem was we have been worse.

It'd be nice to string together some wins for sure. A few divisional wins would be a welcome change for this team!

season is 16 games and by my count we've lost 2. Let's just calm the fuck down and see where this goes. Great chance at a win Sunday.
Thing is I don't care about winning our division

because I don't see us going far in the playoffs. BUT I WANT AT LEAST ONE VICTORY AGAINST PHILLY. AND one against Dallas, but PHILLY first. I think we stand a better chance this week against the banged up Niners, as you stated, especially if Jimmy G is also out, than we do against a Rams team that seems to be clicking early. I'm hoping Garret can help us against BOTH Dallas and Philly as he has experience against the later and knows the personnel of the latter well. Beyond that I think a 7 win season is attainable and should be seen as a significant improvement without Barkley.
The season

ISnt really alive in my opinion. THe nfc east hasn’t been good most years and it hasn’t helped us
interesting post - I think the 2nd place NFCE team is likely 2-4

after these 6 games and the NYG have just as good of a shot being there as PHI and WFT. The Steelers and Ravens are obviously 2 very tough matchups for Philly, so if they don't run off wins in the next 2 weeks they may not get there.

The NYG are in the same boat needing a win this week with SF as banged up as they are, and I think there's a good shot that happens. I don't think they will beat the Rams or Cowboys, though it's possible. They should beat the WFT.

WFT have the least friendly schedule of those 3 teams since they don't get the Niners as beat up as they are now. They could beat the Browns or the NYG but Dwayne Haskins has not shown any serious signs of improvement even with 2 relatively easy defensive matchups so far.

The Cowboys offense is the only very good unit in the division and unless they continue to have injuries pile up it should carry them to wins over inferior teams like Cleveland, NYG, and Arizona and to a healthy lead in the divisional race.
Division

How can we talk about winning the division when we are 13-37 in our last 50. We are a terrible team they cannot run the football consistently, cannot rush the passer, cannot get off the field on 3rd down and we turn it over every week. Let's win one game before the 5th week. Just one
Need to win game 3
SLIM_ : 9/22/2020 1:05 pm : link
49er team is incredibly banged up. We can't talk about the division right now, we need to win a game.
the giants will be lucky to get to 3 wins for the season
GiantsFan84 : 9/22/2020 1:24 pm : link
this team SUCKS. the bears are not a good team at all
Hey man..
LawrenceTaylor56 : 9/22/2020 1:59 pm : link
we lost Saquon. Daniel Jones job just got easier. The Offensive line will now block harder. It's what jvm said. I believe that scorching hot take of his.

The line...will block....harder. LMAO HAHAHAHAHA rofl
I could definitely see giants going to the playoffs

All they need is to send someone with covid secretly to all their opponents practices

It doesn't matter how bad the division is. The Giants are still very, very bad. You can easily make an argument that NYG are the worst team in the NFCE.

Every year, I think we'll finally start to see the tide turn. No evidence of it so far this year, either. This is going to be another long, miserable football season that's over well before Halloween - which is what we're used to.
This is beyond mere optimism
Greg from LI : 9/22/2020 3:12 pm : link
This borders on full-blown delusion. This was already a bad team and they lost the one elite talent they had.

Someone sent me a stat that that giants
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/22/2020 3:28 pm : link
Don't even have 295 yards of total offense yet this season. Havent bothered to check if thats true or not but it feels accurate.

Jones has 520 yards passing through 2 games.

the rushing stats don't add a ton to that, but clearly the stat shared was wrong.

Lol, we've been terrible but there's no way that can possibly be true.

arcarsenal : 9/22/2020 3:36 pm : link
Oh - on a per game basis, if that's what he meant, I think that would be true.

But combined, no.

Looks like we were about 290-295 total yards in both games, so that must have been what he meant.
Sorry to spout a cliche, but

it ain't over 'til it's over.

I'm not a myopic homer. There's just no way to know what's going to happen week to week. Teams start out hot and fall off a cliff. Teams look inept, then jell. Some 0-2 teams will still be in contention at the end. Some 2-0 teams will finish with losing records.

I'm going to pay attention as long as it's interesting. My definition of interesting is pretty broad — young players developing and/or the chance to make the playoffs and compete for a title.

Some teams start 0-2, finish 2-14, fire their GM, and draft a generational talent at QB with the 1st pick.

Dare to dream!
It's alive

Just not for the Giants.
If anyone has any optimism
cjac : 9/23/2020 4:47 pm : link
I’m not sure what you’ve been watching
It's very hard to win games...
bw in dc : 9/23/2020 7:30 pm : link
when you constantly lose the turnover battle. That really needs to change - getting guys who can take the ball away.

Some of that is luck, but it's also the right type of players and good coaching.

Still not convinced we have the right type of players and good coaching to change that.

So it's a very hard sell to think we are ready to compete. Even in the Least...
