DJLM's head. Costs two runs. Tanaka pitched a great inning and got fucked by the ump; fucked on a no reason bad hop and fucked by a shitty throw away by Gary...Gary playing himself off the team..
But looks like I've just not watched a disaster: 3 errors, weak pitching from Tanaka, and no one can hit through the 5th? Not sure I'll stick with it tonight.
they look like world-crushers one night and minor leaguers the next. I know that's baseball Suzyn, but other good Yank teams weren't so inconsistent. I think they have it in them for a long playoff run, but I'm not that confident about it. Hoping they put everything together at the right time.
These games with Toronto have been wild. So many ass-kickings in both directions. Seems like every game is just one team absolutely demolishing the other one. We got paid back for Tuesday last night.
Anyway, I know positioning is still up in the air, but I get the impression the Yanks are kind of just getting their ducks in a row here and preparing for the postseason.
I think we'll see a more consistent team next week.
The AL is wide open, but this initial best of 3 spooks me - just because it only takes one off night to wind up in a big hole.
But one thing about a lot of these blowouts - they become blowouts because of how Boone is handling the bullpen. He's more or less choosing to concede some of these games rather than leaning on his quality relievers to keep them fairly close. I think there's more than a little cost benefit analysis going on here. Whether that's a smart play or not will vary depending on who you're asking.
to borrow a line from Boone, 'they need to tighten this shit up'....Their defense is so erratic this season.
Their baserunning at times doesn't help either.
Yep - we've seen Kratz on the mound twice this week - haha.
So, it's definitely some of that, too. Once some of these games are starting to get away, it seems like Boone is just preferring to concede the games rather than drain the bullpen.
I'm sure we'll want to get into October on a high note, but it's definitely more important to get there healthy and set up correctly. We're in. That's all that matters at this point with this format. TB already won the ALE, so there's nothing for grabs there.

If we can get into the ALDS, I like our chances.
They haven't been consistent all year, the record with ups and downs states that, why are they going to start next week?
They have given no evidence of that this season.
It's a 60 game, anomalous season - outside of the Dodgers, who really has been consistent the whole way? Most teams haven't been. This is what MLB has been this year. Sudden postponements, cancellations, 7-inning doubleheaders, new extra inning rules...
Who would you look at in the AL and say "well, they've been great and consistent all year long" ?
Tampa had a good campaign but they haven't been that consistent, either. Look at their September - they're 12-9.
It's not a Yankees thing, it's a baseball thing.
I'll gladly take this roster in the AL going into October.

More than the Dodgers have been consistent, we'll see what happens. The Rays have been consistent, 12-9 is a lot better than 5-15, after starting
16-6, then followed by a 10 game winning streak after
5-15. Most teams haven't been that
wildly inconsistent, that's what I am saying.
It could be done. Both fast, both good OBP... I like moving Stanton to the 3 hole with Voit as protection.
If Gary would only start hitting, even .250!
Though Engram is close...
He is everything any team should want in a player
Who was that no-hitting catcher the Angels used to have? Was the same thing - the guy only hit against the Yankees.
That fucker Steve Pearce made a career based on hitting the Yankees, too. Career .256/.332/.440 hitter but .280/.375/.560 against the Yankees.
They have the talent to get it done but i've seen nothing this season that says they will. Far too inconsistent - iffy rotation and streaky bats.
Dodgers have held up their end of but the AL remains wide open.
