When the Giants moved to the Meadowlands in 1976 it opened the door for others to be wowed having a team closer in an area needing something more.

In a an era when the next generation of Giant fans either followed in their father's footsteps, or jumped to other teams giving up on losing football. DallASS, Pittsbugh, Miami, ... soon the Niners. Knew a ton of Jet fans who jumped to the Niners.

In the Meadowlands if you didn't have a ticket you simply paid for parking tailgated all game long, eventually a ticket would turn up IF you really wanted to attend.

Today there is no draw. Metlife is drab, boring, adding to the poor product on the field of play. In addition Fantasy football if anything exposes the team being less as other connect to new teams differently.

The masses are more educated in the game then in past, limited heart strings to reel in, an eradicated season ticket list for an expensive hobby ....

Perhaps the Giants font office lives in a bubble to a degree. If fans were allowed to attend not certain what the crowds would be like if much at all.... maybe attending to finally get out, or sell tickets to rival fans to offset the poor product on the field.

The Giants BRAND is at all time low, reaching for locks with high draft selections is concerning but not unexpected. Wellington used to use magazines to pick players .....

Its nice they mail out t-shirts, etc to season ticket holders, while providing links to "coach speak" reports only to be repetitive after every loss.

The entire sports world is laughing at the majority of the NJ/NY area teams and rightfully so.

No doubt, the decision making at the top has been poor. There's no way this is all a Mara issue.

However 2 GMs , 3 HC and still being the worst team in the league does indicate an ownership issue. It's the fear of radical change and the unknown. I think Mara kind of knows too...


Accorsi helped him for example on hiring Front office. So It's not like he isn't looking for outside help.

Joe Judge is from the Bellichek tree, a bit of a risk, but it's early on in his tenure, he has a good staff and this is a bit of a departure from more traditional Giants hires.

Basically, I think they need a very different person from outside the norm to take over the franchise football operations. Enough Giants retreads.

You think Gettleman should have been hired over Reese? I would love to hear the rationale behind that. Reese had plenty of flaws. But looking at the draft alone- Smith, Nicks, JPP, Linval Joseph, Collins and Beckham were all very good picks who turned into very good NFL players. And Beckham was the highest pick at 12th overall.

Compare that to Gettleman's draft record. And let me know when brings in a very good NFL player to the Giants. Because he has yet to do that in 3 years here.

If Gettleman had been hired as the GM over a decade ago then the Giants wouldn't have wasted seasons now that he actually is the GM.

We know about the level of loyalty the Maras maintain, John and Wellington. Promoting from within in the case of Reese might have been the wrong move but the Giants won 2 Super Bowls with Accorsi and Reese drafts. But say it was a mistake because Reese’s drafts turned Eli from a gutsy 2 time SB winner into a shell shocked player who could no longer see the field: But bringing Accorsi back to hire Gettelman was absolutely the wrong choice, and that is on Mara. We really don’t know if DJ (haven’t heard anyone calling him Danny Dimes lately)will ever be good in this league, so for better or for worse, that’s on Mara too. Hopefully they learn after this season and go outside the organization and former employees and associates of it to make their next GM hire and hopefully anyone with the last name Mara sticks to the business of the team and not player and coaching acquisitions.
