I always am baffled that coaches never call timeout during this. The saints are on the 10...it’s not like they are going to run out of time. Call timeout to get 40 seconds of extra time when you get the ball back if you’re the chargers. It’s unreal.

Jones made plenty of throws like that last year, two to Slayton in the same game, but this board tends to forget nice plays.
Herbert does look good though. He threw an awful pass that was a gift INT earlier in the 4th, which I imagine if it were the Giants it would have been caught.

We don’t have any 6’4 220lbs WR with 38 inch Verticals on this team. Or 6’3 215lb WRs with Route running ability (Allen). Or 6’5 245 lb TEs that can catch and block (Henry).
But yea. I think it’s TOTALLY fair for us to compare Herbert and Jones apples to apples.

People just want to shit on him because he is an easy target, team is losing blame the QB. What is sad is those same people just either not accepting or not realizing how bad the team around Jones is and how little he has to work with .
OL that cant pass protect, no running game, and receivers who dont get open or run the right routes . Place the blame where it belongs on DG and the rest of the Front office for how bad this team is lacking in talent offensively . I'm not saying Jones is blameless he could and hopefully will get better but hes really in a shit situation
Herbert would have gone 1OA in '18 AND in '19. He'd have likely gone above Mayfield and Darnold, and Kyler was a riskh pick that the Cards made bc Kliff Klingsbury wanted him so bady and recruited him in college. Think back to when Kyler was drafted - at the beginning of the year, nobody even expected him to play football.
Herbert was pegged to go #1 in both those drafts, of course he's better than Jones. Give me a break about Jones '"lofty #'s". He threw like 5 TDs against the Redskins, in OT, in a game that cost us Chase Young.
He's not remotely close to Herbert's level as a prospect. Who knows, Herbet could bust, but who the fuck would hitch their wagon to Jones over Herbert at this point? I can't tell you who will end up being better, but I can tell you who looks more likely to be better.

He hasn’t done it in his opportunities this season, but no one should act as if he never did it or is incapable of doing it. He did it literally the first time he started a game. I’m not someone who’s knee deep in DJ Kool-Aid. For example, if they get the first pick they must draft Trevor Lawrence. But I’m not going to pretend he’s never played well (really well in fact) in some games. That stuff is driving me crazy on BBI. Someone said look at that nice play Herbert made rolling to his right and completing the pass after avoiding pressure. Jones did that on the last drive of the game on a pass to Slayton. If people don’t like him, that’s fine. Wanna say he’s playing badly right now? Go ahead. But don’t do the shit where people are pretending he’s never given any reason for strong optimism. Josh Rosen has never shown any evidence of being good. DJ isn’t like him.
I think more time needs to be spent analyzing why Jones has fallen so short of last season. Even in bad games last season, he’d still have 1 or 2 gorgeous throws, often for TDs. Now, it’s just nothing.

If you look at Herbert and think Jones has shown anything to that level, you need your eyes checked out.

We saw Jones put up amazing numbers AGAINST A REAL TEAM ?PLAYOFF TEAM in the first half of a game, and play with a lead by 3 scores?
What game was that? I must have missed that.
