Players with trade value

JoeyBigBlue : 10/15/2020 7:26 pm
If the Giants go full tank mode and start another rebuild , who on this team do you think has trade value?

Guys with value.

Dalvin Tomlinson
Evan Engram
Jabrill Peppers
Graham Gano
Kyle Fackrell
Leonard Williams?

Anyone else I’m missing.
They are not going

full tank mode. They may send off a couple pieces they decide they will not be using in the future. Maybe Peppers doesn't meet what they need. Maybe they don't want to pay DT. Maybe they'd like to get rid of Zeitler. But anyone else is untradeable or not worth trading(Tate?).
Sports Illustrated recently posted an article suggesting Evan Engram.

Jabrill Peppers. Sure, if he was on another team and they were calling the Giants
Fackrell

has some value for a competitive team. You could possibly get a 4 since his contract is really reasonable.
Engram is worth nothing
BillT : 10/15/2020 7:59 pm : link
He's shown he isn't a difference maker no matter what scheme he is put in. Tomlinson, Fackrell and Williams are FA at the end of the season so it's a rental worth very little unless DG is your GM and we have him tied up. Peppers has a year left but hasn't shown he's a difference maker either. Trading Gano would just be stupid.
Leonard Williams

Maybe, the Giants can get a 3rd round pick...

Why would trading Gano be stupid? Kickers are very replaceable. If he Nets us a 6th or better, he’ll be traded.
I think rebuilds strive to add good players

Hard to understand how moving good young players meets that criteria

You move players who cost too much and won't be good or young by the time you get better.

If Barkley were healthy he'd be someone I'd consider moving. But he has no value right now so he comes back next year.

To move players at the end of their contracts or on inexpensive contracts to get draft picks for the draft.
Evan Engram lol

I treat it like Apple at this point. The guy is quick on his way to 1st rd. bustville. Anything we get for him at this point is a bonus.

He’s on a one year contract. Unless Gettleman has a brother out there working for another team a 4 is a pipe dream I think.

Most of his money is tied up in his bonus. Low cost DB when they are dropping around the league like flies.

Exactly. I agree with you about Barkley too. Herschel Walker that dude.

the Rams were hoping he'd fall to them in that draft, if he does go somewhere its probably there
None of these guys have trade value
kdog77 : 10/16/2020 1:16 am : link
The Jets just cut Lev Bell because they could not find a team willing to trade for him. You need to find at least 2 teams willing to give up future assets for these bums to have a market. None of these players are on long term deals and let’s be honest they are not proving to be great picks by the Giants. Let’s just hope DG does not get to hand out lucrative contract extensions to these JAGs before his dumb ass is shown the door.
Lets say Engram has a "coming out party" this week and catches
SGMen : 10/16/2020 3:29 am : link
8 - 120 - 2 TD and shows his speed. Teams know he is capable and has speed which you can't teach! But honestly, what would we get for him? A #6?

I don't think we will trade anyone of merit.

I think we get the #2 pick in the draft after the Jets and from there we trade down as someone will want QB Fields. We need a large influx of talented youth.
Engram BBieng Undervalued Here
Jeffrey : 10/16/2020 8:23 am : link
I get the frustration over the dropped passes and the injuries, but I think those who are willing to trade Engram for a mid-round draft choice are kidding themselves. The kid has shown what he is capable of if used correctly--something that has not happened this year. What are the criticisms--can't block as a TE. So what, many TEs are not good at blocking, but how many have his speed and if used correctly he is a nightmare for LBs and DBs. Besides the so-called blocking TEs that the Giants have are not exactly setting the world on fire. Drops passes. True but correctable and frankly the QBs that he has played with have not exactly been models of consistency with respect to their accuracy. Does anyone here really believe that the Giants could get a better player with a 3rd or 4th round draft choice-look at recent history--Oshane, Love, Hill, Lauletta, Webb, Gallman and Beal. Who among those is a clear upgrade for this team over Engram.

Do they feel his production can offset his limits?...that's the question going forward. I'm not well versed on his contract and their future obligations.

I'd like to see them keep their good young players...most especially the guys who've begun to emerge on defense in their front 7. They need to decide which of them they can bring back before swapping.

I know it's 0-5, but it's a relatively young team...they seem more physical and they are playing at a higher speed then past years. They've had shots at the end of games... they certainly could have won 2 games, and that would feel alot different.
Leonard williams
chuckydee9 : 10/16/2020 8:47 am : link
No one was willing to give up a 3rd for him other than DG and at that point his cup contact was cheaper than it is right now.. plus it's not like he has played so much better than he has with the Jets.. why would teams suddenly want to trade for him?

I do think Engram is undervalued here to some degree. Just makes sense that a more stable team with a dynamic passing offense that doesn't require its TEs to stay in block much should be able to use Engram in any number of ways. The Giants are clearly not that team.

I still would look to deal him for a pick though because he is becoming, more and more, a frustrating piece of the puzzle here in NY. Simply put, some guys don't work out.

A middle round pick is decent value. And the idea its not worth it because the NYG historically blow those picks with the names above is foolish thinking.
We will see how this plays over the rest of the season
LBH15 : 10/16/2020 9:07 am : link
and offseason, but the big elephants in the room that should be considered for trade value are:

Leonard Williams - highest paid player on Giants in 2020. Would be a boon to deal him in-season, and with a couple of actual sacks this year maybe we get a decent pick.

Kevin Zeitler - second highest paid player in 2020. Presuming some competing team will be beset by injuries on their OL and still be willing to take him in-season despite his declining play. Giants move Lemieux right into RG. Throw in Jabrill Peppers to seal the deal as they seem to move around together anyway and his salary goes way up next year.

Daniel Jones - completely tied to draft position, team's desire to go QB in draft and probably a new GM in place.

Saquon Barkley - obviously with injury this will have to wait until some point in the future. But while nobody wants to talk about it, trading him could be a real coup for NYG before knee and contract issues hamper team.

Engram

should go for whatever you can get.

I'm NOT trading Gano. He's probably the best player on the team right now.

(Knock on wood)

Not true. People can hate the trade all they want but he's been playing much better for us than he did at any point last year. I actually think he has some decent trade value even being a pending FA.
Would Brkley get a 3rd rounder at this point

Point is...Giants, most likely, can't recoup the 3rd and 5th round picks they gave up, nor any return on his massive salary compared to his production.
Leonard
Black_Flag : 10/16/2020 7:35 pm : link
WE gave up too much for him

He sucks.

He will be cut or at least I hope.

gettleman got caught in an "oh shit moment" when they went 0-2 last year and this team was JV on defense. So he brough in Leonard to make it look respectable. But that is all it was, and he can go now given more time to fid someone better through the draft (I hope) |o
