to get a like-new Herman Miller Aeron chair on craigslist for $550. One of the best health investments I've ever made.

Hands down (if it's within your budget), but be aware of the seat width. Most chairs are a standard 19", but if you're a bigger guy, you'll want 21". It makes a huge difference

my new house has nice new hardwoods and rather than get floor protectors, I got replacement wheels that are basically rollerblade wheels. Silicone, clear and durable but won't mark the floors. Roll very nice, too. Would definitely recommend if you have floors that need protecting.

I have both the Knoll ReGeneration chair linked below and I have the Herman Miller Aeron in my home office.

I pretty much don't sit in the Aeron - I've never understood the love for this chair b/c its not great for my back and it got that hard bar across the front beneath the webbing. Not my favorite and that's why I got the Knoll ReGeneration. At my law firm we had all Aeron's and there were a lot of complaints so we looked at the ReGenerations and they scored much better in overall satisfaction and MTF.

One thing is that I like to with one leg tucked under me and that isn't possible in the style of chair you linked. You need the floating arm rest like what's in the Aeron or the ReGen.

But at the end of the day its your ass so winds up being subjective.

Steelcase also makes good stuff. My wife has a steelcase amia which is a very nice chair, more padding, significantly cheaper than the embody.

To be fair, I heard the ReGen chair was more comfortable too. But that doesn’t give it a pass for being ugly as sin. Aeron has been great for my back (had a slipped disc a few yrs ago which led me to get it) and the slight decrease in comfort is worth it for the far superior design (in my opinion obviously).

Gesture is as good as it gets

I have the Generation - the ReGeneration is newer and much more expensive. Also, as Josh notes, the Regeneration is pretty darn ugly. The Generation looks nice though - and its held up very nicely over about 5 or 6 years now.
