Kyler Murray, back in Texas for MNF ....

Jim from Katonah : 10/16/2020 12:50 pm
The little dude with the 28 inch arms is in Dallas under the lights on Monday night. In case you aren’t familiar with his bio, he’s considered by some to be the greatest Texas high school player ever. 42-0, three straight state titles, unfathomable stats (186 TDs!), a legend. Followed that up with a pretty good season at Oklahoma (Heisman), the 9th overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft etc. etc.

Still finding his way a bit in the NFL (6 INTs this year), still sub-.500 as a starter, but only 23 and by my reckoning, one of the more uniquely cool athletes I’ve ever seen. Some of the greatest 5-10 yard quickness ever, great vision, and a cannon. I got a funny feeling he’s gonna light it up in Big D in prime time. Should be fun to watch ....
I have serious doubts that the guy will be anything more than a

Curiosity.

He has been less than average in an offense that he was hand picked for, and which was designed for his skills.

Now Miami has their own curiosity but has so far had the good sense to not put him out there.
I have both him and Hopkins in FF

Hope they hang 50 on Dallas
would love to see it

Kyler is really fun to watch
Less than stellar career so far
Saquads26 : 10/16/2020 1:45 pm : link
But I’m sure their fans aren’t dumb enough to write him off yet like ours are with Jones
curiosity? less than stellar?
giants#1 : 10/16/2020 2:02 pm : link
He's completing 69.6% of his attempts for 1299 yds and 8 TDs to only 6 INTs (1 fumble) in 5 games. That puts him on pace for >4100 yds in his 2nd season. And then add to that 296 yards and 5 TDs on the ground (that's a pace of 950 yds/16 TDs).

If you combine his passing/rushing stats he's averaging over 300 yds of offense and >2.5 TDs per game with <1.5 TOs/game (and a 3-2 record). What else would you want a 2nd year QB to do?

Over his completion percentage when he dinks and dunks like mad to great receivers who rarely drop passes.

They want him to be more like Jones. You know, worst QB in the league, terrible QBR, a 2 to 5 TD/INT ratio..

you don't add anything to this site. Just wanted to throw that out there. You constantly complain about Jones on threads that don't even involve him. Be better.

As for Murray, I hope he does well. Its fun seeing undersized guys break the mold of what we all think a QB should be. I think a lot of people want to see him fail because they predicted he'd fail 18 months ago.

Much like russell wilson when KM gets hit he does so in a way that avoids major contact. Its really fun to watch how shifty he is.

I think this spot on. I kind of chuckle when folks here shit on Murray and even guys like Prescott when this place would be bonkers for Jones if he had those kinds of numbers.
apparently Allen Iverson
santacruzom : 10/16/2020 3:29 pm : link
was a phenomenal QB in high school. I wonder if Kyler Murray's career is unfolding like Iverson's would have.

Absolutely spot on. I hear a lot of people make proclamations about him and it's clear they've never seen him play. Guy doesn't take shots. Sure he can't beat you from the pocket, but at least he has potential to be a guy you give a second contract to in that offense. Second contracts to QBs need to be to guys that either bad skill positions players good, or make offensive lines look better than they are. QBs that need both a good offensive line and skill players and then demand a top contract is sure fire way to get buried in mediocrity for 10 years. In a league where its hard to get offensive lineman, he gives you the ability to pass on investing there.

I think it's interesting to see teams break the mold and it def gives a competitive advantage in the league where everyone just tries to copy whoever had the last success. Pair him with a solid defense and skill players it should be interesting to see what they can accomplish.
Saw this guy for the first time this year against the Jets
ghost718 : 10/16/2020 4:19 pm : link
He gets his own stat tracker on the side of the screen, for pretty much the entire game.
He's a good QB
NINEster : 10/16/2020 4:48 pm : link
Great athleticism and a nice arm.

However, he can be game planned against. Makes nice flashy plays but stat lines tell a different story. Remove the mobility and he's not a first round QB, IMO.

How far he can go is a good question. He's a lot like young Wilson.

What a weird comment. Of course removing the mobility makes him ordinary. Let’s just remove Mahomes’ arm while we are at it.

Murray has played about 20 games and the team itself is still a work in progress. Whatever game plan you employ he will be finding ways to counter it as he gets better.

We’re going to have to agree to disagree on that one my friend. My money is on this unique little dude winning Super Bowls. Epic talent and a winner.

i've watched a lot of football. As much as anybody on here. Been watching since 1973, and not just the Giants. I have a strong opinion about what I see in this QB. Sorry it offends you.

Not true. Why does it bother you that I have a different opinion than you about the QB? I sincerely feel it as a Giants fan. I don't see it with this guy. I wish he would prove me wrong. I actually was cautiously hopeful about the pick. I didn't love him at the time, per se, but I liked that they had a conviction about the player and I felt we should move on from Eli if there was a guy that the professionals deemed worthy of the job as a franchise quarterback. I'm a giants fan. Having watched him I don't see anything to think he has the skills to be a franchise guy. He does have the odd play that is very good, but they all do that, even backups. He is not accurate, he is easily flustered, he is slow in the pocket, he locks onto receivers, he is fearful to let it loose on a consistent basis. The one skill he has that is above average is running in the open field. Not escaping pressure per se, in the pocket he seems to run the wrong way a lot of the time, run for his life. But once in the open field he is a load and looks really good. That is what my eyes tell me. Of course you are free to disagree. I don't call you names and I wish you would refrain from calling me names. And as I said above, I would love to be wrong, wrong, wrong about him. I wish he would turn into Tom Brady with wheels.
Loved murray before he was drafted
djm : 10/16/2020 8:53 pm : link
He’s done nothing to change my mind. Terrific young player. There’s no doubt some of you don’t watch the games or you hold all the qbs to different standards. I would drive the entire giants team to Arizona if I could trade them for Murray.

I agree he looks promising. He has been inconsistent from the pocket but he does have a plus arm. The main thing about Murray is he is amazing and creative running the ball, second only to Lamar (maybe). He has special talent. I don't know if it translates long term to becoming a franchise QB, but I wouldn't bet against him.
Murray is generating a lot of yards
djm : 10/16/2020 9:06 pm : link
Yards gained keeps the offense on the field. Gives you better chance to win the game. He’s still a kid and he’s already better than half, give or take. If he’s stays healthy and works at his craft he’s going to have a great career.
