The latest episode of the Giant Insider Podcast is saying what I think Giant fans are already thinking:
What the hell is this?
Can I ask you guys something? If everyone is making their break at the same time wouldn't that give Jones only one, maybe two, reads at the most? What if the first two are not open? The 3rd and 4th receiver has already given up too much time for the defender to make his break.
Aren't most modern offenses creating route combinations where breaks are happening at different times and varying lengths down the field so Quarterbacks have 3 or 4 options?
Garrett was raised in the Vertical . He modified his offense his last years with Dallas to accommodate Dak. Did you like getting your brains beat in twice by the Cowboys last season ? That was Garrett’s offense . All of a sudden he’s a moron .
I think what Rivera said about Jones this week was accurate . He is being asked by Garrett to do more in this offense than last year . Eli had a really hard time early on in Coughlin’s offense . All offenses have as their desired goal scoring TDs. But Shurmer fabricated a ruse with the highly deceptive QB rating that gave the appearance that Jones was playing well . In reality Daniel was not .
Another fair point is that Garrett’s offense can’t work without a viable running game . In the WCO dink-pass emphasis there is the substitution of the running game . Shumer was moving the ball between the 30s without ever accomplishing anything except against Washington, who basically quit on their season last year .
It’s not pretty right now . All we can do is wait and hope that it comes around . But not having even one bonafide NFL receiver out their tomorrow is not going to make it easy . Like Cowboy linebacker Smith ,who played the screen game tough last week , thwarting that avenue of recourse even as the Cowboys pinned their ears back going after Jones , the Football Team will rush hard but still keep a backer on the Giants RB.
I think the Giants Defense is going to have to win the game .
Yeah, a lot of tbe points made here are more that's how I feel than reality.

Even if Garrett was the mastermind behind that offense, when you look at the inner workings of it, especially in 2019, Garrett had success against the Giants because he would continuously exploit personnel that didn't belong on the field.
If you remember those games, Deandre Baker got torched for two touchdowns, one v one vs Amari Cooper, terrible mismatch. Running Zeke straight at
Alec Ogletree's gap, BJ Hill getting driven 5 yards back by Zach Thomas. The Tavon Austin td vs Janoris Jenkins.
Whenever we played the Cowboys, they avoided our good players and abused our bad players, its why we almost never stood a chance. In 2016, when we could stop Zeke with Damon harrison, and pressure Dak with OV, they didn't win those games. There were no players on that team that were blatantly exploitable, besides Trevin Wade and Landon Collins in coverage.
This is a bad roster, the ways he relied on to put up points in the Cowboys offense isn't going to work here. Has he realized this? Is he struggling to adjust? Or is he content with continuing down the same path so that ownership hops aboard the Trevor Lawrence train? I'm not accusing, just throwing thoughts out there as an ignorant and concerned fan.
The best case scenario for every Giants fan is that Jones becomes a legit franchise qb. So, I hope that we get much more intentional about fitting our scheme with the roster that is available. Jones' failure will be an indictment on Garrett.

Revisionist history is grand! Garrett was forced to give up play calling duties to keep his HC gig. Cowgirl fans threw parties when he was replaced as an OC, and even bigger parties, when he was fired. He was a total dud in Dallas and the love for him by Giants fans is silly. Don't we have 2 passing TDs in 5 games?
That's REALLY NOT the podcast you want to glean technical understanding of any offense or defense from.
Nick Fellato and the other dude on Big Blue Banter are way better at breaking down Xs and Os.
A friend gave me a year long subscription to The Giants' Insider when regular media and internet were not available to me, and the number of times I shook my head in disagreement with Jerry Foley's analysis was overwhelming. I didn't renew the subscription.
Before then, I had subscribed to Howard Livingston's Inside Football weekley Giant's digest, and it was brilliant and insighful. But Howard passed away, and no one's journalism on the Giants has adequately replaced his.
Howard was a former player for the Giants, and an English professor at Pace IIRC, and friends and tennis playing buddies with guys like Phil Simms.
Great guy too, irreplaceable for insight into the Giants.
Say what you will about Eagles' or Redskins' fans, in my experience they're a thousand times more FB knowlegable than Cowboys' fans.
If Slayton can't go, Washington will win this game for sure as we have only one other WR who know enough to get open sometimes: ole man TATE. They will easily take him away and leave Jones running for his life or simply dumping off for 2 or 3 yards.
Washington 24 - 23 as I think we will actually score more than people think just because well its Washington we are playing!!!
