I believe had a good game. On the radio they noted he and Martinez had 24 tackles

But I noticed it as well. A few times.

Martinez is playing really well for the Giants, but I 100% noticed him slow it down and walk a time or two.

He was making tackles on RB he had in man coverage. That's not what I am talking about. No, I am not saying bench him. What I am saying is when you have a young team that is trying to win that you need your best players to set the example. Again, I am happy for the win and happy to have signed him. I just don't understand the lack of hustle today. Before criticizing the topic, go rewatch the game.

It's not about the overall tackles. But I did mention that he looked like he hurt his ribs today so hopefully this is just an exception.

and got hurt again. And he gutted it out. He's a warrior and I am sure his teammates know it.

but it always seems after a 6 yard gain by the opponent. I lived through the debacle of the ‘70s, but I’ve never felt more disconnected to a Giant team and individual players, than this one.

The Defense was on the field a long time in this game and especially in the second half. TOP has been killing us and the D can’t get off the field on 3rd Downs. I’d give him the shadow of a doubt. I think he’s the best LBer we’ve had in a number of years.

but I know judge will if it’s true. I’m guessing there’s a reason for it but if not it will be addressed.

I didn't notice it, but I am willing to assume this week he was conserving himself coming back in hurt. For crying out loud, the guy was 5th in tackles coming into the game and is likely to move up that list after today. He is on pace for well over 100 tackles and rushing the QB. He has been all over the field every week. This is one of a handful of players who consistently stands out every week for his good play.

a good part of the game and I noticed twice where it looked like a defensive player was "walking" during play.

Both were questionable on whether or not the play was ongoing. Once was on a outside run where the back was tripped up and it looks like Martinez slows up as the back is going to the ground. The other time was a pass play down the middle where the LB jumped to make the play and turned and walked as the receiver caught the ball and was on the ground 10 yards upfield. Couldn't tell if it was Martinez.

If it was evident, it sure didn't seem like it, but if it was - that's exactly what game tape review with the coaches is for.

I think he plays hard and flows well to the ball. His limitations are mostly physical. Not fast enough to stay with guys in coverage and not stout enough to hold position at the point of attack.

But overall a heady player and leader on defense.

the Giants defense only half-steps it when the score is close, the drive before half time and the final drive of any game. Otherwise they're jogging briskly.
