No one is thrilled to be 1-5. But if you take a step back and look at the games.
Lost to a 5-0 Steelers team in a game we were competetive in until the very end.
Lost to a 4-1 Bears team in a game we easily could have won and had a throw to the end zone to win the game.
Got Crushed by a 2-3 team. Everyone has bad games and we were just completely blown out in this one.
Lost to a 3-1 Rams team in a game we held their high powered offense to 17 points.
Lost to the cowboys in a tough divisional game we should have won. Definitely hurt but lost by a FG
So with a completely new coaching staff, no preseason games to iron things out, hardly any in person coaching time due to the virus we have been competitive in all but one game and the five losses coming to teams with a combined 16-8 record 4 of them having coaching staffs that have been in place for years.
It's not the start we obviously all hoped for record wise but realistically this team plays hard every week, looks well coached, and with more time I believe will continue to improve throughout the season. I love coach Judge and think we are in good hands with him at the helm.
I disagree. I think the team has actually played well. They were in the game late against Pittsburgh. They had legit chances to beat Chicago, LA & Dallas.
The issue has been Jones imo. He’s not playing well enough.
Yup. There is no defending it or rationalizing it. Jones is a liability right now. Luckily today, the team overcame it.
The offense is about the worst in the league and it starts with Jones. I hope they make every effort to re-sign Freeman. Gates and Slayton look like keepers. That's it.
I still think Jones is not the answer.
Freeman is a good player though, I've been impressed by his play.
agreed. everyday its competing threads of Jones sucks, Mara sucks, Gettleman sucks, everything in Giant land sucks. It's a developmental year and they still have holes to fill and a new HC who I am optimistic about but is still in hs first year as the head man.
+1.
However, I have some advice, especially for younger guys who were spared the 1970s:
Watch the games, stay loyal, don't root against the team, don't let the losing poison you. Do what you can to keep a clear head; recognize the team's problems but don't wallow in them. The guys who flew the plane over the stadium back in the 70s with the banner saying "15 Years of Lousy Football" were right, but they were taking tangible action, not just venting to other fans. If you feel the need to write to the team, do it. But don't turn your Giants fandom into a rage-fest.
If things get really awful, for you as a fan or on BBI, go for a walk or a drive, go apple-picking or leaf-peeping, or carve a pumpkin. Hug your significant other or your kids, of call your parents or grandparents, do something that feeds your soul. Disconnect from the negativity, turn off the suck.
Sooner or later — maybe much later, but maybe sooner than you think — the Giants will be good again, and you will enjoy that more for having stuck with it during the lean times. Being a front runner is fun, but if you're reading this, you're already a better fan than that.
Life is really, really short. You only have so many seasons. Try to enjoy what you can about Giants football. It's supposed to be fun.

Really well said, Great Dane.

Good post

Lecturing us about living through bad seasons... while we're living through bad seasons.
Top shelf.
How many more years of 0-5 starts do we have to sit through to earn these lousy stripes? Oh wait.... Pfft. It's always about the "Me" generation and how everything encircles them and it will always be.
In more ways than one.
You're tired of the negativity? Well, I'm tired of grasping at straws for positivity. I am tired of accepting less than mediocrity. The bottom line, if this was a good team that won more often than not, nobody here would be up in arms. Instead, this team has lost more games than any other team over the last 3 years. So, no, I'm not fucking happy that we kind of almost beat a team on their worst game of the season. Or well, we were competitive for 3 quarters. Or, if it wasn't for that INT or fumble...How about, we play one game for a full 60 minutes at even a decent quality, instead of hanging around and then giving up scores late in games? Because Washington, or more specifically Rivera, more lost this game with the call to go for 2 than we did to win it.
If Dallas loses and we win on Thursday night SOMEHOW we are still in the division title race.
On Judge - definitely agree. Very good to see him notch his first W.
Or maybe it’s that they are the worst team in the NFL the lasts three years and are approaching a decade of bad football.
I agree. Some here are just plain delusional. 1 win against a bad Washington team and we should be exited? Dave Gettleman needs to go and he can take Daniel with him. Worst record in the NFL over the past 3 years. 1 or 2 meaningless wins won’t help fix the bigger problem.
As a Giants fan I root for the Giants to win every week. The game threads are depressing. It really does seem like its full of trolls who just wait for eah bad play to jump in

With a whopping 240 yards total offense. Yay.
Right? On one hand, I kind of get people jumping for joy over a win of any kind at this point. Kind of. On the other hand, I'm like STFU already. Can we see one 60 minute game of even decent football from this team.
Matt, you keep saying this. I've asked twice now and haven't gotten an answer.
Who's jumping for joy?
You and Greg, and whoever else HATE seeing people look for optimism. You can't wait for threads that talk about it to jump in and tell us all that we should continue to hate the team, and think they definitively stink. Now its perfectly fine if you think that, but why bring down every single thread?
Wins over Washington haven't been hard to come by even in these recent ugly seasons, and the win was one of the more unimpressive ones you'll ever see. I guess I really don't see much cause for optimism there.
Go out and play well and beat Philly. That will be a different story.
Sometimes it's just better to go along with it every once in a while and say every player on this team is good and they all have an upside. Then, maybe by year number 6 or 7 of missing the playoffs and having 3 wins you can turn up the "truth dail" when the team scores 3 points in a loss.
