Chase Young

I know it’s early but I don’t see the “domination” and “once in a generation” ability in this guy. Seems to have limited to no moves other than a rush around and bull rush. I don’t see a game changer out there. Several plays Fleming looked to have no trouble eating him up. He plays on a stacked line and isn’t really producing or scaring anyone.
I was just about to start a thread asking if he played

1 tackle and no presence at all. Not that we made out much better with Thomas. And no I’m not saying either player is a bust just yet but they both look awful
Interesting thought

Haven’t seen enough to know but one can hope.
He’s been dinged up, but overall, he hasn’t been a big factor

Montez Sweat has been the real playmaker for them upfront.
Yes

It’s too early to tell, but I’m not feeling that dominance, like you saw when players like Suh and Joey and Nick Bosa came into the league.

I'm confident that BBI's current player of the century, Trevor Lawrence, will be a better pro than BBI's former player of the century Chase Young.

"THE RACE FOR CHASE!" Those were fun times.
I think

he blew up a couple plays, but again I would have expected more from him going up against Thomas/Peart and Flemming. Also he has quite the supporting cast so I can't imagine it was a matter of being double teamed all game.
yeah the only play he made was when Smith pushed him inside

That forced the INT in the redzone?
He got a sack off Jason Peters early in the season

and people were writing his Hall Of Fame speech.

Only problem is Jason Peters can barely move these days.

He’s a rookie, but Kyler Fackrell shouldn’t have better stats at this point than the future all pro defensive end. Lol this is the issue with over hyping some of these guys. Some of them almost buy into the hype themselves.
And
theking : 10/18/2020 5:43 pm : link
No he didn’t force that INT, Daniel Jones just threw a shitty ball. Bad bad decision making on that play.

He forced Daniels to throw a shitty ball.
Not sure we should be doing this.

Young has been solid so far this year. Our pick not so much

No, he didn’t
Sayin' it about our guys, gotta say it about theirs:

It's a very strange year for rookie development. Obviously Chase Young hasn't hit the league like LT. In general, I think we need to at least wait until the second half of the season to get a read on the rookie class. They were essentially thrown in without the benefit of normal offseason preparation.

I think some CFB fans vastly overrate some of the top prospects from big schools. Chase Young and Dwayne Haskins both played for an Ohio State team that had an enormous talent advantage over most opponents. It's fun to watch I guess — I'm not a big CFB fan — but it can lead you to expect to much when they leap to a pro league where even the worst team is full of guys who were outstanding college players, where nobody has a vast edge in physical talent, and where technique, consistency preparation and determination are often the difference between success and failure.

Dang Man : 10/18/2020 6:13 pm : link
But he’s got 2.5 sacks, 10 tackles and some hurries as a 21 year old rookie heading into today’s game. He also missed a game and played just 13 snaps in another, so he’s accomplished that in what’s basically three games.
i don't think

anybody ever said he was going to be LT.

he should be a great one.. but no LT.

No, tgat is just a shitty scouting repirt. Chase Young forced the throw because Smith can't block and Then Jones made the throw without being set. By your account Jones was standing all alone and threw a shitty pass.. Not true at all.

Yes indeed, TLawrence is the new flavor here now. As if the Giants have a chance to pick 1st in the draft. We could actually have 3-4 wins as well as 0-1.

Now the Jets on the other hand....

I’m looking forward to watching Isaiah Simmons tonite, the other wonder boy BBI favorite ... if he plays.

I thought he looked pretty fucking good.
mittenedman : 10/18/2020 6:46 pm : link
Let's not forget, he's 21 years old. He is built like Michael Strahan and forced a turnover in the red zone. Of course he doesn't know what he's doing on an NFL field yet but I wish he was on our team. Looks like a freak of nature.

Yeah, Lawrence took that title from Darnold.

Not a smart move to compare 2 different stories to the same point of view.

He didn't put enough muster on it as I believe Jones intended to throw it out of the endzone.

WillVAB : 10/18/2020 7:30 pm : link
Don’t typically light the world on fire from day 1. Go look at JPP’s rookie year.

This is why the Giants should’ve been looking to stock the cupboard with ER’s years ago. Now they have nothing and it’s going to take time when they finally get something.
He's an ass kicker
KWALL2 : 10/18/2020 8:20 pm : link
First 2 weeks, he was tossing guys around. He controls the OL. Can get down the line. Makes plays vs the Run.

He's a MUCH better than our top pick.

We should have lost that game last year. He should be on the NYG. We would be in better shape.

It wasn't a bad decision or a bad pass. He got hit while trying to throw it out of the back of the endzone. A 300 lb man slamming you in the chest during the release takes quite a bit of velocity out of a throw.

The NFL is tough and it takes a little time
PatersonPlank : 10/18/2020 9:43 pm : link
No matter who you are, even top picks, don't usually light it up right away. Rodgers sat the bench for his first 3 years, Mahommes for his first year, etc.

Give Chase time, give Thomas time too
Hahahahaha

No NFL team loses simply to gain a higher draft position. Coaches hate to lose. It affects their bank account. And players that seem to take plays off do so for personal reasons, not to improve the team's draft position. All other players play to win. It's their nature as football players.
I remember everyone saying he was really good

and the best pass rusher in his class by a lot. But I don't recall hime being called a "generational talent." I remember it was more like he was being compared to the the Bosa boys, but perhaps not quite as good.

He's a rookie, and he may be banged up. Don't worry, he'll be making the Giants miserable soon enough.
With an OL..
FatMan in Charlotte : 10/18/2020 11:06 pm : link
like ours, I'd expect Young to have been dominant. Afterall, wouldn't that be expected if he were a Giant going against a poor OL?

It doesn't say much about his future one way or another, but the takes that we should have lost to Washington last season are just fucking moronic.
"should have" lost
KWALL2 : 10/18/2020 11:08 pm : link
Maybe "benefited from" a loss works better.

And we would have.

Lets check back on this in 3 years. It won't be so moronic.

doing a victory lap on chase young is high comedy. I’m a Dawgs fan but Thomas was picked two picks after Chase and was riding the pine for half the game.

sb from NYT Forum : 10/18/2020 11:52 pm : link
...people were saying that that's because he was double and triple teamed. But if he couldn't fight through that against college players, how would he do it against pros?
