Peart

CMicks3110 : 10/18/2020 8:06 pm
what were everyone's impressions.

Of the snaps I saw, I REALLY liked what I saw. The guy has a massive frame, with only more weight to put on and it seemed like once he locked onto his defender, they were done, and I think he was mostly on Sweat, who's a pretty good player.

I think we have something here.
There was some talk after the draft

that Peart could be more of a left tackle and Thomas was a right tackle, but still to early to tell
Micks, theres already a post game Peart thread.

What I Noticed

Was his feet. They were very fast. I don't see speed rushers flying around him like Sweat did to Thomis today.

I hope we get additional looks at him as a LT. He is huge and fast. A good combo for a tackle.
Peart made the most of his opportunity

Thomad breaking team rules opened the door for him
I actually think we should switch them
Bleedblue10 : 10/18/2020 8:22 pm : link
Thomas at RT and Peart at LT. Well people are gonna complain that the number 4 pick isn’t the LT. Who cares if they both play their positions well
was watching Wirfs at RT in the Tampa game -
Del Shofner : 10/18/2020 8:26 pm : link
he's another big boy. He looked generally good but they weren't really running behind him during the time I was watching.

But anyway - a good RT is important too. Like others have said, if Peart is at LT and Thomas ends up being a good RT - I'm OK with that.
These dupe conversations are annoying

Exactly. If they both develop into franchise tackles their i don’t care where they were drafted
Most of you probably don't remember
Bob from Massachusetts : 10/18/2020 9:10 pm : link
but Eric Moore was a relatively high first round pick in the Parcells era and that year Jumbo Elliot was taken ? in the second round (can't remember). And Moore was kind of a bust at tackle, although he eventually settled in and did pretty well at guard, while Jumbo became the left tackle and anchored that line for years.

So it certainly wouldn't be shocking if Peart winds up the left tackle and Thomas somewhere else, but Thomas may ultimately be quite good at tackle and Peart somewhere else. In any case, they're separate people and we hope they both work out. But a little too early to tell.
A Train had a very good game

How many times did you hear Chase Young’s name? If Peart were better he’d be starting over Flemings. Can we agree that AT is better than Flemings?

That would actually work out really well (it's OK to end up with a very good right tackle with a top pick even though you intended to get a left tackle)
Wouldn’t care

What side they play it they are both pro bowl caliber players.
A flip could be in order

Probably not until the off-season but viable . Peart looks good . Sweet feet and balance exhibited .
Watched the Tampa game

and Wirf's man has not very good. He had practically nothing to do.

looked good. When I was researching the tackles prior to the draft I loved him and really hoped they got him where they did. He's a player. Thomas also will be good, he just may be more of a RT than a LT but time will tell. I'd also love to see more of Lemieux.
agree with those who dont care where these guys play as long
Victor in CT : 10/19/2020 7:37 am : link
as they become good players. lots of guys have ad to move to a differnet spot to thrive not a big deal.

btw, what do you guys think Gates' play? He seems to be getting every week to me.
Thomas still has a ton of room to grow at LT
ryanmkeane : 10/19/2020 10:15 am : link
let's pump the brakes a bit. Peart's play is really encouraging though either way. Thomas seemingly played better this week but will wait to see what Sy says.

Bottom line as most have said, let's hope DG has found our OTs of the future and they only get better from here.
