The only player the Giants have who creates a mismatch with speed and agility is Slayton. The tight ends are tall
Engram 6-3, Toilo 6-8, Smith 6-5,Tomlinson 6-6.
I think the Giants should put Engram in the slot and play 2 of the other tight ends and let Jones try to put the ball where his receivers can get the ball from the smaller defenders.
Agree with you, Hilary. Engram isn’t a TE. Better in the slot or as

The end-of-line TE.
And as long as Jones continues to be limited to 5-yd passes, might as well give him big targets.
The other value to having Engram out

wide is it helps in the run game. More matchups vs CBs and Safeties where his blocking will be more effective. Ironically the Badgers used to do this with Travis Beckum all the time with great success and then run to his side.
Everything should be explored at this point

If Claypool can do it, why can’t he? He ran a much wider array of routes at Ole Miss than he’s ever ran here. He pretty much lived out the slot, rarely lining up in-line on consecutive downs. It seems to be a better fit for him. Also, why not give him the latitude to work individuals with the WR’s. It would immediately help him be a more consistent catcher and route runner.

And who knows, maybe Freddie Kitchens has negged him out. As a fan, I don’t know much, but we can all smell shit when it stinks. At this same juncture last year, he was the #1 fantasy tight end.

Could the lack of offseason training due to foot surgery hurt him more than he’d care to admit? Maybe he hasn’t fully recovered? Maybe him training in 2019 with OBJ’s trainer had him reach a ceiling that is insanely difficult to maintain without a 3-6 month training commitment, coupled with a hired Chef and daily massages that fell out of priority with his foot being out of commission... Ok, I’ll stop, I sure don’t have the answers

But it just doesn’t make sense that he’s not producing in the Air Coryell, arguably the best TE scheme ever created.

Claypool ran nothing out of Ole Miss... he is from Notre Dame

Gotcha. Engram’s from Ole Miss. Wasn’t clear on the subject of the post. Used ‘here’ as a somewhat obscure reference to the Giants
