Posted this last week and it seemed to spur some decent conversation and stay civil so going for it again.
Below are my non-emotional thoughts to yesterdays game. Feel free to share yours, comment on mine etc...:
* Hoping CJ Board is okay. It seems as if he dodged anything major but those injuries are always scary.
* Wins are wins, take them when you get them.
* Yesterdays win was not a good one.
* It was nice to see someone else's quarterback fumbling the game away for once....
* Washington, just like us, still has a way to go, are they on the right track? Maybe but I can say this about them: They have a very good DLine and a good head coach.
* I like Rivera going for 2 at the end of the game. WFT isn't going to the playoffs so he used the situation to set the tone for the team that their focus was on winning, not tying, the football game.
* If you take out Darius Slayton, our receivers had 2 receptions for 12 yards.
* Slayton didn't have a huge game but continues to be our best receiver. He played hurt, aggravated the injury during the game, then came back in. He may never be the 1 a lot of people are hoping becomes but he's a gamer and a guy you can build around
* Jones's interception should have been overturned but he also shouldn't have throw the ball, or got rid of it sooner. 2x in 6 games he's thrown a red zone int while trying to throw the ball away. You can't do that in 1/3rd or your games.
* Devonta Freeman made 2 pro bowls in his career. He allows us to have a running game of sorts and has played well considering the state of our oline. With all that being said there were a couple runs yesterday I felt Barkley would have probably broken free where Freeman only got 8-9.
* Giving Gettleman credit where its due his FA class this year of Bradberry, Martinez and Fackrell is a very good one. Still doesn't redeem him from some of his other questionable signings.
* Speaking of Fackrell he's been one of our better offensive players lately. Via the int vs Dallas and yesterday's forced fumble he's now accounted for TD's in 2 straight games.
* You would see a massive difference in our defense if we had 1 pass rusher that scared opponents. The guys we have now our decent rotational guys but we still need someone that commands a double team.
* Tae Crowder has been a bright spot. Not putting a gold jacket on him but I've seen enough to say he has a future here.
* On offense I liked the fact the coaching staff rotated Pert and Thomas this week. If either of these guys winds up being the long term LT its a good thing for this team.
* Thomas's bad start aside, I'm still confident that the loser of that battle can be the starting RT for the long term.
* Despite the lack of talent at WR and on the Oline, I still would like to see the team take more shots down the field. It still feels like the offense strategy is just to get inside the 30 and kick a field goal.
* Was hoping to see a little more out of Austin Mack than we did, sometimes we forget that there is a reason guys like him were on the practice squad to start the season.
* Speaking of practice squad WRs it looks obvious CJ Board is going to miss some time. Who is called up in his place? Wouldn't be shocked if we bring 2 up since Slayton clearly isn't 100%.
Jones running option is a nice addition to the offense, but he will not last long if he does not learn to avoid taking hits.
Now that Jones is established as a running threat, hope to see more rollout/move the pocket calls, which might open up the mid-range/deep ball.
Not at all a fan of the ultra-conservative game-calling yesterday.
Garrett has no clue how to use Engram or else the QB simply does not look his way. When he goes elsewhere Giant fans will remember why he is considered a weapon by other teams. All Dallas Sportstalk mentioned before the game is stopping Engram.
Agree that this yer's FA class is a plus for the GM.
Still do not trust this defense as they just cannot get off the field, even against pedestrian offenses.
Gates is improving and this may actually be a decent OL by end of year.
- Feel like that was more of a Washington loss.
* It was nice to see someone else's quarterback fumbling the game away for once. - But still for a backup QB he did better than he should have.
* I like Rivera going for 2 at the end of the game. - I'm in complete agreement here. Think he's a head coach you could easily get behind.
* Slayton didn't have a huge game but continues to be our best receiver. He played hurt, aggravated the injury during the game, then came back in. - Showing grit and continuing to play injured for a couple of weeks is the type player this team has lacked the last few years. Definitely a building block at the least.
* Jones's interception should have been overturned but he also shouldn't have throw the ball, or got rid of it sooner. 2x in 6 games he's thrown a red zone int while trying to throw the ball away. You can't do that in 1/3rd or your games. Absolutely correct. Or if your are throwing it a way chuck it as hard as you can....
* Devonta Freeman made 2 pro bowls in his career. He allows us to have a running game of sorts and has played well considering the state of our oline. With all that being said there were a couple runs yesterday I felt Barkley would have probably broken free where Freeman only got 8-9. - Maybe but I also think there were a few plays where SB would have taken a TFL where DF got to the LOS or a yard or two. I hope we resign him or a similar back.
* Giving Gettleman credit where its due his FA class this year of Bradberry, Martinez and Fackrell is a very good one. Still doesn't redeem him from some of his other questionable signings. - Add Gano and Dixon, who will get lost in games like this. But not sure why Mayo and not Connelly or Devontae downs. Maybe coaching staff made some bad calls on personnel.
* You would see a massive difference in our defense if we had 1 pass rusher that scared opponents. - I think it would make our 'rotational' guys stand out more if we had an edge people were double teaming.
* Tae Crowder has been a bright spot. - He's not outstanding but take him out there over Mayo.
* On offense I liked the fact the coaching staff rotated Pert and Thomas this week. - Thomas missed a meeting. or at least thats the company line. I thought Peart did pretty good and man is he Massive. I think maybe its time to give Lemieux a shot. Zeitler seems shot.
We really need help at saftey. I'm not sure that Love is a guy you can keep trotting out there. Saftey is NOT his spot.
Another week of bad officiating. BOTH teams had Shite calls against them.
Why didn't we go for it on 4th and 2 from the 38? Riverboat might have.
Jones rushing yards are a MUCH needed asset. That said, he is likely to get hurt if we keep relying on it. Too many cheap shots and even acceptable hits are going to come back to haunt him and the team.
I am convinced DG must go. One 'microcosm' of why -Baker Beal, Ballentine. Headcase, not committed, meh. Add to that Love, Holmes, McKinney - Bad, jury is out injured. 6 draft picks ( I left of Williamson who is on PS and FA pick ups). The only one I have hope for is McKinney, who like Beal before him is injured to start his career. draft capital that could be spent elsewhere to buld a team needs to be spent AGAIN on our secondary and at not one but two or three spots (CB and BOTH safety spots). If its not DG then its scouting an player personnel and isn't he responsible for overseeing both of those departments?
have to disagree here --
any coaches review of Giants previous games would show multiple 4th Quarter collapses ..
Washington had ALL the momentum at the end of this game - you tie the game it is pretty much certain Washington wins in OT .
"TE that plays more like a WR" is how the analysts describe him sometimes. Well...maybe. Not a standout WR, that's for sure.
We were hoping his blocking improved going into this year. Any comments on that? I don't record the games so it's tough to rewatch.
Keep them coming.

I agree with you. Having watched Jones and the offense come up small in winning time against Chicago, Los Angeles, and dallas, I would not expect the Giants to score again unless the defense made a big play. And the Giants defense did not come up big in the 4th quarter. All momentum was with Washington.
Those announcers did stink.
Keep them coming.
Glad you enjoyed, plan on doing one Friday as well

Was the completion to Engram on the sideline? Everyone bit on the fake and Engram was basically running free w a safety running over from across the field. Idk just seemed like there was a bigger play there. Which brings me to my second point, announcers are HORRIBLE this year. They are just so bland and never have any real insight into what we are watching. Just bond commentary like in a video game
Those announcers did stink.
Agreeing to this as well. These are the crews you get when your team has only been winning a few games a years.
