The thought of he and Thomas dominating the two tackle positions for the next 10 years (Lemieux, Hernandez, and Gates the inside) makes my heart beat so much faster.
Seems Gettleman is getting blasted at every turn. But the Thomas pick - guaranteed Garrett, Columbo, Judge were all part of that decision. They obviously like both Thomas/Peart. The whole line is improving, as sane people would project. If it does improve, if McKinney shows up and makes an impact - will Gettleman get credit?
and focused on the OL especially after some of the comments that Peart was getting pushed back and having trouble anchoring. I did not see it. I didn't see one play where he gave up pressure.
RE: RE: Judge said the best players are going to play
but people were giving Peart/Thomas credit for Chase Young having a quite day. But I'm pretty sure, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I noticed Chase Young matched up on Flemming most the day. Sweat was over the other too.
So if true shouldn't Flemming get some praise for Chase having a quite day???
Fleming has been worse. We should be starting Peart and Thomas at OT. If it turns out that Thomas is better suited at RT and turns into a Kareem McKenzie-type, but Peart is a starting LT I won't complain that we used the #4 pick on Thomas because we needed to fill both OT positions.
what hurts him is the Giants like Cam’s veteran presence at RT given they already have Thomas and an inexperienced C with Jones. Now you are adding another rookie to the blocking scheme.
that said as each week goes by that becomes less an issue

Yes your correct. Chase was lined up mostly over Fleming

Wouldn't you be happier with a true stud at #4 though? Expecting more out of a top five pick isn't unreasonable.
with getting Peart and Thomas in at the same time is Thomas has ONLY taken snaps at LT. To move him now to RT, when he is already struggling doesn’t sound like a great idea. Peart could step in at RT, but he looks like a natural LT to my untrained eye. I suspect Columbo has a pretty good handle on things. He’s also trying to bring Gates and Hernandez along. His job this year is no picnic but we are seeing progress.
For all the people who want to proclaim Thomas as Flowers 2.0 keep this in mind. Flowers was pretty uncoachable and had a bad attitude. Thomas wants to be coached, he’s a hard worker and will keep at it until he becomes a good player.
My take on this is Colombo knows what he is doing and seeing
He seems to be trying out Peart in different places to figure our what works best. I also think he likes Thomas. In fact being late for a meeting was the perfect excuse Colomobo needed to try out Peart in a "non benching" manner.
I think starting next season the two Tackles will be Peart and Thomas, in whatever combination is best for the OL. Again, in my opinion, if we have these 2 guys starting at LT/RT for the next 5 years then this draft was a hug success (especially considering in McKinney and Holmes). I don't care who plays LT and RT. If Peart is the LT then we got a steal in rd 3.

Maybe I'm mistaken though or it's just one play that sticks out like a sore thumb, but I remember a Freeman run to the left where he got driven back two yards. Regardless, the bigger thing to me is he has excellent feet and uses his long ass arms very well. This bodes excellently for the future.
He is a rookie and didn't even have a real training camp. Probably was training to be the RT this year before he Covid op-outs. I like Peart. The trashing of Thomas is over the top.

The run plays are tough to follow sometimes from the game so I was just mostly focusing on pass pro

IMO, the people giving up on Thomas are a vocal minority

He gave up one pressure. Thing is it was on the TD pass so nobody cares.

Hmmm yet Peart is playing so much better considering he’s a rookie too
6'7 and about 320 - he could easily put on 10-20 lbs over the next few years. Absolute monster if his technique proves to have an NFL starter caliber.
How do you know if he easily put on 20 lbs? Question is how much more muscle he can put on keeping the fat to a minimum. Everyone is different there and he looks like a beanpole comparatively. He has 9.5 inch hands which I thought was odd. That's super small for a guy his size. Regardless he has LT feet and long arms. Not to rush to judgement, but he already looks better in pass pro than anyone else we've sent out there a near decade.
A 3rd round rookie from UConn has given us our best pass protection at LT in a decade. Wild to think about.
If he sits Peart now, he'd lose some credibility in the locker room IMO.

He might be able to just play both anyway. Unless Peart hasn't fully grasped the playbook, he should play (LT or RT) and sit flemming.

In fact, he said this repeatedly and made it a point of emphasis.

This would seem to be the right move to make.

Finally a little sanity!
