way to attack that defense is out. They are pretty soft up front. They fly around the football, but if you have a line that can maul they'll be in trouble.
saw a professional "qwataback" when he saw Allen play so he could have experienced "full bloom love".

but you have to take shots on Mahomes even if it costs you a penalty or two or three. He's absolutely made for this new NFL - great arm, great touch, great improviser, and is a better runner than you think...
His ability to make plays in crucial situation is otherworldy.
Dude is going to win multiple MVPs & Super Bowls. And he seems like a good dude so I don't care. Also, I have no beef towards the Chiefs. Good fan base.
is it about the NFL that you basically need an edict of law to get them to measure anything anymore. We were talking about that yesterday on how they wouldn't even respot the ball after the Allen lunge and measure. They just move the chains automatically.

Agree that McAdoo was right about Mahomes. But again, is Mahomes Mahomes if he's a Giant? He's got a great offensive mind in Reid, a ton of weapons, & a competent FO. We have none of those.

Look, McAdoo is an easy target. I get it.
But someone has to get credit for our last playoff year. And he was smart enough to know Eli was done and we needed to look to the future (i.e. Mahomes).
Unfortunately for McAdoo, he paid the ultimate price for those truths because no one above him wanted to hear them.

McAdoo rode a high priced defensive shopping spree and a career year from Beckham (until the playoffs) to 11 wins. He did a decent job that year. He also completely changed by year 2, proved himself to be a total clown and subsequently oversaw a locker room revolt/meltdown.
He was probably slightly better than Shurmur (that aint saying much) but much more of a douche.
His Patrick Mahomes "wisdom" hasn't lead to any other significant job since we canned him.

2017 was the perfect storm for failure - Eli was hitting the wall and we were overcome with injuries - Beckham, Marshall, Pugh, Westburg, etc - that significantly impacted the majority of the year.
Hell, our year ended with Shepherd and Roger Lewis as our leading WRs. So any momentum from 2016 was quickly cut short.
where they are officially the worst division in history. At this point like half the out of division games have happened in NFL and we have what 2 wins to show for it?
I have both QB’s my opponent has Hopkins. Super Flex league, 0.5 PPR, 1 point per 10 yards rushing or receiving, 4 points for QB passing TD, 6 points for any other TD. Currently I am leading by 3.7 points.
Cardinals deserve credit for moving off Rosen. Their offense is so much better.
They are very good. Unfortunately for them, they play in the best division in the NFL and may miss the playoffs with 9 or even 10 wins...despite the playoff expansion.
Steve Kiam deserves a lot of credit taking a chance with Kliff Kinsbury; and then the courage to draft Murray right after Rosen.
Eaglea going fucking down this Thursday. If a team with no fucking name beat them and we just beat that noname team then its a philly cheese steak thursday

Serious question because I don’t remember but were you this dead set against Jones last season? Was your mind made up by this past offseason?
My timeline with Jones was this:
1. Saw the Pro Days, I thought Jones was clearly the best non-Murray QB
2. Once Eli's bonus was paid, I said drafting a quarterback was stupid and made absolutely no sense
3. Some relief when it was Jones and not Haskins, but of course Gettleman fucked up resource allocation again; we ended up paying Eli $23M for 4 starts
4. I was encouraged early by Jones's play, and grew more and more concerned as the year went
5. This season my concern has grown into dread that we're tying any aspect of our future to him
It's all based on his play. He's got major flaws that aren't the kind of thing you coach out of a guy very often.

I don’t think McAdoo was a misunderstood genius by any measure— he clearly did a terrible job of leading, commanding respect, and holding the locker room together.
BUT I also don’t really buy the whole “rode a defensive shopping spree to the playoffs” narrative I always read on here. If all we had to do was empty the bank and buy a shiny new defense to become a playoff team again why haven’t we done that? Didn’t we have like $90M in cap room this past offseason? Wasn’t 2020 supposed to be “the year” where all our cap space was cleared to build an actual team? That cap $ ran out quick (although I like the signings we made) and it certainly hasn’t translated into a nice platinum one-hit wonder defense that Judge can sit back and ride to an easy 10-6 record.
I still think things fell apart incredibly fast in 2017. It felt at first like we were catching some bad breaks here and there and we stacked a few close one score losses... and everyone was freaking out and calling to clean house (including the media) and the players weren’t mentally strong enough to keep it out of their locker room. Mistrust was sewed so quickly and McAdoo didn’t have the balls to grab control of the whole thing and next thing we knew a few fireworks here and there turned into a full on dumpster fire out of nowhere. In retrospect it really was pretty amazing how quick everyone was to call 2016 a fluke and blow the whole thing up. It’s been 4 years and we haven’t sniffed a .500 season since.
There’s really no excuse not to win it. For as bad as the Giants have been the rest of the division is just as bad. Who wants it the most?
I actually think you may be right. The division is a complete abomination.
All of the excuses people make for why the Giants suck are irrelevant when you look at the rest of the division. Two teams are playing backup QBs the rest of the way and the other team is more injured than the Giants with roster holes outside of the injuries. Anyone can win this division. I think Philly wins it because they have a good staff/QB, but any team in the division can take it despite how shitty they’ve been to date.

Man bro you still on that blue pill. So what i say will go over year head like a chicken non believing we eating them but....Gentlemen sure as hell didnt sign Eli that was Mara decision and 2 Jones was chosen by the Manning family, its why Peyton and Eli was practicing at Duke every offseason....you dont see them going to any other colleges
Dak gone is only reason we have a chance, which is a win win for Gianrs. He will get a huge contract to eat there salary plus we shouldnt have to worry about them
If we’d won that stupid game. We’d be going into Thursday night with a chance to go 3-0 in the division with wins over all 3 teams and potentially a 2 game lead. Just it’s amazing to think about how close we were to having that opportunity.

Just a quick addendum to this. The injury bug hit big time heading into October...the offense got decimated.

To that point, we could have easily lost yesterday and been pretty much totally out of it.
We are where we are at this point. An extremely young team still trying to learn how to win in a not very good division. All you can do is try to look forward to Thursday night and hope they can keep building.
You could look at the boxscore and think, ehh, Kyler had a mediocre game. But he’s just made huge play after huge play with his legs and hit that back breaking bomb to C Kirk. The little guy is a baller.
I’m comforted knowing Dallas sucks balls and won’t be winning shit this year. Don’t see Philly doing anything of note either but they might have something to say later in the year if they can get healthier. Their OL sucks tho and won’t be better anytime this year.

A lot less stressful knowing that.
the entire NFC East is unbelievable garbage. Sure maybe the Eagles make the playoffs. Don't worry. They'll get squashed.
Zeke as much as anyone, but he's finally seeing what it is like to run behind a average to below average OL. Not many people thrive in that situation.
It also makes evaluating what he's lost pretty difficult
This cowboys line is putrid right now. Zach Marin got a concussion this game. No idea how to explain the fumbled, but anyone seeing that zeke lost a step is fooling themselves. I’ve watched every cowboys game this year When the line was average this year zeke was making yards on his own
This isn’t directed at you but pretty sick of all the morons around are that act like football isn’t a team sport and are entirely outcome dependent.
Outside of the fumbles Zeke is the same god damn player that wom a rushing title.

I agree. I'm continually baffled at how people ignore certain components of a team that have a direct impact on the skill positions, and then scream that the skill position player sucks.

Like how Jet fans think drafting Trevor Lawrence is somehow going to fix the 99 other things that ails them?

Doesn't that support the argument that more investment in o-line is better spent at helping average RBs produce better than putting more resources into RB than the OL?

Does it appear to you that Zeke has slowed down a bit? Or is that just what my heart wants to see? The dude has some major city miles on him.
In my eye, yes. He doesn't have the break away ability he once had. He can still do some pretty good damage in the 10-15 yard area, but he's not running away from anyone.
I think it's a combination of these (in order): natural wear and tear from all of his touches, he looks like he's lost his top fitness (his own fault), and the Dallas OL continues to be a patchwork solution almost week after week.
It's just the nature of that position, really. Diminishing returns just accelerate more quickly than any other position unless you are a freak like Peterson, Sanders, etc. I just think as a GM/Owner you have to be crazy to pay top dollar for RBs. You just don't get the ROI; and more often than not you are really paying for services rendered...
1st time I have actually watched him play since he was drafted. He is very similar to Lamar Jackson except noticeably smaller and I'm not sure as strong an arm, which is plenty strong enough. Maybe he is more like Russell Wilson with out the arm. IMV, he is better at producing with his legs vs his passing. The one bomb he threw was a beauty even if the catch was better than the throw - but still a very good throw. Not sure he is all that accurate as he missed several open receivers and had issues especially DeAndre Hopkins on his reads - it could have been Hopkins that made the mistakes.
He is fun to watch and he is smart enough to get what he can when he runs and get down long before he gets hit - very smart.
I came away feeling that he is in the wave of future QBs that the NFL will be looking for. Explosive runner, impossible to defend against with an arm just good enough to be effective. His style will be more easily replaced in case of injury as colleges will produce more of this style QB then your standard drop back QB. Watching him, I actually thought I was watching a college game. Mahomes and Wilson are the Gold Standard right now and Jackson could be with them, except he does not throw nearly as well.
He creates yards on the first and second level. Their line was so dominant and he was just fast enough to break away once he was in third level untouched.
BH28. Yes you build the team. The real investment in an elite RB is that it opens up the passing game and with a competent oline will put up video game numbers. Jesus just look at the numbers Saquon put up that year and then look at our other backs his rookie year. The diffference in YPC between an elite back and average is 1 yards plus. The real key in the NFL is try to be competent everywhere with 1 or 2 difference makers. Build an elite oline with no skill players what happens when you go up against an elite DL.
I will also say we shouldn’t be so fast to bury Dallas
Zeke fumbled on back to back drives leading to TDs. Sometimes a few plays just open up the flood gates in football games. Martin and Looney will be back soon. Of course with Dalton at QB the Cowboys fans are going to wish they had Garrett coaching this team but you’ll never get anyone to admit it. Of course based on my experience with them they are beyond bummed and even if they make playoffs they know they aren’t going anywhere. They went into this year thinking they were going to have a league leading offense with a solid defense to compete for the NFC crown at least. No chance this team does that

Agreed. He defies stat quantification a bit b/c he can throw like Uncle Rico for 1/2 the game, and then run for a 60 yard TD and throw an 80 yard TD while you are getting a beer. He’s the definition of explosive. At at 23, already learning to win in the NFL ... watch out.

Thanks, I’ll be here all week. Try the veal.
Nah, not fed....he wants to play for the Steelers now. Claims, "not happy" and "need new environment".
Gallup is the goods tho. He’s gonna be a long-term headache.
To be fair to Parry, that does sound like something McCarthy would try and do...

I have both QB’s my opponent has Hopkins. Super Flex league, 0.5 PPR, 1 point per 10 yards rushing or receiving, 4 points for QB passing TD, 6 points for any other TD. Currently I am leading by 3.7 points.
You’re back baby!!!!
Cardinals deserve credit for moving off Rosen. Their offense is so much better.

shhh.. the NFL is a quick rebuild league.. but we don't want the Giants front office to hear it.
Wait - wasn't it said earlier that if Dalton played here - he'd be 3-3?? Let's see if he lasts 6 games with Dallas and what his record is there
Kyler is one of those dudes who. just as you think, man, he’s inaccurate blah blah, he just explodes.

Our QB play has been so abysmal that yeah, an average vet would be a big improvement.
I actually think you may be right. The division is a complete abomination.

Serious question because I don’t remember but were you this dead set against Jones last season? Was your mind made up by this past offseason?

They are very good. Unfortunately for them, they play in the best division in the NFL and may miss the playoffs with 9 or even 10 wins...despite the playoff expansion.
Steve Kiam deserves a lot of credit taking a chance with Kliff Kinsbury; and then the courage to draft Murray right after Rosen.

He's got major flaws that aren't the kind of thing you coach out of a guy very often.

an all pro defense in an overspend by the GM was his ass on the coals. Sure that produced results for a year, but is a big reason we found ourselves where we are. Robbed Peter to pay Paul.

Of course, only on BBI is he looked at as an upgrade.
Dak gone is only reason we have a chance, which is a win win for Gianrs. He will get a huge contract to eat there salary plus we shouldnt have to worry about them

You won that one. Dalton looks like shit.

We can definitely use Shepard back!
Lol...yes we do
I said it earlier - just a dumb move by Jerry. I hope we don't make the same dumb mistake.

looking like a disaster for Dallas. Seems to be a theme in the NFL. The vast majority of big contracts handed out to RBs are a disaster for the team.

i think a torn acl made that decision for us..

Does it appear to you that Zeke has slowed down a bit? Or is that just what my heart wants to see? The dude has some major city miles on him.
It also makes evaluating what he's lost pretty difficult

I'll tell you one back that did. A few years during his prime Adrian Peterson faced 8 in the box regularly.
A lot less stressful knowing that.
Yeah, enjoying this.
Cards look very good though.

the entire NFC East is unbelievable garbage. Sure maybe the Eagles make the playoffs. Don't worry. They'll get squashed.

Zeke as much as anyone, but he's finally seeing what it is like to run behind a average to below average OL. Not many people thrive in that situation.

I agree. I'm continually baffled at how people ignore certain components of a team that have a direct impact on the skill positions, and then scream that the skill position player sucks.
Now the only question is if Zeke does the Feed Me when he scpres

Like how Jet fans think drafting Trevor Lawrence is somehow going to fix the 99 other things that ails them?

Doesn't that support the argument that more investment in o-line is better spent at helping average RBs produce better than putting more resources into RB than the OL?
Lol
This could get fun
This could get fun
The Eagles have a tough schedule.
Dallas does as well............
I don't see WASH rebounding.......
NYG could have a chance but just looks to be down too many playmakers on offense.

Agreed. He defies stat quantification a bit b/c he can throw like Uncle Rico for 1/2 the game, and then run for a 60 yard TD and throw an 80 yard TD while you are getting a beer. He’s the definition of explosive. At at 23, already learning to win in the NFL ... watch out.
