While I have some concern over Thomas' production, he looks good on plenty of plays. He seems very adept at ushering the rusher behind the QB and keeping him there so long as Jones doesnt move outside too quickly. He also seems very competent in the run game. But he is a rookie who is adjusting to a pro game after practically no offseason.
Conversely, Matt Peart has progressed far quicker than any of us expected. He looks mammoth and athletic so far. He has reach and footwork that is in the top percentile of LTs. I actually think he looks more like the LT of the future and Thomas a very fine RT.
Question is, if we get the 2nd overall, do you without question take the so-called "generational talent" (hate that phrase) in Penei Sewell with one of Thomas and Paert being relegated to the bench? Or do we go defense and try and get a playmaker like Micah Parsons or Greg Rousseau?
Im leaning towards the latter honestly. While its nice to have a Joe Thomas or Orlando Pace on your team, I have not heard Sewell compared to that. In fact, I have heard several analysts thinking of him like Wirfs...more suited to an ass kicker at Guard.
On the other hand, Pasons and Rousseau both have opted out. Ive heard Rousseau compared to Luke Kuechly (I know) or Anthony Barr and Parsons compared to Arik Armstead. We need playmakers on D at the 2nd level but we also need a pass rushing beast. I feel as though D is the way to go and I would lean towards a guy like Parsons whose brain and athleticism could have a Jaylon Smith like effect on the D (he was everywhere against us).
What say you?
This seems silly seeing as how neither Peart nor Thomas are built for Guard, have ayed there and have a higher trade valie as Tackles.
Yeah I’m not sure you can pass on him.
I am more on board with this over taking Sewell wjen we have Peart and Thomas. We need a playmaker at linebacker or EDGE. I really like the idea of Parsons honestly. I also think he is a safe pick coming from a school that produces strong LBs.
I would have to agree. Either that or trade down with the many teams that will be hot for Fields. The Giants could dictate where Fields plays while keeping him away from Washington.

Fields at #2.
Yeah I’m not sure you can pass on him.
I dont think he has looked like a world beater at all despite a top squad around him
Just have to prey he has some mental toughness
Weird comment being that the Giants used four picks on players who played in the Senior Bowl (Matt Peart, Darnay Holmes, Carter Coughlin, and TJ Brunson) and two were 7th round picks.

Gettleman making the pick it has to be someone playing in the Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl is like a Cliff's Notes to the draft and you really don't have to do that much scouting and analysis as long as you watch that game.

errr.. how about Daniel Jones, Will Hernandez, Deandre baker and others..

It's Producer....he produces nothing but shitty uninformed posts on a daily basis.
Yea, I dunno. Having smart, demon in the middle field is nice too. Kuechly, Patrick Willis, Bobby Wagner...those guys changed their defenses dramatically.
That's mighty tempting
Disclaimer - you take the best player
You are nuts. The biggest hole on this team is every offensive line position.
Don’t reach for need.
I won't reach for need, I'm looking ER but not inflexible.
Some of you dudes need to find something else to do once in awhile besides try to parse every word you read.
2. WFT- Sewell
Giants probably miss out on those 2 guys and the options are
QB Fields/Lance
WR Chase/Waddle
EDGE Patrick Jones (Pitt)
LB Michah Parsons
CB Surtain
Trade down
I prefer the Wide Receiver Chase from LSU or Parsons the Linebacker from Penn St. Either one would help.
If they trade down then Greg Rouseau from Miami at defensive end and a player like Wr. DeVonte Smith from Alabama

in the top 3-5.

Giants could have taken Wagner. They don’t value LB now even though you need them despite their draft stupidity being shown Over and over.
We aren’t drafting a quarterback. Let me repeat, we aren’t drafting a quarterback. You guys are wasting your own senseless breath with these threads.

if Danny Boy doesn't whip his ass into shape, we certainly might.
The right move at 2 would be Sewell.
I hear ya Jon, but Rousseau doesnt sound like a pass rushing demon. You dont think we need a 2nd level guy who can QB shifts and anticipate crossing patterns?
I dont know much aboyt Rousseau, if he was like JPP I would be all for it. But it doesnt sound like he is that.

Why? What do you see in him that is so special? He is not Joe Thomas, Walter Jones or Pace. Many think he might disappoint at Tackle and that he is more Steve Hutchinson. What iif we already have our starters at Tackle?
I would argue that our bigger problem is the middle of the field on 3rd down.

That said, if we're at #2, I do favor a trade down generally.
Quick thought on Fields, I'm skeptical based on what I've seen, however I need to see him a lot more than I have. Lance to me is not a consideration in the top 10 at all.
Now, edge makes a lot of sense, as does Ja'Marr Chase, who is an elite WR prospect.
Personally I like what they are getting from the defense right now, but the lack of offensive weapons on this team isn't going to work in today's NFL. They need guys that threaten a defense, Chase would really fit the bill.

Have heard a ton about Chase....havent watched much of him to be honest. Wouldnt have a problem with him either if he is a true 1 to pair with Slayton. Just apprehensive about a WR that high.
You mixed up your rousseau and parsons comps
You mixed up your rousseau and parsons comps
Ummm, no, I didnt. Roussaeu is 6'5 265 and plays with his hand in the dirt. Parsons is 6'3 245 and is a LB all the way.
How the fuck do you think losing out the next 10 games is preferable to playing a meaningful game in november? It's nauseating watching you assholes hoping we lose every game because you think it might help our draft position.
Consistently good teans pick low consistently and consistently bad teams pick high consistently. You assholes have been crying about last years win over Washington because of Chase Young and he was invisible yesterday. He was shut down by our 3rd round pick. Let's try to win some ganes, lets try to win the division. Aiming for the consolation prize is just fucking sad and pathetic.
