While I have some concern over Thomas' production, he looks good on plenty of plays. He seems very adept at ushering the rusher behind the QB and keeping him there so long as Jones doesnt move outside too quickly. He also seems very competent in the run game. But he is a rookie who is adjusting to a pro game after practically no offseason.
Conversely, Matt Peart has progressed far quicker than any of us expected. He looks mammoth and athletic so far. He has reach and footwork that is in the top percentile of LTs. I actually think he looks more like the LT of the future and Thomas a very fine RT.
Question is, if we get the 2nd overall, do you without question take the so-called "generational talent" (hate that phrase) in Penei Sewell with one of Thomas and Paert being relegated to the bench? Or do we go defense and try and get a playmaker like Micah Parsons or Greg Rousseau?
Im leaning towards the latter honestly. While its nice to have a Joe Thomas or Orlando Pace on your team, I have not heard Sewell compared to that. In fact, I have heard several analysts thinking of him like Wirfs...more suited to an ass kicker at Guard.
On the other hand, Pasons and Rousseau both have opted out. Ive heard Rousseau compared to Luke Kuechly (I know) or Anthony Barr and Parsons compared to Arik Armstead. We need playmakers on D at the 2nd level but we also need a pass rushing beast. I feel as though D is the way to go and I would lean towards a guy like Parsons whose brain and athleticism could have a Jaylon Smith like effect on the D (he was everywhere against us).
What say you?
Def not the biggest hole on the team. It’s the putrid offensive line. Our defense is playing very well and if you had an offense that can hold onto the ball and sustain drives our defense would look that much better. Graham, like BB doesn’t value the top tier pass rusher. The pats let those guys walk. We need offensive lineman it’s clear as day. Worst tackles in the nfl. We can run. We can’t pass protect but let’s get an edge rusher! Or like others want a WR! Is jerry Reese still drafting?
One could argue that WR was not high on our need list when we drafted OBJ. There were other glaring needs including OL at that time.

You mixed up your rousseau and parsons comps
Ummm, no, I didnt. Roussaeu is 6'5 265 and plays with his hand in the dirt. Parsons is 6'3 245 and is a LB all the way.
Ummm YES you did swap their names out at the central paragraph in the first post when you wrote up their characteristics.
Proofread better.
Even those who prefer that we trade down would likely not like what we got in return even if we did find a dance partner (not easy to do).
That being said, there’s still plenty of season left for them to lose their way back into contention for #1 (I fully expect losses the next 2 times this team takes the field vs Philly and Tampa)..the Jets need to fluke their way into a win though...that’s the hard part....
This. This is a huge question and I hope the team has an unbiased evaluation at QB.

Most teams prioritize pass rush talent ahead of OL talent, and you already got your tackles they're going to run with for now.
Keep your uniformed snark to yourself.
He’s opted out of the PAC 10 season I believe. His next snap will he in the NFL.

PAC 12
With that said, this team has to add players with better Pass Rush skills. Doesn't matter to me if it's from the Draft, free agency, or by trading Leonard Williams for it.
They are simply not getting off the field on third down no matter what QB we are facing.
Pass rusher...Must have.
I think with how deep these WR classes have been lately you could hope to take EDGE in the 1st and still get a great WR in the 2nd - look at the Steelers with Claypool.
If Rousseau is best player on their draftboard at their pick, or close to it, great. Players like him that are opting out will be a bit interesting. A lot of the top guys that the Giants could be eyeing in Sewell, Rousseau, and Chase, have opted out. Will be interesting to see if any of the players have been effected by the year and a half off of competitive football.
Ideally, I'd love to sign a player like Dupree in FA, so that pass rusher is not an absolute need in the draft.
Some of you dudes need to find something else to do once in awhile besides try to parse every word you read.
I understand that can be annoying. I tend to do this, but I value saying what one means lacking exaggerations which to me clouds the conversation.
At this point I think we might be better off going with a vet FA to do the job, and there figure to be a bunch on the market.
How the fuck do you think losing out the next 10 games is preferable to playing a meaningful game in november? It's nauseating watching you assholes hoping we lose every game because you think it might help our draft position.
Consistently good teans pick low consistently and consistently bad teams pick high consistently. You assholes have been crying about last years win over Washington because of Chase Young and he was invisible yesterday. He was shut down by our 3rd round pick. Let's try to win some ganes, lets try to win the division. Aiming for the consolation prize is just fucking sad and pathetic.
The consistently good teams have this thing called talent, that's why they're consistently good. The way to get talent cheaply is through the draft. The best talent is usually found at the top.
Yes there's going to be talent in every round, but I don't have enough faith in DG to find it. So if the only appreciably difference between 1 win and 3 or 4 wins is draft position, I'll take the 1 win 10 out of 10 times. Once the build a talented core the draft matters much less, and they can hopefully be one of those consistently good teams
Bad teams now who need QB
Jax, Den, Atl, Was, Min,
Plus you have Det, Car and maybe SF and NE Who may look
Houston is bad but have a QB
I am very hesitant taking the edge rusher from MIa who played 14 career games. If no trade, get the OL and figure out who plays where. Zack Martin is almost 6-5 who played LT and moved inside. Brandon Scherff is also 6-5 and playing G who played T
