He knows McCarthy's system from his days with McAdoo. It's not gonna happen, but how would you feel if it did?
p.s.--I didn't realize Nolan was Dallas's D-coordinator but I'm pleased as punch at the news and completely unsurprised by the results. Every time his name is mentioned for a job with the Giants are march out my litany of issues I had with the guy from his days with Big Blue and the year he left (trashing the talent on the Giants defense as if he was trying to make chicken salad out of chicken shit when he had Strahan, Armstead, and Sehorn, among others, to work with. Fox came along and showed us how it's done. Nolan sucked then, he sucks now. I hope the Cowboys stick with him at least until the end of the year. No way they stick with him beyond that.
How did 49ers fans FEEL when Joe Montana tried to keep it going with KC?
If there's a good payday in it for Eli, I'd be happy for him, although it would make me a little sad to see him trying to overcome the calendar, which never lies.
There's no crying in football.
:-)
This. Eli's a dad to four kids in a home no doubt coping with the pandemic like everyone else, including hybrid schooling or however they're doing it in Summit at the moment. He's set financially for life. He's going to move to Dallas and risk life and limb for the money or the glory of the Cowboys, leaving his wife to cope with the family situation in NJ during COVID? A complete non-starter.
Their OL is in tatters and their highly over-priced defense is a sieve.
This.
When you mic drop your retirement ceremony with that line, you don’t come back to play in Dallas.
Dallas has much bigger things to worry about than Dalton.
p.s.--When Eli was first drafted, the NY Post did their usual introductory Q&A with him. His favorite song?...

It's a truly nice feeling to know that you've done all you could have hoped and was well deserved by Eli. I don't see why he would want to come back.

HE said that when the Giants were beating their asses in every game that counted from 2005-2011, not the older, beaten up Eli. You're really grasping at straws here man.

It would be a little different than Mpntana's situation, he not only changed divisions, he switched conferences! Imagine if he went to LAR.
I think Eli has moved on, but I wouldn't begrudge him if he decided to give it another try. I'd just have to root for him to lose.
I don't want to see it because I love Eli and would hate for him to go out like that.
But how would I feel? I doubt I would feel anything.
How about Brett Huntley? He was just in Dallas yesterday with the Cardinals.
Can’t relate to this. But I think there are quite a few here who were bigger Eli fans than Giants.
It means something to me that Eli only played for the Giants. I'm sentimental in that aspect...same for Strahan.
Since Eli never suffered a serious injury, it’s not clear why he would be “cooked” when the other HoF-worthy QBs of his generation are still winning. His supporting cast since 2012 was big factor, but Rivers played for some awful teams too. Roethlisberger and Rodgers have also taken a beating at times (always making sure to let us know how bad it was - something Eli never did).
I suspect Eli could still perform pretty close to his 2014-2018 level, but he doesn’t seem interested, and I’m not sure the 2014-2018 Eli would be much of an asset.
I actually was hoping Eli would sign on somewhere with a decent roster looking to make a playoff push. I honestly believed and still do, that he was not done. Was he diminished? Yes, as all aging players are to some degree. But, playing with the worst OL I can remember seeing (including the horrendous OL of the mid-90s) and no running game and 1 WR was not doing him any favors or allowing us to accurately judge him. Granted, a younger, more mobile QB can do some things to counter that to an extent, which is why we moved on. That's fine. But, with a good OL and a decent supporting cast, I think Eli could have led a team to the playoffs and for me that would have been fun to watch.

What do the Giants in the 80s that I grew up watching have to do with the current team? Not even their uniform or helmets are the same.
And let me ask you this -- would you still be a Giants fan if colin Kapernick wa s on the team? I doubt I could cheer for that loser.
How is Rivers doing in Indianapolis, by the way? I have not seen one pass by Rivers wearing a Colt jersey yet. I'm a lazy slug when it comes to the rest of the NFL.
"That OL?"
What OL? Have you even a minor footnote somewhere about the Cowboys' OL this year?
And the highly praised WR trio of Cooper, Lamb and Gallup have yet to perform at the level of Nicks, Cruz and Manningham... when it matters.
Jones just plays like that because that is what defenses give him and play cover 2.
Never mind that Kyle Allen last week was able to put together a game tying TD drive -- including a 25 yard passes over the middle-- to get in Giants territory, and the Giants played cover 2.
Like who was he able to throw deep in cover 2 and Jones cannot?
I don't know if they are playing cover 2 on Kyle Allen's 30 yard TD throw.
damn autofill
He's a smart guy and well advised. He's rich, healthy, has a nice family and has all his marbles and body parts. Smart decision.
Exception being Junior Seau. They kept showing him in that SB in '07 yet the guy was invisible on the field.
All the little hotties who come into the bars and ask "Are you watching the Patriots " ..."Are you watching the patriots"...."Are you watching the patriots"? one after the other. Eli and hotties! I would be in heaven
