The Giants are now 8-1 to win NFC East

Zeke's Alibi : 10/20/2020 2:54 pm
Thought I'd put this out there. Boys even money and Eagles +150 and the WFT is 9-1.

I'd imagine that will drop to 2-1 with a win. Kinda wish I threw more on them at 40-1 before that Boys game.

These numbers already have the fact that Eagles are 6 pt favorit goin into Thrusday so even with a loss they'll probably onlly drop to 12-1 or so.

You'd have to be a degenerate

We can actually win the NFC East at 4-12

538 did an evaluation of the NFC East's patheticness

Quote:
Here’s a scenario that happened only once in 50,000 simulations: the Giants winning the division with a 4-12 record. To make it happen, the Eagles and Cowboys would need to go a combined 3-19 down the stretch, while the Giants go 4-7 and Football Team goes 3-8. The Giants and Football Team would then finish the season tied with identical 4-12 records, and they would have split the season series as well, but New York wins the division on the intra-divisional record tiebreaker with its three other wins coming against the Eagles (Weeks 7 and 10) and Cowboys (Week 17). It’s exceptionally unlikely, but as a subset of all the Giants’ division-winning simulations — only 2,608 in total, out of 50,000 — it’s actually more probable than our final doomsday scenario.

I bet them today at +800 to make the playoffs

If they can just stop hurting themselves they can make it by attrition and good coaching.

Nobody. I've been living in the real world this entire time and not joining in baseless optimism.

I'm right there with you. Just no way in hell I'm putting money down on the Giants to make the playoffs.
Only put a couple bucks
Go Terps : 10/20/2020 4:03 pm : link
But even if I were a serious bettor I'd look at them at 8-1. Their actual odds are probably closer to 4-1/5-1.

Its an unusual bet, but this year you can "bet against the field" in the NFCE because the field stinks!!!

Its more that, than betting ON THE GIANTS.

IF the team can stumble forward to 7-9, they can take the division.

Honestly, I thought Rivera would get more out of the WFT's defensive front 7...

I had a strong feeling McCarthy would (and still will) bomb in Dallas.
8-1 is easy money

whoever can pull their heads ever so slightly out of their own ass first. Dallas is a train wreck and Washington isnt going to improve either. Either Wentz gets it together or the Giants come together and gel. And Im clearly insane, but I think the latter is more likely. You can make the case that the Giants are a safer bet to improve after a rough start/protracted offseason under a new coach. Meanwhile the other teams are all in a tailspin. Dallas is dead in the water. Washington is Washington. The Eagles are floundering despite moderately high expectations and an entrenched staff, with questions about Wentz popping up again.

Stay the course, continue the gradual improvement, and eke out the division at 7-9. Its completely possible.

They will also move about 14 slots down in the draft.

Not worth it, if you ask me.

IT almost a certainty the division winner

will have a losing record. But, there is a decent chance that the "winner" will not even come close to 7-9.
I get the feeling with finish tied for 6 wins with Eagles but they

Get the nod because of their stupid tie. Sometimes the headlines just write themselves.

I've given that a lot of thought and it's very tight. This is the path I possibly see...

This is the right time to get the Eagles because they are absolutely crushed with injuries. It's unbelievable - basically 3 OLs, 3 starting WRs (maybe DJax will return Thursday), starting TE and starting RB. So that's the second win just based on pure attrition...

At Washington, this is another 50/50 game; but since we have actually owned them of late, let's assume we keep that going. That's the third win.

At Bengals. This is not a 50/50 game to me because I think Cincinnati is very competitive and on the verge of being a very formidable offense. So I give them a 60/40 edge. But let's be optimistic and say we actually win one on the road. Four.

Browns at home. I could see the Browns also needing this game to stay in the playoff hunt, especially because they play the Ravens the week prior. Join me in seeing Mayfield choke and this being a costly, costly loss for the Browns... ;) So five...

Then the season ends at home vs Dallas. Classic revenge game. We take down the Red Ragarm. Six.

How's that?... :)

I can't see all of those games breaking for us. First, I agree about this week. But, we are not good enough to assume a win over any team, injuries or not. I don't see them beating Cincy because they won't be able to keep up with them on offense.

I don't feel great about the Browns game. It is certainly a winnable game. But as much a chance I see of Mayfield choking and OBJ imploding trying to burn the Giants, I can also see OBJ exploding on them. The saving grace is their D is not great.

As for the remaining games in the division, I view them all as 50/50 propositions. If Dallas needs that game for the division, I think it diminishes our odds.
Just beat Philly..

I don’t care if the Eagles are pulling people off broad street to play, go into the Linc on a short week and win.

Do that, and I’ll take notice.
Consider that if not for an onside kick and the Giants' congenital

late game defensive collapse, America's team would be winless. And maybe it's just as well, otherwise they'd be in the running for Trevor.
