I feel good they are heading in the right direction.

The coaches are teaching (see recent cowboy news).

Another god forbid, The OL actually improving!!!

The defense getting better!!!

during non-game days, I look at the long term situation and do worry if any mild success will be detrimental. (Possibly missing out on Trevor Lawrence).

During the game, once kick off happens, I can't do it. I can't find any solace in the Giants losing or seeing Jones turn the ball over. I, want so badly, for him to be the guy but I am starting to become concerned.
I think we'll see the Giants
JonC : 10/21/2020 10:03 pm : link
match up a little better against the Eagles' offense, but these games always come down to line play, where the Eagles dominate. And along with it typically more bounces go their way, not to mention the confidence and swagger. It pisses me off.

Eagles offensive line is beat up, Wentz is running for his life constantly..

Eagles defensive line has been bad against the run, no malik jackson is a big loss for them..

Agreed this is a game Williams, Lawrence and Tomlinson can dominate in

optimist but I'm not going to say I feel good for a second given our history vs. Philly. But this is certainly a game that we can win given the injuries Philly has dealt with. I am optimistic that we can put things together and I absolutely want to see a win just for this team's overall confidence getting two wins in a row and being very much alive in the division race. And for Judge, because I do love him thus far and I feel like he is creating a new culture, but the wins are what cement that culture. I think if we won perhaps we could look back at this game as maybe the beginning of closing the door on this crappy era of Giants football. Please god let us beat these stinking Eagles.

But... if gun to my head and had to predict the game, I would guess we lose in a heartbreaking fashion as that is and has been the Giants way for a bit now. I truly despise Garrett so far, the offense and Jones has taken a step backwards and I think it strongly falls on Garrett's shoulders. The horrible route concepts, the lack of any deep passing game (which obviously is Jones' strength), and the play-calling inspires no confidence. I think if we got out to an early 10-14 point lead, I would bet money that we would squander it. And the lack of aggression on 4th and short in plus territory throughout this season has been worrisome and I think that's the only thing I've been disappointed in Judge in, it's a different day in football and playing not to lose is not the way to win.

I really, really want Garrett to be one and done. If you look at what Joe Brady has done down in Carolina with their offense to get them to 3-3, it makes me yearn for a young offensive mind that understands the game today.

The thing about losing a bunch of OL to injuries isn't just that you have worse players on the field but they have no chemistry and very few in game reps. We have big men upfront that can over power them but Graham likes to run exotic blitz screens that can even confuse a cohesive vetern line. Expect 3-4 sacks from CBs, LBs, and safeties. Even if our "rushers" don't get home.

You act like he hasn't been doing that. He even ran for it in the red zone. Aside from that TD and a couple of decent passes ; his only plays were on runs against WFT. They came up short in the red zone and had to kick a little chip shot field goal after a 15 yard run . Hard for me to fathom a guy who cannot pass in the NFL. A pro league! Either the league has become Bush league or this QB is bush league. This whole look-to-run is a college QB technique for QBs who can't pass with accuracy beyond 10 yards ... SGMen : 10/22/2020 7:11 am : link
turnover battle +2. The OL has been improving, especially Gates. We must run well tonight to keep the pressure off of D. Jones and our weak contingent of receivers.

I also believe if Shepard is effective, we will move the ball a bit better. Slayton must be close to 100% as well if we are to generate offense.

And for the love of God, when will Engram's speed be used by creating situations on their LB's that give him a seam to catch & run. I know Engram is likely GONE afer this year along with Solder, Tate, Zeitler but if he could just make that big catch and run tonight to keep those safeties honest it would be a big boon and help us get a win.

I want to win this division at 6 - 10. Washington is on par with us but I think D. Jones is a better QB so we ar better, if even by a point. I think I sense mutiny in Dallas. Philly is the top contender despite their offensive injuries. If we win tonight, and even if its by 1 lucky point, we are right in the race and can get three more division wins and perhaps beat Cincy?

6 - 10 can win this division, get us a playoff game and some positive motivation for the off-season. Just a real shame we lost Barkley cause with him we have some offense but without him we can be contained by good D's, which Philly is a good defense still, very well coached. Let hope D. Jones doesn't turn it over while Wentz forces a few bad ones.
I feel like this will be similar to all our games except for SF
mfsd : 10/22/2020 7:14 am : link
Giants will come out ready to play, and be competitive for a while. In the end, I think we probably give up a few too many plays on defense, can’t finish in the red zone, and lose a close one.

In other words, sticking with this seasons formula

Agree with this. Always root for a win by the Giants but no longer expect a win--no matter who the opponent. The stats tell me the Giants should be competitive, but I cannot help but feel they will help another banged up team get well quickly in a loss that will not be close.

MS you seem VERY down about the game and though I will feel the same if your score prediction comes true(BLECH,please no!) if they trade DT then we hopefully get a draft pick or two. I think that even winning the division at this point isn't a great thing. They'd most likely get destroyed in the playoffs and your draft slot is worse. Lets look to this game for a step in the right direction. Play em tough like we always do and lose on a last second field goal like 3 of the last 4 against them. I think if thats the case we beat them in 3 or 4 weeks when we play them again and I think the same will happen when we meet Dallas. Play tough.

Jim in Forest Hills : 10/22/2020 8:27 am : link
I think the path to victory lies in Jones playing an excellent game (even with a TO which I expect). If he can take this offense and convert in the red zone, they have a chance. The Eagles for all their issues, still have the pass rush. Honestly that is the difference in this game.

I hate Dallas...but love them compared to the eagles. I don't care if it takes a bad ref call to win the game, we need to win this game for a multitude of reasons. The only saving grace I can feel, is that the coaching staff and many of the players are so new that they don't feel the losing streak like former players or Giant fans. We as fans, have been living through this eagle losing streak too long; getting pounded, us making a terrible mistake, or them getting a miracle play or field goal...this has to end. Now is as good a time as any. (My only game two-cents is that I would like to see Jones run a bit more whether it is bailing out of the pocket, or a designed play.) Go Giants!

More. Obviously. The passing game has clearly been terrible. You don't have WRs getting open or playing consistent football at all. The offensive line is deeply inconsistent and might soon be featuring two rookie tackles. It doesn't matter if you don't like the look and feel of it as a product. This is the 31st ranked offense in a league of 32 teams. They have 1 win but might somehow have an opportunity to win a division. Find something that works and use it.

It's good to feel like there's an important game to look forward to, at least. But yeah, we've fallen for this before.

We need Garrett to get his head out of his ass for this one. Get Jones out of the pocket, and get him running the football himself.

If we stand Jones up in the pocket scanning the field, the eagles are going to get a defensive touchdown.

I immediately turn college games like that off. It's boring. Hopefully what John Gruden did against the Chiefs last Sunday sowed he had the winning ticket and we can get back to good football again.

What?

What part of that wasn't clear?

Comment: "Garret should get Jones running more with designed runs"

Answer: HE HAS BEEN. JONES HAS BEEN RUNNING THE BALL A LOT WITH DESIGNED RUNS.

How many times do you want Jones to run with it?

More.

What does winning the division have to do with it?

You are not seriously looking at a play off run with these Bush leaguers?

What would be the point of the clubbing that this team is going to get against the 49ers or Packers or whoever?

You said it yourself this offense stinks. And the defense is not much better.

I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and hard place on this one.

I hate the Eagles - like a lot.

The Giants HAVE to start winning games against them, just to reshape the mindset and culture of losing against them.

At the same time, every win keeps the Giants closer to keeping the front office intact. Which, I believe is a bad thing.

Yuck.
Feel good?

No! The offense sucks. I thought it was a great idea to have Garrett as an OC since he’s helped two Young quarterbacks be good early in Dak and Romo but looks like Danny is somewhat regressing under Garrett and it’s given me second thoughts
Giants are 4.5 underdogs
armstead98 : 10/22/2020 10:05 am : link
That converts to winning chances about 1 out of 3. That line feels about right to me.

Not massive underdogs but also not likely they win.

I'll be rooting for them though. We need to see better oline play and the defense needs to be dialed in.
I'm feeling good

Not necessarily saying we will win because Eagles are the more talented team. But I expect us to compete and see it as winable. If we get blown out I would be surprised and won't be shocked to see us get the W, though not necessarily predicting it.

Regardless of what I think, clearly they are trying to win games. If you're about winning, then you have to identify any way possible to get something out of this offense and do it till someone stops it.

it's baffling to me when fans scoff at winning the division even if we have a shitty record. Fuck yeah I want to win the division, we've been a doormat against Dallas and Philly for way too long now. Something has to change. And, anything can happen in the playoffs. Odds are the winner of the NFC East will get bounced by a superior team, but it's bullshit to say they wouldn't be able to win. Look at Seattle against the Saints that one year. It happens.
