As is the case with Engram and Peppers. Can the Giants get out of the 5th year option with Evan Engram after already picking it up the previous offseason?
Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of picking up the option?
Is that releasing either player after the year means they won't count in the compensation formula should they sign for meaningful money elsewhere. Had they not picked up the option, they would've qualified.

Water under the bridge at this point. Engram needs to go before he gets hurt.
Why did we pick up the 5th year option? He missed half of last year.

we are stuck with the rot for another year unless somebody wants to trade for them.

Because we were betting on both Engram and Peppers having big seasons
You can "rescind" or cut the player and owe them nothing.

Gettlemam thinks they are assets.
Simple as that.

This. As long as Engram doesn't get hurt, the Giants can cut him.
