have to shake the OL up

Platos : 10/23/2020 2:31 am
lots of reasons we lost but with the game on the line will hernandez gets called for holding and then we let jones get sacked with 6 man protection on a 4 man rush. got sacked from his right side too of all places.

in 07 we moved diehl to LT and i thought it would be a disaster but it worked out in the long run. the whole line played better.

fleming isn't a starter. Thomas is having trouble on the left side. i don't care if he was drafted high we need to see Peart at LT and Thomas at RT. the move could possibly strengthen 2 positions.

Gates who never played center is playing better than the 2 guards next to him who have been guards forever. Time to see where lemieux fits in be it left or right guard.

the sooner we work out this line the better because giving up pressure on a 4 man rush with a back in to block is pitiful.
I will say this over and over

Andrew Thomas is going to get someone killed, he needs to be benched for his mental health and for the safety of our Qb and RBs. There is nothing wrong with hitting the reset button on a rookie and starting over. He needs it. Bring in Peart, find a guy off the street, just give him some time to start over.

he's shown some good things along with the bad. for a staff that preaches versatility we really should check him out at the right side this week in practice.
Thomas has been hot garbage, and
Silver Spoon : 10/23/2020 4:47 am : link
he’s getting worse each week. Eric Flowers showed more promise as a rookie.
If you wait long enough Thomas will be good

At RG
I will use 1988 as the example again

Eric Moore drafted in rd 1 was to be the LT and Jumbo Elliott rd 2 was to be the RT. Elliott against Too Tall Jones struggled so Doug Riesenberg was put in at Rt. Elliott later in the season was moved to LT and Moore became at swing T/G. The Giants need the more athletic Peart at LT and the bigger (weight wise) but less gifted Thomas at RT or even G eventually. If Thomas got beat one way you can fix that but he gets beat inside, outside, with speed and with power. I mean he is perfect on how he gets beat!
Moving Thomas to RT won't fix his awful technique
Rick in Dallas : 10/23/2020 7:23 am : link
He plays like he is on roller skates. His hand punch is probably the worse in football. His setup is just plain awful.
He will only be bringing his shit show to the right side.
He needs to be benched based on performance. One can only imagine what is going on in his head. He has no confidence whatsoever.
This is a very telling time for the HC with respect to players play based on performance.
And how is it...
Giant John : 10/23/2020 7:31 am : link
The Giants did not see these issues before they drafted Thomas? What was it then? These mistakes are “coachable? Well then get them coached up. This is on DG and our new coach. I hope our press people take them to task.
This is a great thread with all

You should be asking those questions about Thomas to DG and our crackerjack scouting department.
We should ask Nate Solder what he’s thinks...
Spider56 : 10/23/2020 7:54 am : link
My heart goes out to him and his family and I pray for their health.

But if not for covid, Solder is starting at LT and Thomas cuts his teeth on the right side.
I would bring in Peart at left tackle
nygiants16 : 10/23/2020 8:08 am : link
Move Thomas to Right, Lemexieu in at right guard, trade Zeitler if you can. I am sure someone is looking for a right guard for a 5th or 6th round pick..

Let the young guys grow
The Hernandez call
Beer Man : 10/23/2020 8:47 am : link
happened at the worst time, but given that we are 7 games into the season and that is the first penalty called against him, I think we can cut him a little slack.

I disagree. As poor as he’s been, he’s struggling with quicker faster guys setting him up on his inside move. DEs on that side can’t really use that on right handed QBs because they see it and easily escape pocket. I’m starting to think Peart at LT and AT at right tackle is the future.
I think we need 4 pair of handcuffs...

chain these mother fuckers together and then MAYBE nobody can slip between them

Seems like you'd be happier getting your Giants fix exclusively from Paul Dottino.
I have the exact opposite reaction.
cosmicj : 10/23/2020 11:02 am : link
The Giants need to start the three rookies over the next few weeks and then maintain stability so the personnel group starts to be familiar with each other. Good offensive lines are more than the sum of their parts.

So exactly the opposite of Platos' point.

Some of the worst draft picks in team history in the last 10 years have been unfinished products they thought they could "fix" with coaching. Flowers. James Brewer.
