Rumors regarding the GM position, trade candidates, etc.

Affirmation : 10/23/2020 7:50 am
I'm honestly not sure how reliable many on here regard the Twitter account 'Unnamed NFL Source' but some seem to give it a lot of credibility. Either way I thought this would be worth sharing but as I mentioned I really do not know how reliable they truly are. After the game they did a lengthy video on Twitter discussing mostly what is happening with the New York Giants.

They mentioned that Dave Gettleman will be relieved from his duties as General Manager and that could even be as soon as this season. Also that they expect the next hire to most likely be Kevin Abrams but to obviously not rule out an outside hire such as Nick Caserio. Apparently Kevin Abrams is a "progressive thinker" unlike Dave Gettleman and was actually on board with the decision to move on from Eli Manning when it was proposed under Jerry Reece.

There’s always a possibility that Abrams becomes an excellent GM
The_Boss : 10/23/2020 7:54 am : link
But given this stretch of horrible decisions made by John Mara these last 8 years or so, does hiring Abrams install any confidence in this nightmare ending anytime soon?
See i dot believe Most rumors in twitter

I do not think DG would have gotten the job unless he told them he coud win with Eli. Other wise they would gave drafted a qb his first year.
If it’s Kevin Abrams
jeff57 : 10/23/2020 7:58 am : link
Might as well keep Gettleman. Only someone from the outside can fix this mess.
Kevin Abrams is a fucking accountant.
Optimus-NY : 10/23/2020 8:03 am : link
Chris Mara will be the one making decisions and telling the accountant what to do. Hell the NO to Abrams.
These aren’t really rumors
Saquads26 : 10/23/2020 8:04 am : link
They are the two known top candidates and are both blatantly obvious. Caserio makes a lot of sense, sign me up

Not much here
HoodieGelo : 10/23/2020 8:05 am : link
It could be Abrams, but it could also be an outside hire. Also, it could happen before the end of the season. Just a lot of “coulds”. Well no duh. Seems very asshat to me
Just for context.

There is more 'information' stated in the actual video that I didn't put in the initial post.
They can’t sell Abrams to the fans. It’s impossible.

They need to hire someone who has never been in the building before.
I will totally lose it if they make Abrams the GM
Rick in Dallas : 10/23/2020 8:32 am : link
Please, please hire someone with no ties to this organization.
Reeks of speculation, not rumor

I think reports of Gettleman's demise are premature. General Managers are in the business of being wrong more than they're right when it comes to accumulating talent. In the draft, first day picks have a high bust rate no matter the consensus, second day picks are more likely to become role players than starters, and most third day picks are lucky to get second contracts at the veteran minimum. When it comes to free agency, the A-list difference-makers that somehow make it to the open market are always overpaid (it's the nature of supply and demand) and even the B-list talent is overpriced as well. And then there are the injuries that can make the most well-thought out moves backfire terribly.

So it's easy to sit back and point out Gettleman's whiffs, but my philosophy is to judge a general manager not by how many they get wrong, but how many they get right. And with so much young talent on the team, it's too early to tell. Judge may be here, but the jury is out. I'm still quite hopeful.
This guys Twitter page - clearly just a Giants fan who is acting

Like he has some insider information. Sounds like a kid. If you are duped by this guy I don’t know what to tell you. Honestly, this is the second time someone has posted his garbage here

I honestly don't know anything about the account, whether it has any legitimacy or not. I figured I would post it to see if anyone on here knew given so many elsewhere vouch for it. I don't necessarily buy into what is being stated in that video either, I just found it intriguing given what is said.

Judge wants to work with DG, or Abrams and his staff. Possible exception someone he has worked with at New England. The Giants are not going back to old model of GM being top dog.
Other..
FatMan in Charlotte : 10/23/2020 9:04 am : link
people vouch for it?? I've yet to see any reputable source pick up this feed and re-tweet it.
Relieved as soon as this season?
HomerJones45 : 10/23/2020 9:06 am : link
So, the test as to whether the cap guy can be the GM is that he was willing "move on" from Eli Manning so we could overdraft in a weak qb draft?

JFC. This franchise is not only deserving of what it is going through; it begs for it. This is the kind of dopey shit that went on from 1964 until Rozelle convinced George Young to come.

I agree wholeheartedly.

But I’ll be stunned if it’s not Abrams. Mara just can’t help himself.
Sounds like a lot of regurgitation

of stuff we've even put here on the forum.

That tends to happen when the same problems show up time after time.
Caserio makes the most sense,
Section331 : 10/23/2020 9:48 am : link
given that he worked with Judge. Not that the ST coach necessarily worked closely with the acting GM, but I would assume they had some kind of relationship.

Who knows if Abrams would be a good hire, but given the state of this franchise, it could be a suicidal one. I give John Mara a ton of shit, but I think even he'd be aware enough to realize the optics of promoting from within for a team that has more than 6 wins once in 7 seasons. And if he wasn't that aware, Steve Tisch will be sure to remind him.

The point being not seeing anything that suggests actual insider knowledge.
