What is the deal with this guy. I know we picked him up from the Raiders PS. He basically committed two personal fouls in two minute (the second one wasn’t called but it would have been it Ballentine didn’t lead with the helmet).
is pure bullshit. I know the rules says the defender is presumed guilty, but WTF is he expected to do? He went down to tackle Jackson, who went down to defend himself. There are penalties and then there are real penalties. I'm sorry I just don't see that as a penalty. What is supposed to do, just let Jackson by? Yes there are targeting penalties. But that was just two players reacting.
And yes Harper's could/should have been a penalty late hit, which is what I thought was the penalty.

He led with his helmet. If he had kept his head up, I would agree with you, but he put his head down and led with the crown. It's going to get called, and players have to adjust. It was bang-bang, but if he keeps his head up, I think he would have been fine. They probably would have thrown the flag on Harper though, it was a late hit.
RE: He's trying to make an impact play to win a job
Tend to agree. I'm sure the coaches will talk to him about it. Let's see what happens going forward. I'm certainly not saying he has a future with the team, but we'll know more as the season progresses. Calls to cut him are presumptuous.
RE: RE: He's a total rookie thats barely been with the team.
So you get to take two dumb penalties. It’s not the first time he has played football, I assume?

Agree ... I saw it the same way.

I'm not saying he "gets to". He's a late round pick who doesn't even know what he's doing out there. He might not even be an NFL player.
