What you want to see for the rest of the year?

nygiants16 : 10/23/2020 9:06 am
This is not a tanking thread, this is not a doom and gloom thread, this is what you want to see setting up next year.

I want to see Jones build off of last night, keep playing the way he did last night.

I want to see the young guys on the offensive line to grow and get better and be plqying best by the end of the season.

Defensively i want to see cobtinued improvement, i want to see when Mckinney comes back how this secondary starts to gel..

Gettleman fired

Accumulation of as many picks as they can get. Having 5 picks in this upcoming draft is a disgrace.
Closing games
Biteymax22 : 10/23/2020 9:09 am : link
The team needs to start closing out games it can win. Learn to do that and next year we'll talk about stealing one's we shouldn't win.

Competitive football and as many wins as possible

but more than anything I'd like Judge to take this opportunity after last night to be more assertive within this organization.

What's done is done with Reese (for the few guys he still owns on this roster) and Gettleman. The future is Joe Judge.

The following players should be worried about their starting jobs, special teams roles or even their spot on this roster.

Evan Engram, Corey Ballentine, Ryan Lewis, Madre Harper, Andrew Thomas
Gettleman shown the door.
SirLoinOfBeef : 10/23/2020 9:12 am : link
Engram traded or just plain cut. Sit Thomas and play Peart. Williams, Peppers traded by the deadline.
I look to Miami last year..
Sean : 10/23/2020 9:12 am : link
That team also is coached by a former Belichick assistant. They started very poorly, but progressively got better. They even beat NE late in the year. Miami finished 5-11 last year.

I’m looking for that kind of progress this year. Steal a couple games that they aren’t expected to win. Be competitive. At minimum, go 3-3 in the division, more specifically, beat Dallas/Philly at home. I’d like to see Jones build off last nights game.

Bring in more assets if possible shedding any veterans for draft picks.

This whole “tank and pick in the top 3” is garbage. There’s a reason shitty teams constantly are the same teams at the top of the draft.
Ballantine Is Awful!
LTIsTheGreatest : 10/23/2020 9:16 am : link
He never even looked back for a possible fake punt where he was left uncovered in that first quarter. Could have been a gift TD there. He cant cover anyone. Then commits a stupid roughness penalty to basically set the Eagles up on tht last drive. He needs to be cut ASAP

This. If those rumors are true about Getty still shopping for Golladay, I’d take the keys away today. Start selling players that are not part of the future (next 2-3 years) , cause they have a very long road ahead rebuilding yet again. I’d shop Engram, Tate, Peppers (if he doesn’t fit moving forward), one of Williams and Tomlinson). Need to start selling today, and making room to bring in someone OUTSIDE the organization to be GM. How many years in a row is Mara going to continue with the sad sack empty resolutions. We are the worst team in the NFL going on 4 years now.

How many times have the Giants won meaningless games at the end of the year and it’s led to zero impact on the following season?

Winning 3 games isn’t going to make this team better in 2021

If you want Judge & Jones to be successful, wins matter. If you prefer blowing everything up, then might as well lose out.

Not really. It’s been pretty obvious Judge is a good coach and that it was a good higher. I’d rather have a chance to get the best possible talent for Judge than win meaningless games for morale victories.

There’s no momentum from one season to another
More draft picks
Harvest Blend : 10/23/2020 9:33 am : link
send out the losers (Engram) and/or guys that don't fit what their market value might be (Williams/Peppers/Tomlinson).

Get picks, save $$$ and reevaluate later.
Improvement from young players
Mike from Ohio : 10/23/2020 9:34 am : link
particularly Thomas who is playing very poorly. Having to ride out another first round OLine bust will suck.

Gettleman has to be gone and another rebuild started. The last one yielded almost nothing. Bring in someone who can work with Judge and his staff to get talent that fits what they want to do.

A meritocracy. If Peart is playing better than Thomas, put Peart in. No scholarships. Everyone should be earning their snaps. If Gallman can add something let's work him in instead of defaulting snaps to Deion Lewis.

I want to see this team close out some games. They have gotten leads in several games and they need to learn how to play with one.

So, you’d rather go 3-13 than 6-10? If this team plays well and closed out the season 5-4, that would be worthless for Judge & Jones?

Yea I’d rather go 3-13 than 6-10. 6-10 gets you in no mans land and let’s people keep their jobs who shouldn’t, as we’ve seen before. If the Giants ended the season 5-4 you can bet your mortgage they’re keeping Gettleman

I woukd agree if the team was older playing a bunch of old vets, but playing young guys you absolutely want to see wins..
If you take stock in Thomas and Jones as foundational players
The_Boss : 10/23/2020 9:45 am : link
(And I don’t) you need to see improvement. Why? Because by all accounts when we pick inside the top 3 in April, there will be players available who are much better than them. If they improve, it allows the team to infuse talent at other spots, like say, WR or Edge.
I need to see Evan Engram and Jabril Peppers benched
M.S. : 10/23/2020 9:51 am : link

Preferably cut.

I need to see Andrew Thomas demoted to the practice squad.

I need to see Matt Peart start at LT for remainder of season.

I need to turn off the TV set and never watch another Giants game for the rest of this season.

Maybe next season, too.
I'd like to see Dave Gettleman packing up his office

thoughts:

Play the young guys as much as possible.

Bench Thomas for a few games, as much for his own benefit as Jones's health. I certainly think he should play more this season, but right now he needs to sit.

Investigate trading just about anyone, including Engram, Tate, Zeitler, Fleming, and Hill.

Giants need to find out what they have. Will he be great or someone like Garoppolo?

Another team!
David B. : 10/23/2020 8:57 pm : link
Seriously,
Progress out of Jones. Less fumbling and less long runs which are gonna get him killed.

Progress out of Thomas and some playing time for Peart and Lemieux.

Engram traded for a defensive starter.
I want to see Jones and Judge do more of what they did last night
Eric on Li : 10/23/2020 9:24 pm : link
I've been mixed on Garrett but he finally loosened the reins early and let Jones throw the ball down the field. Jones played great and I thought all of our weapons actually looked like the defense had to account for them. Tate obviously had his TD, Shepard made a few nice plays to move the chains, drop aside Engram was involved, and Slayton made a few catches even thought he clearly wasn't 100%.

Graham has done a good job with the defense so I feel bad for him that a few bad plays flipped the entire script on his units effort. Same as I feel for Engram on the drop. These guys are playing hard and sometimes the other team just makes plays and momentum is a bitch. From the moment that flag hit the ground after the sack that would have made it 3rd and 15 the Eagles just did no wrong.

But bringing it back to the question - Judge had a really strong game and Jones took meaningful steps forward. If those 2 establish themselves over the rest of the year it will have been a successful season regardless of anything else. More games like the first 55 minutes yesterday and that will be the case.
